  1. And that AB right there...is why Arcia isn't playing. Absolutely terrible plate appearance, terrible approach.
  2. Arcia is an exceptional glove man and has a little bit of pop in his bat. I don't know why you think it's as easy as just going to the Hall of Fame Baseball Player store and buying a shortstop or pitcher or whomever, but you do you. Sure it is, you just have to be willing to meet other teams prices. Stearns hasn't really shown that much of a willingness to do that in the past to this point. If you want to spend Walmart prices, then you get Walmart quality. And who do we have in the minors that would be required to get these first ballot Hall of Fame players? We don't have enough to get one of these players let alone the four or five you want. Have you seen our call ups play this season? Never said they have to be Hall of Famers, but It wouldn't cost that much to get better than Arcia(offensively). Look, why do you just focus on minor league pieces?? They have guys like Burnes and Peralta and Arcia that are VERY trade able to me.

  4. I think it is because Chase's mistakes get hit over the wall too much. Not the last 2 games, against Pittsburgh he was rolling, taken out after 4, and last night pitched great, home run cheap, taken out 69 pitches. Bullpen lost both games. Let’s be honest here, Counsell has been terrible with the decision making of the pitching staff the last month and a half. Exactly, Counsell cost the team at least those two games by not leaving Chase in longer when he was rolling.
  5. Counsell let's Davies go three times through an order on occasion and he has the worst stuff on the staff. Yet, he doesn't let Chase ever. I really don't get it.
  6. He's not good at baseball?? Neither is Saladino, but let's not act like Arcia is Robin Yount.
  7. Has anyone noticed that this slide directly coincided with Stearns sending Hiura down the first time?? You should never anger the baseball gods.
  8. They can add payroll, don't believe that freaking fallacy...Get a TOR arm, a couple of lights out bullpen arms and how different does this team suddenly look??
  9. A lot of this is on Counsell as well...always pulling the starter so damn early...especially Chase...he worries too damn much about a guy facing a lineup for the third time...if a dude is rolling, he's rolling. Besides, can the starter going through a LU a 3rd time be any worse than sending it to the bullpen??
  10. I really want to be sellers. Stearns wouldn't do it, and even if he wanted to, Attanasio would overrule him. There is ZERO chance in hell they could get the fans to be okay with that.. This is on DS..all on him..this team had problems awhile ago and instead of going out, being aggressive and getting someone, he just keeps thinking the players on the team will improve. This is what he gets...he has to own this. Period. I think just about every fan on here besides you would be ok with it. They simply aren't good enough. This board does not represent the fanbase though...plenty of fans that don't post on this board I can guarantee you wouldn't be happy about it...in fact, they'd be furious;

I NEVER trusted Burnes or Peralta..he should have never let Miley go for one. He should have signed Kuechel way back when when he had the chance. This mess is all on Stearns and now instead of trying to fix it, he can just say "guys didn't perform like we expected" and he gets himself off the hook with most people. Not with me he doesn't.
  12. Like what? There are problems all over the place. This was not getting fixed by a trade or two. I'm not in his head, but honestly, I'm guessing that he figured out the team was far enough away from good that it wasn't worth giving up anything substantial to salvage a season going nowhere. He didn't even try..just "threw in the towel". Kept banking on improvement from the current players..it doesn't take a genius(which I have heard him called) to figure out that wasn't going to happen and they needed help...as much as it took to right the ship.

  14. This is what Stearns gets for standing pat thus far. Had he acted sooner, this slide might not have been as bad. He has A LOT of explaining to do to the fans.
  15. You know who I'm bringing in for an inning if this goes a couple more?? Woodruff..he should be good for an inning I would think.
  16. He's just not very good...Last year was one of those "catch the league off guard" like what happens with a lot of rookie pitchers until teams figure him out. That's what's happening with Burns. I want him gone.
  17. No, not always. Hiura is still technically a prospect. Would you trade him for a proven guy just for the sake of having the proven guy? What if we had traded Woodruff for Machado last year? Where would we be now? The problem with your approach is two-fold. First, every great player was once a prospect. Every single one. You never find out which ones will make it if you never give them a chance. Imagine if the Dodgers had traded Cody Bellinger at the deadline for some immediate help 3 years ago because hey, he was just a prospect, go get some proven talent, right? The other problem is that if you are constantly using your prospects as trade chips you will eventually run out of them so you can't be reckless about using them that way. I see your point...but you also can't "run scared" because you THINK someone might be the next Ken Griffey Jr, or Nolan Ryan. Far more prospects that were once thought to be really good, have washed out, then have become the next Ken Griffey jr.Heck, look at the Brewers from years past for proof..Matt LaPorta(I remember people dreading giving him up in the CC deal), Nick Nuegebauer, Joey Meyer etc, the list is a long one. I still remember vividly people here lamenting giving up Lewis Brinson in the Yelich deal. That was trading a top prospect(Brinson), for a proven major leaguer (Yelich), would any of us say that hasn't worked out great?? That's what you do, find proven talent that you feel really good about, and deal prospects for them, and don't regret it. In regards to Syndergaard, I'd be willing to bet MASSIVE amounts of money, that he will have a better major league career when it's all said and done than Burnes or Peralta..Hence why I have no problems giving up both for him. You aren't giving up anyone that vital to this years team and getting a TOR starter(for another 2.5 years at that) which COULD be all that's needed to get them to the World Series, or for sure get them closer. That allows you to still have minor league prospects to go out and get even more help for this years team.
  18. I wouldn’t trade Burnes straight up for Thor. I think many think Burnes in the next couple of years becomes a TOR, so at best that’s a wash. There isn’t a chance in heck Stearns trades for this overrated hulk. Im high on Burnes too, but that's just crazy talk. If one believe’s Burnes to be a future Tor, then how is it crazy? Question Brew 92...you are so incredibly high on "prospects". Why would you NOT trade Corbin Burnes...who COULD be a TOR Pitcher in the future, for a guy like Syndergaard who is PROVEN to be a TOR starter?? I guess I just don't understand your fascination with guys who MIGHT be good sometime in the future. Don't you always always always trade potential for proven talent?? I mean, that's how you improve your ball club, right?? And not just for Syndergaard, I'm talking anyone for any prospect. Always take the proven talent, right??
  19. Again, give them Peralta, Burnes, Arcia and another smaller piece and I think the trade gets done.
  20. People talk about the brewers prospects and the drop off after Hiura. Sure, it's big, but guys like Burnes and Peralta to me are tradeable. I don't know if people just don't want to part with them or what?? I easily give up both of them in a Syndergaard deal for example.
