  1. Oh look, a K for the wonder kid! Who didn't see that coming??
  2. I think if Sogard gets on here I Pinch run Villar and send him..get him in scoring position for Thames/Braun
  3. Well...now the gas can part of the bullpen..what could possibly go wrong??
  4. Hold 'em here..they WILL score a couple in the bottom of the 8th.
  5. Exactly why DS should go get another bullpen arm..like Wilson. We know. Wilson, Verlander, Gray, Samardzija, Dennis Eckersley, bring 'em all aboard. Do you trust this pen or not?? There's your answer.
  6. Exactly why DS should go get another bullpen arm..like Wilson.
  7. Yep. Straily's calling card is giving up bombs. Bigtime pass. In fact, it actually makes me want to puke to think the Brewers might be in negotiations to get him... Agreed. He isn't special as it is...in Miller Park? Wow no thanks. Would be absolutely steaming if we give up how much it would cost to get him. They won't, if they were going to give that up, I'd assume they'd just trade for Gray

  9. Price dropping on Gray..Offer Phillips/others and get it done! You don't think Johnson would love to have him??
  10. I can't even....this is just gold. Right up there with the recent 'I had drinks with Craig Counsell's wife so I know what I'm talking about' guy. I see you've been a board member for 10+ years, so you're obviously not 12. It's just...most people gain a sense of self-awareness over time and don't actually think that they're more qualified than the 30 men in the world deemed most qualified to run a Major League Baseball team. All I'm saying is..I'm too competitive to sit on my hands in the middle of a pennant race and wait for 3-4 years down the road to see if MAYBE my rebuilding plan works. That's why I am shocked DS is..You'd think GM's are super competitive too. Look, I'm not saying empty the farm necessarily but they need at least another bullpen arm and a starter. If they can get those two pieces..I really think they have a shot. Those two pieces SHOULD be fairly easy to get without giving up the farm I would think. If you can do it for quantity over quality, why wouldn't you??
  11. I wonder if the Crew wins tonight, if that will increase DS's urgency to make a deal?? They need help! They could use at least one more bullpen arm and a starter..get that and I think they have a shot at this thing, I really do. ESPECIALLY because the Cubs have to play Arz and wash this next week, if the crew is in striking distance(which they will be), after this series, they have a realistic shot of getting that lead back up to 5.5 or more with that stretch the Cubs have coming up.
  12. I promise you...Mark A writes me a blank check and I would absolutely guarantee you winning baseball in Milwaukee for the forseeable future. That's a fact!
  13. Okay so the A's realize now they aren't getting Torres or Frazier..thus, why doesn't DS strike now, without Brinson??
  14. You know that Mark A. ' not thinking twice' about that is part of the reason we got into this whole rebuilding mode in the first place, right? You do know that he hired Stearns for a reason, right? He is the boss, he could force Stearns' hand if he wanted to. Perhaps, just perhaps the reason he isn't doing that is that he is a smart businessman and billionaire aa you noted, and understands that leaving those decisions to DS is in the best interests of this franchise? I'm sure you are a passionate fan and I understand you want the team to win but you would be an absolute nightmare as a GM. Like, drive the franchise right back into the 90s type nightmare. Nope, I can guarantee you i'd have this franchise winning consistently as soon as next year and beyond. I wouldn't be pinning my hopes on competing in the next 3-4 years on Lewis Brinson, I know that much. It's going to take a lot more than him, and a lot more then this current crop of minor leaguers that everyone seems so high on. As long as Mark A said to me the same thing he said to Stearns "I will worry about paying the bills". Then I have free reign, and will have it turned around in a heartbeat. I'm just as competitive or more so than Mark A is. You have to be. I'm guessing most here aren't, which is why they will wait for the rebuild. I absulotely LOATHE losing, more than anything..I don't care what It is.
  15. This is why Kirk N is coming up...
  16. It is absolutely insane to try to project a guys entire career based on a small handful of MLB at-bats. Lewis Brinson has had 45 plate appearances st the MLB level. There is absolutely no way you can say what kind of player he will be at this point. Not every prospect is going to be Ryan Braun or Cody Bellinger from day 1. It just doesn't work like that. Aaron Judge had 95 plate appearances for the Yankees in 2016, and he was terrible. Can you imagine if they had simply thrown in the towel on him before the season and included him as part of a deal for Quintana or another pitcher that was on the trade block? That's interesting you say that because everyone here seems to think he's going to be the next great thing, don't they?? They sure seem to, or they wouldn't be so freaking afraid to trade him for a PROVEN major league Pitcher who by the way still has 2.5 years of control remaining, and as far as I know, there's no rules stating the Brewers couldn't sign him for another 3-4 after that if they wanted to..that's 6 years of control...just like Brinson. If I can't say he won't be the next great thing, then people here certainly can't proclaim that he will be and be afraid to trade him. Or doesn't it work both ways??
  17. How soon everyone forgets...Lewis Brinson was traded by the Rangers to Milwaukee for a catcher..and a bullpen arm. Think about that. If Texas really thought he was going to be that spectacular, you think they would have traded him for a freaking Catcher and a bullpen arm?? You think if other organizations had Lewis Brinson they wouldn't trade him in the midst of a pennant race to try to "go for it"?? I can tell you who would've traded him by now...Mark A would have, and not thought twice about it. He didn't become a millionaire by being passive, resistant to taking some chances, and most importantly, striking when the time is right. The longer you wait, the better chance you have diminishing returns..he knows that. Not sure why DS doesn't.
  18. Let me ask this simple question to those thn't want to trade Brinson for Gray...now let's assume Gray stays healthy for the remainder of his time in Milwaukee, let's say that's 10 more starts this year, and 60 combined the next two after that..let's say of those 70 combined starts he wins in a Brewers uniform, let's just say he wins 35 of them...that's half..and that's really low, but we'll use it..35 wins and let's say his ERA in his time in Milwaukee is 3.75 over all of his starts. There is in my opinion absolutely ZERO chance Lewis Brinson can account for 35 wins in that some time span, using any metric you want..I don't see that as possible. How is it not worth it?? Because Brinson has 6 years of control and Gray has 2 1/2?? So what?? Unless Brinson is hitting .280 every one of those years with 25-30 hrs and knocking in 90-100 runs(which is highly unlikely), what are you really losing?? From what i have seen of him so far...I'm just not ga ga over him like a lot of you are. There have been MANY prospects through the years that come up and start raking instantly and don't stop their whole careers..That makes the ma superstar. Brinson hasn't. Let's say he does 3 out of those 6 years of control..How much did that really help the Brewers win?? 3 years of an average major leaguer, and the last 3 years of above average but not superstar level?? To me...if he's the next great thing, he should be doing it right now..you'd see it..but frankly, we haven't. Remember Braun and how he raked when he first got called up?? That's what brinson should be doing if he was going to be this All star like everyone here seems to think.
  19. I agree this is the most likely scenario..but IF(and it's a big IF) this is true, then I'd believe it's because they feel they are close on something, or at least making serious progress on something. In other words, it wouldn't be "just in case" we get heavily involved in talks with someone.
