  1. Depends on what the goal was. If it was to be competitive, then he was successful. If it was to win the WS, then the decisions he made (and a bunch of unfortunate injuries) weren’t a success. Are we blaming a GM for a “bunch of unfortunate injuries” now? No, I didn’t mean that. I mentioned that because it played a large part towards how the year ended up as well. The team Stearns put together was good, good enough to overcome those injuries and still make the postseason, but not quite good enough in the end. With a more solidified pitching staff, the Brewers likely would have won a few more games, theoretically enough to win the division, and they could have been in a better position in the postseason.
  2. Where the Brewers were at after the 2018 season, I’m still under the mindset that 2019 was the year they should have made the big push by acquiring necessary starting pitching. Stearns went a different approach that I didn’t agree with and it failed, even though they got to the postseason. Because of that I don’t consider Stearns’ 2019 a success. Edit: We’re getting off topic here so I’ll stop with this now.
  3. Interesting, because I think the job he did as GM in 2019 to make the team competitive in the end was fantastically good. Depends on what the goal was. If it was to be competitive, then he was successful. If it was to win the WS, then the decisions he made (and a bunch of unfortunate injuries) weren’t a success.
  4. I'm cheap when I go to Vegas so I try to find the places with inexpensive/free beer... and I don't mean waiting for an hour at a slot machine for one free beer. I used to go more frequently (before I had kids) and I'd often sit at a bar in the downtown casinos. As long as you were playing they'd give you drinks for free. I'd tip $1 per drink but that's basically free for Crown Royal and Diet Cokes. Often the in-bar machines had 25-cent blackjack so you could play for quite a while on $10. The last time I went to Vegas was for work in 2016. We ended up going to the Flamingo and I didn't feel like playing blackjack. I wandered over to the bar and what do you know, 25-cent blackjack! Nine Crown Royal and Diet Cokes later and only losing $10 gambling, then the rest of my group showed up. I used to LOVE going to Casino Royale. It had the small casino feel and had $1 Michelobs (which I normally don't drink... but I do for $1!) and they used to have $1 margaritas. When I was there in 2016 I learned that they didn't have the $1 margaritas any longer, and I found out shortly thereafter they raised the price to $2 for Michelob. Prior times out there I played this 100-hand poker game where you played one-cent per hand. You'd get most of it back every deal, so you'd play for a while. We had a group of four guys and two of us would tip the waitress every round. She would come back every 10-15 minutes, to the point where we had to get water. That was a heck of a deal. They did open a White Castle in Casino Royale, so that was my first ever White Castle experience. It was good, to help soak up the drinks, but other people told me they aren't that good when you aren't drinking, lol.
  5. This is the first time I’ve seen Miller Park referred to the AmFam name outside of the renaming context, and it makes me sad. Hopefully Urias can have a big boost in Miller Park too (in 2020)!
  6. I have a neighbor that stops and backs in to get their mail. When they do this when I’m behind them and I have to wait for them it drives me nuts.
  7. I’m good with Pina. Not so sure about Nottingham. Would rather have someone with some more experience.
  8. I wonder if Stearns' inaction means a trade for a catcher is in the works? I'd be ok with Pina and a decent backup if they re-sign Moose and get a much more productive SS. Firstbase and pitching also has to be addressed pretty soon. Yes, I hope there’s something in the works. Last thing I want to have happen is we continue to wait for options and nothing happens.
  9. This catching situation is getting me nervous. I know it’s early, but there’s obviously a run on catchers now. Time to you-know-what or get off the pot Stearns!
  10. I always buy American autos and haven’t had significant issues with any. I tend to buy American-made products when it’s a feasible option too. Makes me feel better to support these companies. Whether accurate or not, i feel that I’m not contributing as much to the downfall of American companies than if I were to purchase foreign automobiles or other goods.
  11. This. This is why I was so upset with the pitching approach we took last year, getting rid of Miley and counting on three I proven starters.
  12. While Arcia’s offensive approach is extremely frustrating at times, his defensive skills make him bearable, as long as the guys around him are capable offensively. With Grandal, Moose, and Thames gone, I don’t believe that SS is where we need to focus. Catcher will likely be a weak offensive spot in the 2020 lineup, so we need to get plus bats at 1B and 3B.
  13. Yes, I think it's anyone older than them that they don't agree with, regardless of that person's mindset. Doesn't matter if it's a mindset that's typical with Baby Boomers or not.
  14. That seems too clever for the masses. I wouldn’t be surprised if the majority of individuals saying “OK Boomer” think it’s just anyone that’s older than them without knowing the real context.
  15. This is the part that annoys me. If you’re going to make smart-@$$ comments, then take the time to make sure you are correct. Otherwise you just look like a moron. Read any Facebook post where someone complains or criticizes something and someone will post “OK boomer” even if the person is 20-30 years removed from being a Baby Boomer. That being said, I fully expect to get an “OK boomer” reply to this...
  16. Cheerio pisser When I read this the voice in my head was a strong English accent, and it took about 2 minutes for it to actually click. Cereal not foreign.... Don’t mean to be the Debbie Downer, but I can’t make myself like them. I wanted ball and glove back, but this just feels too retro, if that’s a thing. Maybe they’ll grow on me, if not I’ll promise to only complain about it in every other IGT next year... I never would have caught on that he really meant the cereal Cheerios. I totally took it as the British greeting.
  17. At first blush, I’m happy with all of them. I know... I’m just as surprised at that as you’ll be. I think they did a good job honoring the past but not dwelling in the past. Now, let’s sign some key players for these new fancy uniforms!
  18. Maybe the Brewers intentionally leaked the new BiG logo to throw everyone off and they are going to surprise us all with something completely different. That being said, there’s always the potential that the leaked logo was a prototype and it will be different as well.
  19. Agree. The bridge is the part that I dislike. Reminds me in for unnecessary yellow material in “Milwaukee” on the navy blue jerseys, where the seam is on the chest. That excess yellow always seemed off to me, just like this bridge will.
  20. I’d rather them have kept it completely alone, however I’m not hating the new one. My least favorite part of the new one is the connected area between the ‘m’ and the ‘b’. They are blended together too much now so it’s even harder to distinguish the ‘m’.
  21. Saw this article where the Brewers could be a good trade target to acquire Lindor for Hiura and Grisham. https://www.12up.com/posts/4-blockbuster-francisco-lindor-trades-that-would-change-mlb-01ds3dhz3vk8/partners/40030 It’s 12up, so it’s garbage, but it’s interesting. What’s your thoughts on this?
  22. While the “living in the past” likely has some validity, I don’t believe it’s the case for most. I think the original BiG logo is the best logo in sports, period. That’s why I want it back.
  23. Took Nilsson quite some time to recover. Between that and going away for the olympics and then calling it a day, his career could’ve been so much more. Does Steve Sparks dislocating his shoulder attempting to tear a phone book in half qualify? Didn’t someone injure themselves with salad tongs and also someone (Wes Helms) injure his knee slipping in the tunnel near the dugout?
