Not picking on you Plush but don't really understand why so many make similar statements like this with so much confidence. I mean it is real hard to lose 100 games but certainly a real possibility if you have seen this team play. I'm sure some of the better players will be traded as well so it might not get better.
I know he only has limited at bats but if by chance Walsh ended the season where he had an average that was maybe between .100-.200 but his OBP was around 380 is there value in that? I don't really look at average anymore but it is kind of hard to not see what Walsh is doing. Would you want an utility guy on the roster that can't hit but gets on base? Is he a top of the order option even if he can't hit as long as he gets on base?
Yeah I imagine Goforth is here just a few days until the next spot start and then he can go right back to AAA. Maybe the starter sticks around maybe he goes right back down and they bring back up a guy like Cravy for a few games.
Would rather they not brought up Perez as it give them less flexibility adding another guy with no options and perhaps creating a 40 man roster crunch down the line when these guys start coming off the 60 day DL. Maybe nearing the end of the Hill experiment but I doubt it.
He has been playing against righties and lefties and the lefty splits are really bringing him down. A Cecchini/Hill platoon would certainly be more productive than what they are getting at third right now. Don't mess around with Scooter and give some other guys a shot to prove themselves.
This is what I mean when I say he needs to be held on to vs traded. There isn't a #3 batter like him for this team forthcoming this season or next. You want to spend $30mil the next two years so we have a good #3 hitter on a 90+ loss team? There are arguments to not trade Braun...but that one seems like a bit of a stretch. Short answer is yes. Payroll is low and they still have to sell tickets the next couple of years. If a team has a good offer than my answer will change but not holding my breath.
Would be nice to start the week off with Nelson getting a win against the Cubs and going from there but don't have a good feeling about the series now with Braun out.
Former Brewers pitcher from the late 80's that had a real nice rookie year with a bunch of complete games and pretty bad after that. Thought there might have been a Brewers retrospective on here but maybe not.
If they were looking for a right handed outfielder with no future and they didn't care if he sat on the bench he would have been my choice as well. He could be the 2016 season Nevin Ashley, the career minor leaguer that finally gets his chance in the bigs.
FYI Daniel Winkler of the Braves was selected in 2014 and only accumulated about 30 days in 2015. He got hurt early this season so won't get to 90 days at the end of this year either.
He just needs 90 days active total. If he had say 60 days at the end of the 2016 season he would need to spend the first 30 days on the active roster, assuming he doesn't start the 2017 season on the DL. The Brewers could then option him during the 2017 season.
With the way Flores has been playing and looking kind of lost I think it might not be a bad idea for him to get some regular time in the minors. It does not appear that he has been outrighted yet so might make sense to send him down if Reed is really coming up as I doubt he gets claimed considering he has no options and been playing poorly.
