  1. Whenever I'm in the Minocqua area I like to play a little game called count the Illinois license plates. That keeps me busy for hours...
  2. I know this wasn't at Miller Park, but it was a very memorable home run for me...I remember a game against the Reds at their old stadium. The construction for their new stadium was under way and Sexson hit a blast that went out of left-center field and landed in the construction area waaaaayyy out of the park. It landed near a port-a-potty if I recall. When I saw that I thought to myself that it was 500+, but the announcers said it was estimated to be something way lower (like 425). Does anyone else remember this?
  3. This is extremely stereotypical. All Cub fans are not stupid. Oh wait, I guess they all are. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/tongue.gif
  4. I had a similar situation a few years back where I wanted to find out the name of a song played at Miller Park. I ended up emailing the Brewers via some email address on their website. The person that responded sent me a list of all the music that they were playing at the stadium. I ended up going on amazon.com (or some other music site) and played a clip of every song in the list until I found it. Maybe this would work for you. By the way...the song I was looking for is "Last Night" by The Strokes.
  5. I really hate the new trend of fast zombies. What happened to the good old days when zombies were slow and gas was under $1.50 a gallon?
  6. Believe it or not but this is the very reason I keep an aluminum bat under my bed.
  7. I picked up the game today at Best Buy using my $5 rewards coupon. Unfortunately I won't be able to play it for a while as I will be in Hawaii for the next two weeks...isn't that a shame? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/tongue.gif When I get back I'll spend most of my evenings watching the Brewers so I won't get to play it except on days when the Brewers have off or maybe on a weekend.
  8. If you didn't open the 360 yet, you should take it back and go to Best Buy and buy the game and console at the same time so you get the $50 gift card. I'm pretty sure that they both have to be purchased on the same receipt so they probably won't let you just show them the receipt to get the gift card when you buy the game.
  9. Is it possible for many people to connect to a Slingbox at once? If so, could we use this to broadcast Brewers games to our fellow brewerfan.net members who aren't in the home market (or who get blacked out)? This would have worked for today's game since myself and many others could not see the game since the Bucks were on FSN. Is this legal to do? If so, would anyone be interested in offering this the next time a game is not on FSN?
  10. I saw the fist fight as well, but it wasn't that great of one. I was in section 407. Some girl also puked in the entrance to 407 shortly after that. I love Opening Day, but I do miss the days when there weren't as many totally wasted people at Opening Day. I still plan on going to future Opening Days, but this does make it less-enjoyable...I guess I'm getting old.
  11. Did you get three offers for Opening Day tickets? I did not get picked as a lottery winner, but I did get the 2nd chance last week as well as the 3rd chance sent out today.
  12. Bill (clap-clap-clap-clap) Hall (clap-clap-clap-clap) Is it just me or is that quite possibly the worst chant ever?
  13. I totallly agree about Quaker's Crunchy Corn Bran. I remember eating it as a kid and loving it. I didn't see it around when I was college...probably because I rarely made it into a grocery store and I spent most of my time in the liquor department, but I saw some in one of the Copps grocery stores in Stevens Point a couple of years ago. I bought it every time I went to the grocery store for a couple of months and then switched to some other kind. I should check again if they still have it. I could go for a bowl or two right now!
  14. I just got done playing Bioshock on the Xbox 360 yesterday. I have to rank it up there with one of the best games I've played. I don't have a lot of time on my hands to play games (only 1 or 2 hours a week, if I'm lucky) so I don't want games to be extremely difficult...I'd rather just enjoy the story and the gameplay. I am very thorough in games, so at the rate of 1 or two hours a week it took me a couple of months to finish on the medium difficulty (which wasn't very difficult). I'd imagine you could finish it in a weekend or so, but it's one of those games that you don't want to rush through. I'd highly recommend it.
  15. Narveson is a good buddy of mine's first cousin. My friend told me about him a couple of years ago when he was in St. Louis's minor leagues and then when the Brewers picked him up. My friend said he hasn't talked to him in about 15 years until he talked to him at one of the first spring training games this year. I've been impressed with his stats every time I see a game review. It's always nice to have extra depth.
  16. I got mine too. I know it's overpaying for a crappy seat location and for sub-par food. I will get to enjoy all the beer I can drink, and although I'm not in my drinking prime anymore at 28, I can still down them with the best of 'em. I'll be at the game and that's all that matters to me. I can't make it down to too many games anymore. I used to have a 20-game package when I was single and my brother lived in Milwaukee, but now I only make it to a couple of games a year. I don't want a miss an Opening Day for the rest of my life, so I will have to overpay a little. I am thinking about buying a 9-game pack in 2009 if you can still get an Opening Day ticket. I'd just have to sell some of the other games that I can't make it to then.
  17. I checked my credit card last year and it was $60, so it jumped up quite a bit. It's still worth it to me though since I can only make it to a couple games a year and don't want to miss out on Opening Day (since it's my favorite day of the year). Anyway, last year our ticket from Leff's put us one or two sections away from Bernie's dugout...so the seats weren't that good. There were hundreds of people at Leff's tailgate party so I'd imagine that the tickets might be spread out. They were very strict on carding everyone as they walked in.
  18. I'm losing hope that I'll be able to get Opening Day tickets thru a bar now. I guess I'll have to resort to eBay or stubhub.com in order to not miss out...unless someone here has extra tickets and wouldn't mind helping out a fellow brewerfan member. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  19. Last year at Leff's tailgate party we paid around $70 per person. It came with a Bernie's Terrace ticket (or maybe Terrace Reserved, but we were sitting very close to Bernie's Dugout) so the seats weren't that good. There were quite a bit of drunks there but that doesn't bother me too much. You also got all the food you can eat (low-quality mass-produced brats, hot dogs, and some other meats that I can't remember) and then all the beer you want. There was also a band in there. I would much rather just get tickets on my own and grill out by my car but this is still a good time. There are some things that I really like about the party...mainly the port-a-johns. I remember many Opening Days where after drinking many beers that I thought I was going to pee my pants because the lines at the port-a-johns in the parking lots were extremely long. Even the bathrooms at Helfaer Field get way backed up. I wish the Brewers would get around one-hundred port-a-johns per lot on Opening Day. I remember one Opening Day we were parked in the lot north of I-94 and there were 6 port-a-johns in it (two on each end and two in the middle). It was rediculous. I paid someone to use their RV toilet. Anyway...at Leff's tailgate party (and at Saz's when I went there two years ago) I rarely had to wait more than 3 or 4 people to use the port-a-john.
  20. I collect coins and by cleaning that coin you most likely lowered the value of it. I know it seems strange since I'm sure it looks nice and shiny now, but when you clean a coin it creates little imperfections (like scratches, rub marks, etc.) that lower the value.
  21. I used to order my Opening Day tickets online the first day individual tickets were available, but as you all know that isn't possible any more. So for the last two years I have been stuck having to get an Opening Day ticket package thru a bar. I went to Saz's party two years ago and to the Leff's Lucky Town party last year. Anyway, I'm up in the Stevens Point/Plover area and I've been checking these bars' websites regularly for the last week or so and I haven't seen any ticket/party packages available yet. I'm assuming these will sell out quickly so does anyone know if any bars have any Opening Day ticket packages available yet? I've been to every Opening Day since 1999 and can't miss one! Thanks.
  22. I'm giving up chips. This basically includes all chip-like snacks (Doritos, Cheetos, tortilla chips, even pretzels, etc.). Not that I eat them that often - I don't even keep them in the house - but when I eat them I eat the entire bag in one or maybe two sittings. It really only affects me on treat-days at work...but it seems like we have one of those every day.
  23. We don't have FSN HD on Charter in Stevens Point. We did get FOX (WFXS) HD the day before the Packers/Seahawks game. That was a nice surprise. It was nice to see the playoffs/Super Bowl in HD. Hopefully we get FSN HD by the time the season starts.
