  1. Yes, hopefully they refuse to believe it and get stuck in the middle for a long time.
  2. I had to check to see if they put Jones in the Brewers top 30 and bumped Ponce out, thankfully they did not.
  3. Really enjoyed this article. Appears to be a smart guy with an understanding of what he is doing at the plate and why. I can see him having a decent career. Would be nice to stick it to the Cardinals as well after they released him.
  4. Small sample size but yes Santana has been pretty horrible and striking out even more than usual. There has been a lot of talk of moving Braun to first so he can play but don't think that should even really be a consideration this year.
  5. Yeah, with only 15 position players at the moment and Segura being shopped around Scooter appear safe. However, Villar and Walsh can't be sent down so if push comes to shove Gennett may be sent packing to Colorado at some point during the season since he only plays second.
  6. The draft is today, it looks like the Phillies will take Goeddel so I will predict the Brewers take Hernandez from Houston and if he is not available Rodriguez from Cleveland. I think Stearns will make a second pick as well but really hard to predict depending on what other teams do.
  7. There is some thought the PTBNL is rule 5 eligible so it could still play a factor even though Detroit does not have a pick.
  8. The poster is from Pittsburgh so I imagine fans called Walker that.
  9. Peralta has a fastball in the mid 90's, that is pretty much all I know.
  10. He also said he will make a pick or two in the rule 5 draft. If they pick somebody up it doesn't mean that player is blocking Phillips one bit. That player can be a future 4th outfielder or sent back to the minors in 2017 to develop more when Phillips is hopefully ready. Stearns is keeping his options open.
  11. Jake Cave is your man then.
  12. Quite honestly would be better off having lambeau leap as a separate forum here as there really isn't enough activity to justify another site. If the forums were here I imagine there would be more posts and input from regulars here.
  13. I hope it is the day after Bundy wins game 7 of the World Series for the Brewers.
  14. Correct, lefty Andrew McKirahan was drafted by the Marlins, put on waivers before the season and claimed by the Braves. The Braves kind of caught a break when he was suspended 80 games for drug use so by the time the Braves got him back they were pretty much out of the race so had no problem keeping him.
  15. Yes, Davis for Bundy straight up is an overpay. You may not believe it but it is the reality of the situation, Bundy is damaged goods that can't develop in the minors anymore. He is very high risk as talented as he may be plus the Orioles don't have a whole heck of a lot of leverage. Davis is a proven right handed power hitter at this point.
  16. Since he is from Houston I imagine Teoscar Hernandez is a strong candidate to be selected on Thursday. Wouldn't be able to hit but could field and steal some bases.
  17. Yeah, out of all of the Mariners prospects and considering Jackson is off the table I like Diaz the most, not a huge fan of Peterson. I would rather Stearns try not to fill position of need and get who he thinks is the best player, if he thinks it is Peterson though, then fine.
  18. Never really liked the Fields claim all that much so fine with him being gone, could have been filler at AAA but have Phillips, Reed, Wren probably starting there. Strong had a rough going in AAA but would have liked him to remain with the Brewers, especially with the number of open spaces on the 40 man.
  19. Sure, let him play every day and see what happens, nothing to lose really except for more losing which isn't necessarily a bad thing this year.
  20. Pretty simple, as stated previously they have limited position players on the 40 man, some that need time in the minors still, and have to play at least 12 or 13 at the big league level, basically some guy is going to have to make the team that doesn't really have a future here.
  21. He has spent a fair amount of time in the big leagues each of the last two years with the Brewers after only getting a couple cups of coffee with the Dodgers previously. The manager seems to like him as well so financially it would seem to make sense to resign with the Brewers. There still are not a lot of position players on the 40 man and a couple guys like Arcia and Rivera need time in AAA. Sure they might need the space now for a rule 5 pickup or two but there is no guarantee they would make the team. Plus at least a pitcher or two out of options won't make the team. All things considered Herrera still has a good chance to make the team if he wisely resigns.
  22. Looking at the list of potential Brewers that could be drafted in the rule 5 draft I think Perez could be at the top of the list of potential selections. Sure, teams just could have added him to the 40 man a couple of weeks ago, however if a team would have claimed him there would have been basically the same restrictions as a rule 5 pick since he is out of options anyway. Now teams have cleaned up their 40 man rosters and may have a spot open now. Or there could be the really weird scenario where the Brewers make Perez their selection if they don't see anything better and don't want to risk losing him.
  23. I think the trades he has made thus far for the major league club shows he is more OBP focused, got rid of Sardinas as well. Definitely would not rule out a guy limited to 1B or DH, Canha was drafted last year by the A's and did okay.
  24. Something to keep in mind is that even though today is the last day to add minor league players that are rule 5 eligible and even if they add a couple more to get to 40 they still have potential flexibility. If Stearns sees somebody available in the rule 5 draft he can still remove a player from the 40 man. Also, trading a guy like Lind for somebody not on the 40 man would help in that regard as well.
  25. On our list somewhere between 19-21, it is around where he was ranked when he was with the Yankees as well. MLB Pipeline has Betancourt at 20 so I would put Flores ahead of him but I don't agree with a lot of MLB Pipeline.
