  1. With all due respect, why are you on this site? Because I like the Brewers...and I like watching winning baseball, and I want them to do whatever they can to win baall games, but it's just not happening..and I'm frustrated. It's okay, like the rest of the state I have Training camp opening in 3 days, and then the Brewers become irrelevant anyway.
  2. He's been linked in talks to pretty much every available pitcher out there. You're just flat out trolling now. DS being linked in talks with every available Pitcher...yes..but who has he acquired?? You can be linked in as many talks as you want, it's meaningless unless you acquire someone.
  3. Must be nice, even teams lower in the standings then the Brewers are trying to make a push(regardless of their circumstances). Yet here sits DS...*crickets*
  4. Hell even the Royals are "going for it"....But DS?? All we hear are *crickets*
  5. LOL even the Braves...yes, the Atlanta Braves(nowhere near contention) realize how smart it is to try to acquire Sonny Gray..Yet Stearns apparently doesn't...
  6. If DS can be as good at GM as TT, I'll take that for the next decade..... playoffs every year and a championship. He's wasted ARodg's prime years by never utilizing Free agency(at least in a big way) to improve the club. One Championship with Arodg is an absolute travesty...that's on TT for not acquiring the necessary talent. He's the biggest tightwad GM in all of sports. It's sickening. If DS is that passive as well, never doing whatever it takes to get over the hump, then Brewer fans will be left disappointed, and with good reason.
  7. I think David Stearns looking to buy at the trade deadline, is like Ted Thompson in free agency..Won't buy unless he can get them at Walmart prices. How has ignoring Free agency fared for the Packers?? It's left them with having to depend on young players for depth, and when the starters go down, they can't handle a full time role and we see what has happened in the playoffs. Same thing with Stearns now..unless he can get someone at HIS cheap as cheap price, he won't do anything. I mean why do anything to try to help your team right?? especially not for just this year but in the next couple as well. Being cheap at the trade deadline, sets a bad precedent for the future if you ever want to trade with someone again..they will remember you lowballing them this time.
  8. I still want them to make several moves, Gray being one of them..I have just given up that they will..keep hearing rumors about them being in on so many different guys, but obviously Stearns is too passive/scared to pull the trigger on anything. Oh well, WHEN this rebuild plan fails in the next 3-4 years and he's looking for a new job, he'll have to own it, and always regret not trying to improve the ballclub when he had a chance.
  9. I'm tired of hearing who they are all in on..it's time for us to hear about who they have acquired. Jaime Garcia?? Meh..
  10. So build for the future until you "know it" as you say and then go for it. That I agree with The thing is, starting next week when Packers training camp opens..NO ONE in this state will give two craps about the Brewers anymore anyway. That being said, if they were to make a "big" trade, that would keep people at least somewhat interested. Is that a reason to make a trade?? of course not, but it is the reality of it.
  11. Neither do GMs who end up trading stars because they're chasing after the next 'proven' commodity time after time and never have the patience to find out what they have in their prospects. Tyler Thornburg was controllable and proven. How's that working out for Boston? Look, if you have a Bellinger, or a Trout or a Harper or Kershaw in your system, you know it pretty quickly. I don't see any of those guys in the Brewers system. And everyone keeps saying "emptying the farm" for Gray. if you can get him for a top 10 prospect, and then a few other pieces..that's not emptying the farm by any stretch. The Cubs certaintly didn't "empty" the farm for Quintana..a couple of A ballers(highly regarded), that weren't going to sniff the majors for awhile anyway. At some point, these prospects will have to be traded anyway..and if you keep thinking "okay next year is our year", or the following year or the following year, and it never comes, then what?? You always deal with the known...and what is known RIGHT NOW, as unlikely as it is, is they are in contention this year. You play to win the game...now. The future is just that, the future and unpredictable.
  12. For real? Are you legit concerned about this right now? What, because you can cover failures on the field for a few years with the "we are sticking to a plan" means you have total job security in perpetuity? It's a legit question. If I'm Attanasio, I'd want to see at least several guys he's traded for and drafted performing at high levels in the big leagues by 2019 or I'm starting to ask some serious questions if "the plan" was merely a method to insure job security. How Stearns handles this unexpected contention this year by maximizing the team's chances without gutting the system completely will say a lot about his skill. Claiming Vogt was a positive move, but he let the Cubs get the jump on him for the difference maker when the Brewers were up by 5 1/2 games. He should have never let the Cubs get Quintana. I get a little tired of people here raving about the prospects and the brewers farm system. We have ZERO idea what these guys will be when they get to the majors. None whatsoever. However, we do know what Sonny Gray, Jose Quintana and guys like that will do, because they have proven it time and time again. I have no idea why Stearns wasn't more agressive on Quintana, and quite honestly, I have no idea why Sonny Gray isn't in a Brewers uniform right now either. These are young, controllable guys, which is what everyone here wants for the Brewers...and not only that, they are controllable and PROVEN. I just have this feeling that whether this season is catching lightning in a bottle or not, it may well be the Brewers best chance of contending in the next 3-4 years. I have a feeling it will be a lot of wheel spinning over the next few years. What kind of a rebuild is that? Stearns is too passive for my tastes. As the saying goes "scared money don't make money". Well, scared GM's don't have jobs forever either.
  13. Brewers looking into it...
  14. Have you been watching all the blown leads this bullpen has had since the All star break??
  15. Not buying that they are looking to add big...if they were, they'd have done something by now..the longer it goes, the higher the prices go up and the less likely they do something. I wish they would add big, but it doesn't appear that it's going to happen sadly enough. I'd love to see a haul of verlander, Wilson AND Gray..and I think it can be done without giving up the farm, just by taking on Verlander's contract. Verlander has stated in the past he is 'too old to be part of a rebuilding process.' He just bought a house in California, with his fiancee Kate Upton. There is basically zero chance that Verlander waives his NTC and gives up his 10/5 rights to come to Milwaukee. Fine, it doesn't have to be Verlander...Gray, Wilson and another big piece or two would be fine with me..

  17. Crew not in on Verlander...
  18. This piece by Rosenthal is SPOT on...Maybe now some of you will start to "get it" and see why I and others are pushing this so hard...https://www.facebook.com/kenrosenthalsports/posts/1455526177846442 . Exactly what i have been saying...there are NO guarantees (like some of you seem to think) that 3-4 years down the road, that the brewers will be even ready to be in contention then. It's that simple. Go for it...NOW. Said this too...he has waited too long, and have no freaking clue as to why. +1000...talk prospects all you want, but again, show me the 100% proof thay the current crop will have them contending year after year. Well said Ken, well said...
  19. #1 - The Yankees have Jorge Mateo in AA, who is a pretty elite prospect . #2 - You draw that conclusion, that it will be a light return, from a report that the A"s are scouting the Yankees AA affiliate? Really? If By ELITE prospect you mean someone not even in baseball america's top 100(as of May), sure then I guess he's elite. http://www.baseballamerica.com/minors/top-100-prospects-updated-may-11/#oVe4sYGc2EkWSydU.97
  20. A's scouting Yankees AA affiliate...so, if this is all it would take for Gray(some AAers), there is ZERO excuse DS shouldn't have had this done already. Ridiculous.
  21. What some people aren't getting I think is that, yes, the Crew hasn't scored any runs this series, BUT, you aren't thinking about the "impact" and extra "juice" an acquisition can give a team. If you don't think the Quintana acquisition for the Cubs hasn't helped at least to an extent, them rattle off 6 in a row, then you don't quite understand all the aspects of baseball. I Coached an adult amateur team for the past 5 years, and last year we were struggling to get any traction going at the beginning of the year. I knew my team could hit, but for whatever reason they weren't. We lost the first 4 games to start the year, all of them close. In the meantime, I had been out "recruiting" and happened to find a Pitcher that I felt like was as good as we have had since I started Coaching. Game 5, he started for us, we knocked out 13 hits, scored 8 runs and won the game easily. Same with the next 5 weeks in a row. The hits started coming. I could see the extra "juice" my guys were playing with all of a sudden because of the Pitcher I brought in. It's a very real thing in baseball...and DS has failed to give this team the "shot in the arm" that they need right now. Is it guaranteed to work?? Of course not. But the worst that happens, is you miss the playoffs and still have Gray for another 2 years after this. I really thought that he'd make a trade coming out of the AS break like the Cubs did...that made the most sense to me. At this point, after gagging away 4 games of a once decent 5 1/2 game lead, I think it's a little too late. Yes, there's a lot of baseball remaining, but the Cubs have seized momentum, and I don't feel like the Crew will get it back at this point. I like DS, I think he's done some good things so far, but to be quite honest, if you are a GM of a baseball team, and you are afraid to trade away some prospects for fear they might turn out to be the next Babe Ruth, then quite frankly, you probably shouldn't be a GM. There are ZERO guarantees any of these prospects work out, you have to give to get, and the way some of you slobber over prospects is amazing. If I can trade away prospects and get PROVEN Major league talent in return, I do it every single time. It's a no brainer to me. You play to win the game. Period.
  22. Forget it now, DS just sat back and watched his team gag away the division. Thanks for the help to the rotation/bullpen and shot in the arm DS! Hope his plan works, because it would be a damn shame if this is as close as they come to contending the next 3-4 years and DS just sat on his hands. He has to own it. I would think the ultra competitive Attanasio would be on his to get something done too. Oh well, was fun well it lasted. Obviously no trades will be happening.
  23. DS not doing anything sends a bad message to the players...almost as if to say "You guys are a fluke, I don't believe in you, so I'm not going to do anything to upgrade the roster". The players have done their jobs and have put themselves in a position no one believed they'd be in....now it's time for Stearns to do his...before it's too late(and frankly it might already be).
  24. From Rosenthal: ● Brett Phillips would figure to be part of any Brewers offer to Oakland for Gray; the A’s need a center fielder, and the Brewers probably would prefer to keep their two top prospects according to MLBPipeline.com, Lewis Brinson and Corey Ray. The Brewers’ system is strong enough for them to put together a package for Gray without Brinson; Ray, the fifth overall pick out of Louisville in the 2016 draft, is struggling offensively in the High-A Carolina League. Phillips joined the Brewers for the second time this season after the All-Star break. He batted .293 with 17 homers and a .940 OPS in the thin air at Triple-A Colorado Springs.
