I don't really see the rush, unless they really need a shortstop who do you want to replace him at this point? I guess if they try give Villar a day off and Perez is absolutely brutal then they might have to make the move.
I remember this joker had a start a couple of years ago against the Brewers at Miller Park and got crushed, mainly by Rickie Weeks. Probably the most confident I have been of the Brewers winning all year.
He retweeted a blog suggesting the idea that it could be a good fit. I guess I see a pretty big difference between somebody throwing the idea out there (kind of like Bowden did with Braun to the Cubs or numerous ideas here) and actual rumors where the reporter/writer heard some inside info.
Big number is relative, the Brewers will again likely have a low payroll and it will just be a one year contract so not a whole lot of risk if they decide to keep him around. It should really come down to if Stearns gets his asking price or not, no rush to trade him. Could even trade him in the off season if concerned about his raise.
I am actually surprised Harper isn't getting more heat for what he said to the ump. Rajon Rondo got a lot of criticism for saying the same thing this season at a ref.
Broxton is certainly impressing in the minors, showing power, patience at the plate and stealing bases. Should be interesting to see when he gets his next shot.
Is Walsh really much different than Nate Orf? Orf is probably better defensively with Walsh being a switch hitter. The Brewers also have to make a 40 man roster decision on Orf after the season. Ultimately it isn't real hard to keep Walsh on the team all year but those 40 man spots can be pretty valuable after the season.
I'll have to check it out, thanks. When I was a kid in the late 80's and early 90's I used to ride my bike there all the time when it was on 76th and Lincoln.
I don't think too many would be upset if Andy Wilkins left the organization. They still have not put Will Smith on the 60 day DL. Not sure if that is too high a price tag but the Brewers could certainly use some stability in the rotation as there are not a heck of a lot of options in the minors right now, or at least options that have not already failed at the big league level.
What would happen is the A's would take him back. If the Brewers don't feel he can ever hit at the big league level then fine otherwise it is not that hard to keep him on the roster.
I remember when that happened last year and it was a kind of odd release. I guess now that there is a new GM opinions could change. Certainly needs better control if he wants to stick though.
They certainly could replace Freeman, Hill and Flores with younger but not elite guys that are probably better. I don't know if they consider Lopez elite but I wouldn't be opposed to giving him a shot as they passed the mark where they control him through 2022.
