"Here's why the Brewers' system in no way represents a supposedly worst-in-baseball designation. Check out the top seven. Six of thoise seven are in AA or AAA, and the one who isn't is close by and has many diehards very excited." In hindsight maybe that worst in baseball was deserved.
I do find the split interesting but it probably doesn't matter as it would be too difficult to work around. Maybe best if he is traded back to the Cubs.
I would like to hear what you have to say about Jaye Chapman. Obviously not a younger guy but don't hear a lot of scouting reports about him after the injuries he suffered.
Thankfully Jon Jay isn't a free agent so they won't be getting him. Don't really see room for David Murphy in the corner positions. Would prefer if they just go with Reed in CF and see what he can do before Phillips and/or Taylor get their shots. I like the idea of Santana and Davis competing for time. Peterson can be a 5th outfielder. Wren and Guez can be waiting at AAA if somebody gets hurt and they need some depth. Don't see Schafer on the 40 man after the season.
I might be in the minority but I am okay with Weisenberger, Houle and Leal. Sure, it would be great to get a guy like Sisco but probably not worth the price to try to acquire a top line catching prospect. Would prefer high ceiling pitching if they deal Lucroy.
Probably Braun because he is still owed $100 million and they need to get as much out of him as possible. Roache should probably get playing time at 1st as well in the minors as I think he still has a couple more years down there and it will be very difficult to crack one of those three outfield spots.
Wonder now what the plan for Tyrone Taylor is. If Phillips is the CF of the future then Taylor has a lot of players challenging for corner positions. There of cours is Braun and Davis at the MLB level but also guys like Santana, Reed, Roach and Coulter around the same age. Should be interesting to see who prevails or is traded.
Kaminsky seems like a pretty decent return for Moss. I wouldn't mind if the Brewers received somebody like him in return for Lind. A 20 year old lefty in A+, pitching well and doesn't have to be added to the 40 man.
If they have the patience to wait until next September to call him up they really shouldn't call him up at all next year and delay free agency until 2024.
For me all the games come in the 2008 season. I went to a lot of games in September and going into that last week the odds were against them still to make the playoffs and the feeling at the time was they could maybe lose one game that week. 9/22/2008 - Prince Fielder with a walk of home run against the Pirates 9/25/2008 - Ryan Braun with a walk off grand slam against the Pirates in extra innings. 9/28/2008 - Brewers beat the Cubs, lead by CC Sabathia and Ryan Braun to clinch a playoff spot for the first time in 26 years. As an added bonus pretty much everybody stayed to watch the Marlins beat the Mets on the bid screen. 10/4/2008 - It was a great atmosphere at Miller Park as the Brewers beat the Phillies in game three of the playoffs led by Dave Bush.
Well I don't think he is a loogy because his splits against lefties are not that great. Doesn't mean he couldn't be a big leaguer, but he will have to continue to get righties out at a consistent rate. A Neal Cotts type guy maybe.
No, not disappointed at all, a fringe prospect was about the best you can hope for there. However with Lohse there is not much of a chance at even a fringe prospect because he is so bad, so what is the point in keeping him.
Is it even worth trying to trade Lohse after seeing what they got for Ramirez, who was actually productive lately? I guess the money is an issue but as a fan I don't really care about that. As you stated earlier, if they go with a 6 man rotation give a guy like Burgos a shot as they have to make a decision on him at the end of the season anyway.
The Goforth addition to the roster seems kind of odd, almost seems like they are delaying a decision on Lohse until the San Fran series when Peralta would be set to come back. They still could potentially stick with Lohse and also add Peralta to the rotation so that they have a six man rotation. Then they could just send Goforth back down. If they get rid of Lohse then Goforth can stay.
I guess I wasn't expecting much for Ramirez so a potential bullpen arm that throws in the upper 90's is fine. Doesn't look like he will have to be added to the 40 man after the season either.
Thanks for bringing that up as I didn't realize how much they were moving him around this year as he only played second base last year. Still playing second the vast majority of the time but has played every position this year including pitcher.
Very interesting how the average age in the top 10 is slightly below 20. Got kind of used to the top Brewers prospects being in their mid 20s. Nice job reillymcshane putting the list together with comments.
Seems pretty aggressive to start a guy that has been playing at A+ most of the year and has not done that great in his couple starts in AA. I'll go with the Brewers shelling him.
Agree, he should be gone. It doesn't really even matter if you are on the selling side or hold out hope that the Brewers can compete for a wild card. He is useless on this team.
