  1. anyone see why the trainer came out after that screwy play?
  2. Prince actually could have been safe if we took the late slide there, Soto was too busy trying to brace himself for impact--not that I blame him though edit--maybe not. after the 1st replay I thought Soto was a little behind the plate, either way he is lucky to have survived that
  3. I guess that I didn't notice how different the Brewer and Cub home/away schedules looked this early in the year. Through may Cubs have 33 home and 23 away, the Crew has 25 home and 31 away. That should bode well for us if we can stay within 3-4 games by the end of May. Home St. Louis: 4 games--2-2 L.A. Dodgers: 3 games--2-1 Atlanta: 3 games--1-2 Houston: 2 games--1-1 Away Chicago: 1 game--1-0 Houston: 3 games--2-1 Florida: 3 games--2-1 Boston: 3 games--1-2 Pittsburgh: 3 games--1-2 Washington: 4 games--3-1 16-13 it is. I have the Cubs at 18-11 for May and the Cards 14-14. That puts us 4 games back of the Cubs and .5 back of the Cards at the end of the month. Not great, but looks OK when you look at the rest of the schedule.
  4. The Cubs and Cardinals both set franchise records for wins in the month of April. The Brewers ended the month 15-12 after last years 16-9, with a lot less offense than expected. Third place in the division isn't where we want to be, but it really wasn't a horrible month and our offense should be improving soon.
  5. I listen to mostly all talk radio, in fact I don't even remember the last time that my car radio wasn't on an AM station. Personally, I can understand the concept that all of the negativity leads to less actual baseball knowledge for the casual fan. I think that most knowledgeable dedicated fans, which I consider myself, listen purely for an entertainment value. There is often very little actual newsworthy info that you can get from most call in radio shows. If a casual fan were to listen and hear nothing about how bad Turnbow was last night or how Ned Yost is the absolute downfall of the team, it is easy to understand why they feel it is acceptable, even responsible, to boo the next time some game doesn't go well. My best example was after we traded Gross last week, and a local station spent a lengthy amount of time just bashing him and his ability to play in the majors. Lo and behold the next game I was at, I hear some fan basically repeating what he heard on the radio and contributing nothing else. Him and his buddy go on to argue over how we got hosed by drafting Gross with such a high pick and signing him to a huge contract. I don't even know where some of their info came from but they ended up deciding that is was Yost's fault for picking him and if Gross got traded then Ned should be fired. This is an extreme example, I also overheard one of the guys explaining OPS as 'overall productivity stat'!! It has something to do with how well you hit combined with how many errors that you make in the field, that's how Braun's was so high last year. Basically sports talk radio is just like any other kind of talk radio, you have to give attention to who is presenting the message and take it with a grain of salt. Their is almost always an bias coming from one side or another and I agree that most of it is usually slanted towards the negative.
  6. Brewer team pitching stats through 4/29 1.42 Whip 3.99 ERA Through 4/30 1.48 Whip 4.44 ERA Ouch, it's going to take awhile to whittle that back down.
  7. Right back on the wagon, huh. At least it's a quick turnaround before tomorrow's game. I would guess that Billy gets the day off, it really looked like he was pretty sore after that ball hit him in the leg tonight. That's another reason to bring up Dillon right now.
  8. Sorry Turdblow, but your 15.63 era just isn't going to cut it anymore, hopefully you are gone for good. Possibly at least a DL trip after you smash some stuff in the clubhouse, you should be upset enough with yourself to at least do some damage to Wrigley somewhere. Feel free to get injured somehow.
  9. Yay Mitch Stetter!! He has been outstanding so far.
  10. If this isn't Turnbow's last game, I don't think that he will ever be released. This is about as bad as it can get from him.
  11. http://images.yuku.com/image/pjpeg/3c31539276fd611220f8ce509321887b0a2a60c.pjpg From the kinda funny Bill Engvall---Hey Suppan, here's your sign
  12. I'm jealous of D Lee's defense, always have been and always will be
  13. I don't think any second baseman out there makes that play and gets an out anywhere.
  14. OK so now I am very happy not watching this on ESPN, I can only imagine the Cub lovefest going on there. Does anyone know who is announcing for ESPN?
  15. Anyone know where to find out what our record is compared to what uni's we wear? I prefer the navy blue that we had on last night, and at least 5 of our 15 wins came with those on-I know Ben picks that one whenever he is pitching.
  16. Ben deserved to get the win tonight, just to make up for getting the no decision with the way he pitched opening day
  17. http://www.northsidebaseball.com/ if they haven't all jumped off of a bridge yet, their threads should be awful entertaining tonight
  18. I would also accept Stetter, almost prefer actually
  19. sidenote--anyone know what happened to Tulowitzki in the Giants vs Rockies game. All I found on the box score was an apparent leg injury. anyone have more details? nice job Prince, now each starter has at least one hit.....and Benny even made contact!!!
  20. I feel so much better about the Brewers today than I did all weekend. 15 hits in 31 at bats--me likey
  21. just keep showing up the Cubs Kendall. Now would be a great time for 1 of your handfull of homers this year.
  22. Either way pitcher in the 8 or 9 spot, JJ is going to be hitting in front of him.
  23. Well that was a fairly uneventful way to do it.
