  1. Gallo is not a Stearns guy. He is major league ready and would take a lot of the value out of Lucroy/Jeffress. Yeah, because why on earth would you ever want to improve your current major league club David?? That makes ZERO sense. Like someone said earlier..it's about acquiring the best talent you can..who cares if there Single A team wins a championship?? This is big boy baseball David..If you're too scared to play..then don't, and let someone who can handle it handle the heavy lifting.
  2. Every single prospect could bomb...That's the problem with prospects.
  3. So what?? EVERY big slugger in baseball has always struck out a lot. That's what you get with them. The Brewers have a lack of power in their system..he fills that void. OBP guys are nice, but do you no good if you don't have anyone that can bring them in.
  4. I really don't think that you do. Stearns cannot just demand an asking price if he doesn't have a suitor willing to meet that asking price. Do you really think Stearns wouldn't love to add the best guys possible? Do you think he's telling teams to take 3 guys of their choice off the table and then they can discuss the rest? If the deal also includes Jeffress, then yes, he HAS to demand Gallo as a PART of it. Remember, all reports are to trade Jeffress, he MUST get a major piece in return.
  5. EVERYONE is available for the right price...especially a Gallo. He's redundant to Texas.
  6. If he doesn't get Gallo, I would say that means Stearns disagrees on the valuation of prospects and lucroys trade value with you, not that he doesn't "get it". Then he has no clue..Gallo is one of the top prospects in all of baseball..if he doesn't value that as an important piece for Luc...he really shouldn't be an MLB GM.
  7. No, Eugene, that Ivy League 30 year old MLB General Manager just doesn't get it. He really doesn't...I don't care if he went to an ivy league school or not...Lucroy is an all star catcher and probably the best in the game..why should you under sell him?? Even if Gallo for Luc is a 1-1..you do it. But Gallo has to be included somehow.
  8. Doesn't get what? How trades are supposed to work. He was going to let Cleveland off the hook without their #1 prospect, there is NO way he should let texas off the hook too. Especially if it includes Jeffress. Lucroy is absolutely worth Gallo +. If he isn't part of it...hang up the phone.
  9. If the brewers make a trade with the Rangers and Gallo isn't in it...then Stearns just really doesn't get it...does he??
  10. Tom ‏@Haudricourt 22m22 minutes ago Remember last year when Carlos Gomez trade got nixed, then he was traded next day? I predict same with Jonathan Lucroy. 0 retweets 0 likes
  11. From ESPN: Cleveland's response to Lucroy's requests was to tell the Brewers that it was their responsibility to appease Lucroy and get him to consent to the agreed-upon trade, a source told ESPN's Buster Olney. Really Indians?? What were the Brewers supposed to do to "appease" him, when you wouldn't guarantee that he'd be the starting catcher next year, nor would waive his option??
  12. Understandably, Cleveland was in no way willing to meet that request, as the option is a significant factor in Lucroy’s value to the club. USA Today’s Bob Nightengale, meanwhile reports that the Indians weren’t promising Lucroy that he’d be their starting catcher in 2017, which gave him pause in approving the deal. Cleveland planned to rotate Lucroy between catcher, first base and DH in 2017.
  13. No one here gets it...with the package the Crew could have gotten from Cleveland, they were essentially giving him away anyway. So, what's the difference?? To not get any pitching back for him was a disgrace.
  14. Knock it off! So you'd have rather had a "single A catcher as a headliner, then keep Luc around another year??. I for one, do NOT want this "rebuild" to last another 5-6 years. I want it fast tracked. Single A guys won't do that for you. This deal, with the top available chip on the market, was insulting. Period. Luc just saved Stearns from an embarrassment.
  15. So getting nothing will be better? Do you really think a better deal is coming along in the next 24 hours? no but a single "A" catcher as a headliner is insulting..IF he worked out fine..but he's 20..be years before the rebuild is final at that point. Nothing sayin a comp pick couldn't work out just as well as Mejia. To not get any stud pitching back for him was ridiculous. Stearns just got saved by Luc. I told you all to stop wanting "multiple" players back...take the one for one stud and be done with it..maybe you can't get that, but this deal was insulting..market or no market.
  16. Thank god! Alls well that ends well.
  17. I told you guys...everyone here was all excited at getting "multiple pieces" before this trade went down...now you got it, and no one likes it. It's a be careful what you wish for...I will predict right now that not a single one of the guys DS got in this trade will be productive major league players. DS is in over his head..he didn't get nearly enough for Luc, and looks to me like he traded him...just to trade him. If that was the best he could do..I'd have held him..you weren't going to get less next year, that's for sure.
  18. It starts with Profar and Gallo...not either or...BOTH, and that's the starting point for multiple Brewer pieces.
  19. I too would like to trade my Camry for a Bugatti. But the real world doesn't work that way, does it? So...if someone offered you a $50 bill for your $10,000 that you weren't going to have in another 2 years anyway..you'd take the $50 bill because it's better than nothing, and you weren't going to have that $10,000 two years from now anyway?? That's some logic.
  20. LOL I love this board...you guys rave about how great of a trading chip Lucroy is...but then basically devalue him by saying you want "lottery tickets" for him. He either has All star value, or he doesn't?? You can't have it both ways..getting 3-4 "lottery" tickets is NOT appropriate value for someone you think has tremendous value.
  21. IF being the key word...there are too many variables...and when have the brewers EVER hit on any prospects they have acquired thru trades?? When they have hit, it's been there own homegrown talent. That's why i said earlier...I agree 100% with Tim Allen's take...enough talk about " multiple prospects" enough talk about "high ceilings" and "potential" in a deal for LuCroy. What this franchise needs more than anything else to turn the corner is an absolute "can't miss" guy...that's what you should be asking for in a trade. I'd rather have one "can't miss" prospect, than 5-6 "high ceiling" guys with "potential" that may or may not work out...because honestly, they might to an extent, but I'd bet none of them would develop into a can't miss guy. 1) You're quoting Tim Allen, who would trade the entire AAA and AA teams to win 5 more games this season. So, I can't exactly take your words seriously. 2) The idea that not trading Lucroy for the best deal you can get right now would have no effect compared to playing out his contract is ludicrous. 3) The Brewers have traded approximately 1 guy with anywhere near Lucroy's value in the last 10 years: Greinke. For that they got Hellweg, Segura and Ariel Pena. Segura happened to be the #1 Angels prospect and was considered an absolute "Can't Miss" prospect. What this franchise needs more than anything is to acquire talent for a guy they won't be resigning. Things they didn't get with Sabathia, Fielder and Hart. It's funny you mention the Greinke deal...How did getting "multiple" prospects work out for the Brewers in that one?? Segura was FAR from a can't miss prospect...many wondered if he would hit well enough...just because he is an organizations top prospect doesn't make him "can't miss". I'd argue it doesn't have to be a minor leaguer..it could be a young, controllable major league player currently.
  22. ANYONE is acquirable for the right price. To say they aren't is all just talk...there isn't any player in any sport that isn't tradeable if another team offers the right deal.

  24. And if what happened to Cervelli happened to him we'd be going through the whole song and dance we went through last winter. Injury prone. Has to prove he's healthy etc., except this time we have no leverage because if we don't trade him in the winter, his value goes down a ton. But you also don't trade him just to trade him...you get EXACTLY what you want, or you keep him. It's not going to set the franchise back any further if he played out his contract in Milwaukee.
  25. I agree 100%. This is professional baseball. All are professionals from the grounds crew, to the umps, and to the front office. You act as a professional at this level. Not some kid playing fantasy baseball or some video game. The same pros that don't bring up their best players so they can skip over a year of control? It's a business and Luc is our best trade asset by a ton. Who can still be traded next year.
