  1. Based on my photo memories, it looks like Apple has updated Miller Park to American Family Field, but they didn’t take into consideration of dates. Boo, Apple and boo, American Family Field
  2. I cant see how it could matter. I’m guessing this is more for optics than anything (just like the metal detectors that were added a few years ago).
  3. Yes, now hopefully we can still fill some holes in the offense so we have more than two runs when we get to the seventh inning.
  4. Although this scenario is unlikely, it would be amazing: The Brewers kick the reigning World Series Champion Dodgers out of the postseason in Milwaukee. As the Brewers celebrate their post-season series win on the field Buehler’s deleted tweet is displayed on the scoreboard.
  5. Yeah, but would you go with mtrebs field or mtrebs park? Maybe go old school, the mtrebs grounds, has a pretty nice ring to it. No, I meant the Schlitz or Blatz names. Sure, I’d have to fork over some money for that as well, but whatever.
  6. He must have deleted it already. The sad thing is, with MLB’s economics he isn’t really wrong. It’s a jerk move, but we can’t compete with them in the long haul. But, yes, I hope he gets a few fastballs in the ribs when we play them.
  7. I’d think that if either of these would have been the new name people would have been ecstatic. Maybe if I win one of those $900 million lotteries I’ll try to buy naming rights and use one of these.
  8. That's totally not true. We were 1 game from winning the NLCS. If you're in the dance, you've got a chance. Billy Beane used to say he could build a team to win over 162 games, but it's a crapshoot in the playoffs I agree that we had a decent chance in 2018, and actually 2011. I know 2020 was totally non-standard, but the chance the Brewers had of winning the World Series was about as close to zero as you can get. So, the point I think that the original poster was trying to make is more that outside of a few outliers, that the big-payroll teams have the realistic chance while the small-payroll teams have only a slight chance and need lots to go their way to win it all.
  9. I hope so, but I always say putting on a Brewers jersey drops your batting average significantly (as opposed to putting on a Cardinals jersey, which somehow seems to improves your output).
  10. My guess is that he’ll remain unsigned but not retired in case the Brewers are in contention for a playoff push and then they could sign him for an epic September.
  11. I like this move... and I don’t like anything. So there’s that.
  12. This guy tends to give the Brewers fits too, doesn’t he? Or am I just imagining this since lots of guys give the Brewers fits.
  13. That would still piss off half of the country though... True. You won’t get away from pissing off large amounts of the population no matter what you do though. That being said, I would highly doubt they’d go this route. If anything they’d likely go the route that upsets the half of the population that would like this approach.
  14. I still think that when the Braves re-brand that they should still remain the Braves, but drop the Native American reference and replace it with an American Soldier (similar to the Patriots). I doubt that this will happen, but that would allow the team name to remain and still have meaning.
  15. Since this thread has deviated from signing Jace Peterson (puke!) to a discussion of fandom... I think everyone has enjoyed the "success" that the Brewers had in recent year. Watching the recent teams (except for 2020) has been very exciting and there has been some good and very good teams. It's a world of difference compared to a decade earlier. The sad part is that unless the Brewers can somehow catch lightning in a bottle (which the did in 2018 but just fell short), the best that they'll be for a period of time is just a good team that may have some outlier very good years. So, while the team has been much more entertaining and has produced well for an extended period during the regular season, not producing in the postseason with a WS win, or even a WS appearance takes away from that for a bunch of fans... not while those seasons are occurring, but rather in the grand scheme of things.
  16. Alienating half of your followers by pushing politics when you are a sports writer will do that.
  17. Nope. But the likelihood of the Brewers winning a WS anytime soon isn’t very great, so we have to focus on other things. While I am ok with AmFam Field being the name of the stadium, I still feel that Miller Park aligned way more with the fans, the team, the city, and the state. It was perfect. AmFam Field is just “fine”. On the other hand, if it would have been named AmFam Field when it originally opened, I don’t think many would have complained.
  18. If you are in Wisconsin, I’m pretty sure that for cable/satellite companies, if they change the terms in any way (including removing channels) that you have the right to cancel without penalty, even if you are mid-contract. Not sure if this works for the streaming “cable” providers or not.
  19. Protect local broadcasting rights. FS Wisconsin would be worthless without blackout rules. This is a huge deal with MLB as every team is through some sort of regional sports network. I thought The MLB app broadcasts the regional sports networks, so if you were watching the Brewers you’d have the choice of watching Fox Sports Wisconsin’s broadcast or else the opponent’s regional sports network’s broadcast. Is this not the case?
  20. MLB could just get rid of the blackout rules and allow Brewers game to be broadcasted to Wisconsinites via the MLB app. I never understood those blackout rules, at least outside of the immediate vicinity of Milwaukee.
  21. Can always put him on the IL to buy some time, can try to work out a deal with the Dodgers to keep him if you don’t want to keep him on the major league roster all year. No team did that. No one traded their best player for him either...
  22. It’s not just a store, it’s an actual baseball team. Some of their alternate uniforms are based off of some MLB teams uniforms/logos, including the Brewers. I think that’s less offensive than them just selling knock-off apparel. That’s what’s I thought was happening based on most of this thread. I don’t know the legality of them making these knock offs, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s common.
  23. I have no idea how much the Brewers were spending on the social media team, but it has to be peanuts compared to an average MLB player's salary. This is not a good sign at all. Granted, every penny counts, but it takes A LOT of cuts like this to make up one Eric Sogard. I'm very nervous for what the 2021 team will be. If you have been paying attention this has been the effect of the shortened season with no fans, teams have been shrinking their non-player personnel and costs. These type of contractions do not affect wins and losses on the field and are apparently much more palatable than dropping talent from the roster and going from a playoff contender to an also ran. Sure, but the point is, if the team is cutting these types of personnel to minimize expenses, it likely doesn’t bode well for the player expenses as well.

Granted, every penny counts, but it takes A LOT of cuts like this to make up one Eric Sogard. I'm very nervous for what the 2021 team will be. How do we know for sure it was cost-related, though? Perhaps they just decided to go in a different direction? We don’t, but it would seem odd to do a 180 since their social media team was held in such high regards by many people.
