I was thinking of that too but wondering how they would pull it off. They would somehow have to make sure that wherever you are streaming from gets the correct Fox Sports and I'm not sure how easy that would be.
Incorrect, which is why many will complain it doesn't go far enough. The people that mainly want to watch Brewers games live in Milwaukee or Wisconsin, the Brewers games are still blacked out there among other places.
Yes, I think he gets it and probably will not even be a horrible contract at 10 years 500 million as he will only be 35 years old at the end of the contract. Sure he is not as good as Trout but I don't think that really matters much.
As somebody living in Madison I know I would be spending more time watching AAA baseball, especially during this rebuilding period. Hard to say what the impact would be to the Brewers but I think the difference between college players and prospects one step from the majors is a big difference. I go to the Mallards game because it is family friendly and I like baseball but would go to the AAA games to see future Brewers. I guess there is a possibility it could also help future attendance because people from Madison and near there would have seen these guys before reaching the bigs and might like to see them in the majors.
In the Brewers case then it might be more possible since none of these guys are Stearns guys with the possible exception of the players obtained in the Gomez trade. Of course he would still have to find a trading partner on the other side.
Unfortunately for Weisenburger it just might be a case of liking your own guys. Rene Garcia was in the Astros organization for a number of years, is slightly younger and will probably give you approximately what Weisenburger can on the offensive and defensive side of things. Weisenburger has always had the ability to get on base but doesn't hit for much, do give him credit for improving his caught stealing percentage the last couple of years and catching for a number of prospect at AA. Pina isn't a long term guy but will be good to have if Lucroy is traded. Pinto is probably too old to improve his defensive abilities much but if by some miracle he can improve then his offense would make him the best of the bunch.
I don't think so, it was a letter sent recently. If somebody feels there is a bad rule or law and wants it changed they should say something about it, doesn't matter how long the rule or law has existed. There are plenty of things in life that lie dormant for many years and there is an event or action that causes people to react.
It was Anakin's that Kenobi picked up at the end of Revenge of the Sith and gave to Luke during the original Star Wars. Luke lost it at Bespin during his fight with Vader. There was a line in Force Awakens about telling the story of how it was acquired back for another day. Maybe a future movie/book/comic.
There are just so many floating parts it is difficult to say and I don't think DS is limiting himself to one option like trading Khris Davis for example. My guess is if Davis/Braun is not traded that Santana goes to AAA and Broxton is the main CF. I also have a hunch that Flores is not ready by opening day so Peterson sticks around until at least Flores returns, which will include the maximum allowable rehab assignment. Niewenheus sticks for now as well. Reed plays full time in AAA. Eric Young is intriguing but don't think he plays CF good enough to make the team.
The overall tone of the letter is actually fairly positive and some of the chants do get out of hand and mean so I imagine this was to curtail it a little bit. The problem comes toward the end of the letter when rather poor examples are given. Chanting something like "airball" at a basketball game is perfectly fine and shouldn't have been included and is one of the reasons it is getting headlines nationally.
Huge for what, at best a 75 win team? He's not getting any younger and skills will diminish rapidly every day over 30. Pair that with concussions and now is the time to move him if we want to get a good return. Even waiting 1/2 way through the season could be a bust if he's not hitting well again (I know what his last couple months stats were). Huge for the organization since he is the best trade chip and chance at a top prospect. Thinking about the 75 win team is short sighted and certainly not the focus of DS.
I still like Perez but would not include him either since they can let him play everyday in AAA and not have to worry about adding him to the 40 man. I imagine we will see him in the big leagues at some point this season though. However, Tom H included Middelebrooks in his projected lineup even though he is not on the 40 man and he is the beat writer so if somebody here puts in Perez I wouldn't consider it far out there or anything.
Not a whole lot out there. In early January he retweeted that he spoke with management of the Venezuelan team (the same team Hernan Perez and Josmil Pinto is on) about his recovery but that he is not ready to play yet. Don't know if that is good or bad though as I have not seen anything regarding if he will be ready for spring training.
Mass do you happen to know if it would have been possible for the Brewers to allow him to play in Italy but still keep his rights if he ever decided to return to MLB?
Kind of surprised regarding Rizzo. I remember when Disciples of Uecker did an article on the rule 5 draft they mentioned him as a guy the Brewers might add to the 40 man.
If the writer knows it is a slam dunk than the writer isn't denying Griffey in this case from being a HOFer. Players stats don't change but it doesn't mean the player shouldn't get elected. It has been a number of years now where more than ten should be elected so it makes complete sense that certain players are not going to be elected. Certain hall of famers that are in the elite class like Griffey or Maddux are going to be bumped to the front of the line but the others have to wait their turn because there are so many hall of fame players on the ballot recently and the PED/steroid issue has made it worse.
A writer last year wrote about the subject of not voting for certain guys because of the ten person limit but I can't locate it now. Their job isn't to vote for the most deserving, Griffey was an obvious choice that was going to get elected so if somebody didn't vote Griffey and voted for ten others who he believed should go in the HOF I give that writer a lot of credit.
I think for the most part we all assumed a 1B with warts would be signed with the hopes he would have a good first half and be flipped for prospects. Could have been Alvarez, Morneau, Pearce, whatever.
