  1. There is a story that MLB gave a service time proposal that would include guaranteed free agency by 29 1/2 using July 1 as the cutoff. Just another reminder that the new agreement can close the Brewers window sooner than maybe some think. With this Woodruff would be a free agent after the 2022 season vs. the three years of additional control the Brewers currently have. https://nypost.com/2021/09/01/mlb-makes-new-service-time-proposal-to-players-union-sherman/?utm_source=flipboard&utm_medium=syndicated&utm_campaign=partnerfeed
  2. It is still early but my guess would be 14 position players and 12 pitchers. Think they will go three right and 3 left on the bench with Pina, Urias, Taylor, JBJ, Jace and Vogelbach. From the initial post I imagine Strickland is a near lock at this point. Will let September play out to determine pitcher 12 but my guess would be Ashby or Norris but of course injuries happen.
  3. Unfortunately MLB has made it difficult to have Quentin Berry type players anymore.
  4. Too hard to say, such a small sample as he can't stay on the field, constantly injured.
  5. Most likely not, in the past September did not count toward the 45 day rookie status eligibility but that changed so September/October days will count.
  6. I would generally agree with this. Escobar is due back this weekend, I think the Brewers will try to manage with Urias/Adames/Wong/Reyes/Peterson at the 3 non-1b infield spots until he's back. Lopes doesn't serve a purpose at this point barring multiple additional injuries...knocking on wood. kolten wong is expected to go on paternity leave, perhaps as soon as the weekend series vs. his former team. if eduardo escobar isn't activated by then, and tim lopes has already been dfa'd, do you want keston hiura as the paternity leave replacement? They already have Reyes to backup the infield. It would be Urias/Adames/Peterson/Tellez. Lopes would be a very poor solution if there were multiple injuries long term, Robertson and Westbrook wouldn't be any worse.
  7. Right. To be precise, the Dodgers are already three games ahead of the Brewers, record-wise, so there is no passing being done. Brewers have to make up 3 and 4.5 games on LA and SF in the last month to be the number one seed. I am intrigued by the possible scenarios that could play out in the Dodger series that ends the season. But, that's September's problem! It will be an October problem whether it is regular season or playoffs.
  8. Really what does it matter what we are hoping, the players are highly competitive and are motivated to win. I want the Brewers to finish second in the NL but what I want has no bearing on anything the Brewers do. I won't even have a rooting interest for these games as I will be sleeping when they are going on.
  9. neither of your suggestions are on the 40-man roster. you've implied that hoby milner would be dfa'd, but who else? Lopes and Yardley DFA. I really don't want Yardley pitching to a single batter in the playoffs so wouldn't mind if somebody pick him up.
  10. Pretty boring but will go with Vogelbach and Gustave for the two additions. Milner is first to go on the pitching side and Reyes on the hitting side when guys come off the IL.
  11. Maybe create a new thread if you really want, there is a magic number one as well. It makes more sense to keep at 97 as that would be the franchise record.
  12. Castillo has been pretty mediocre at Miller/Amfam Park and for whatever reason usually has control problems. If Woodruff pitches like he is capable should be another win.
  13. And ALWAYS in favor of the Reds. I'm seriously considering not even watching to this series anymore. How can you not at least think it's possible that the fix is in? Follow somebody on Twitter that indicated the same thing but then did research and realized the Brewers as a whole were getting more calls against the Reds by a pretty large margin.
  14. Fine with me, keep paying Molina and let productive players like Wong walk.
  15. Per MLB, the runner on second rule is not being done in the playoffs. As part of MLB's health and safety protocols during the COVID-19 pandemic, all half-innings after the ninth will begin with a runner on second base in the 2020 regular season. This rule will not be in place for the 2020 postseason or the 2021 campaign. https://www.mlb.com/glossary/rules/designated-runner
  16. I don't believe that was the case with September in years past, options could still be burned but there would be no real reason to call somebody up and option them since anybody on the 40 man could be called up previously. Should be more common now that a guy could be called up in September and sent down the next day.
  17. This past year he was the Brewers best shape of his life story. It isn't fair to say he has poor work ethic but will he keep the high level he was at this year, only time will tell.
  18. I guess it was a way for the Pirates to try to save some money. Polando will stay with the Pirates if nobody claims him. Doubt anybody will want him at that price.
  19. Maybe because it is this late in the season he will keep a spot but the 40 man is full and they will probably bring up somebody else to replace him plus Vogelbach when he comes back.
  20. I don't think he is in today's game. Maybe in the days if the loogy.
  21. He has two more guaranteed years on his large contract, imagine 3000 hits is a given.
  22. It could be a 1 day stint on the 60 day IL.
  23. Good stuff there. Have seen the strikeout and Simmons jumping in Fingers arms before but not the actual footage from the 8th and ninth
  24. I don't think there would be much playing time for Vogelbach the next 5 games. Let him stay sharp and hit in AAA and bring him up next weekend in Minnesota. Bring up somebody else for now.
