  1. I would have rather the Brewers spent $30 million per season on an ace or a stud position player during the time we have Yelich to better our chances or winning a World Series. I don't feel that the Brewers are doing enough to take advantage of the time we have him here. Instead they are counting on a bunch of buy-low deals and hope for career years. The likelihood of that happening isn't that great, so we'll stay competitive but never be good enough to win it all. This is similar to the Packers approach ever since the Super Bowl XLV. Rodgers makes up for a lot of shortcomings, but that only can get them so far. When they play truly great opponents they are just outmatched.
  2. I don't know. It's already a feature in their system, so they should be able to indicate it on the electronic distribution of each ticket on a game-by-game basis, so it really wouldn't be any additional effort on the Brewers behalf. I think they should do that for all Cubs games.
  3. I wouldn’t be surprised if the Brewers would withhold the barcode information for Opening Day until that morning to minimize reselling. This is what they did with the NLDS tickets when there was a chance it could have been against the Cubs. I think the did this for all the postseason tickets in 2018, actually.
  4. I did see some that offered youth sizes, but I don’t know how small they go. The thing that’s weird is there are so many vendors selling on that site. Seems like your experience could go good or bad depending on what vendor you happen to choose.
  5. I do not...I think I ordered the cool base. I did some Google searches and it sounds like the Flex base are equivalent to on-field jerseys, with mesh areas and the longer tail. Cool base are more tailored to fans... the “replica” jersey style.
  6. Do you happen to know the difference between the Cool base and the Flex base jerseys?

  8. I don’t think one is coming. The team has been assembled for depth and will be competitive, at a lower payroll than last year. Competitive, but most likely not championship caliber unless everyone exceeds expectations somehow. Will keep fans in the seats, but likely not enough to win it all. I’m hoping that the payroll savings is to sign Yelich to an extension, but I’m not holding my breath.

  10. To Mr. Haudricourt's reporting... Maybe Haudricourt needs to ask if we’ll acquire and above-average players. Not excited at the current state of the team.
  11. Now there are rumors of the Cubs and Cardinals looking to trade for Arenado. This would really stink if either happened. I’d love for the Brewers to somehow acquire him (the most likely scenario would be a three team trade involving Hader), but I know the likelihood of that is about as slim as can be. It’s tough being a fan of a small market team.
  12. In all honesty, that won't get it done. At this point, it might be better to trade him either now, or next season. Just can't see us handing out a 245 million contract...………………………………………………..EVER! Yelich is all but gone after this contract. That is why now was the time for us to spend the money and provide additional support that would hopefully get us a World Series. Similar to how the Packers were always a key piece away that prevented them from winning additional Super Bowls while they had Fabre and Rodgers. They team is competitive, so it brings out the fans, but eventually these solo superstars can’t carry the team the entire season. I’m in the same boat, if we are going cheap mode (and I’m not saying we are), I’d rather trade Yelich now and hopefully make a strong run in another 4-5 years than just be competitive but not really have a real chance for the next two years.
  13. In general, yes, however there is a middle ground. I’m all for this signing, but what about more solidified #2/#3 pitchers, which should give a little more certainty in our rotation? Obviously the Brewers aren’t going to spend the $25 million or more for one pitcher, but why not a $10-$15 million per year pitcher? Up to this point the acquisitions that have been made have been in the $1-$3million per year range. Outside of Woodruff we have a lot of uncertainty, similar to our 2019 staff. Now, there’s a lot of time to get these types of players, but the further we go along, the more concerned I’ll be that we’ll go the inexpensive, unproven route for most of the staff again.
  14. FWIW, Haudricourt thinks Donaldson is out of the Brewers price range. I sure hope this isn’t the case.
  15. In general I'm quite pleased Stearns as a GM, but he didn't have viable backup plans when two of the three young starters failed miserably. There was no one decent to plug in to their spots in the rotation until we traded for Lyles. That's not entirely true. Gio was signed early on, was plugged into one of those spots, and performed quite admirably. They also started the year with Chase Anderson in the bullpen, as a viable alternative should the young starters struggle. What they didn't have a backup plan for was Chacin pitching horribly. That’s right, I forgot about Gio being picked up. Prior to that we were in really rough shape though, so we lucked out that the Yankees (I think) released him. There were just so many things that went wrong with the pitching that it was amazing that the team made it at far as they did.

  17. So what you're saying is.... We can revive Narvdog?!? We can and we must. Nope. “El Narvdog!”
  18. Don’t call him out though. I pointed out how he was wrong on Twitter once and he blocked me. I had to disable my account and create a new one so I could follow him as he does retweet a lot of things that I like to see.
  19. I don’t know how he is defensively, but he consistently hit around .270 for over 1,000 at bats, so that’s promising. Will be nice to have one of our many holes filled.
  20. I’m in on the “go all-in while we have Yelich” idea, but I know that isn’t going to happen. I just want to see them win a World Series and I don’t care if they are crappy for a while after that because they are hampered by some bad contracts, but I know this isn’t realistic. It’s in the Brewers best interest to stay competitive even if that means never winning a World Series, than it is to go all-in and spend way over their budget at a risk of maybe winning it all. Of course I wanted Grandal, Moose, and Pomeranz back, but I understand why the Brewers didn’t want to sign them at those costs. The thing I’m most frustrated with is that players are getting picked up faster this year and I’m worried that the Brewers are going to miss out on the good free agents that they can afford (for example Lyles). I believe that we’ll fill in some holes by trading Hader, but there are a lot of holes to fill. I’d feel a lot better if some of them were filled soon.
  21. Nice message and I will miss him in a Brewers uniform. He had two great years and last year was frustrating for him and us. Good luck to Travis and I hope he finds his way back to being a very productive player again but unfortunately it won't be in Milwaukee anymore. I thought it was a little salty mentioning whoever takes him next will get a “HIGHLY motivated and determined player”.
  22. I think “bubbler” is common throughout Wisconsin. Definitely is in Central Wisconsin. I’ve only heard one person refer to sloppy joes/BBQ sandwiches as “hot tamales” and that person is from Howards Grove, Wisconsin. Interestingly enough, I have relatives from nearby Sheboygan and I’ve never heard them use the “hot tamale” term for this food, so I was under the impression it was limited to Howards Grove.
  23. That’s the problem... you’ll likely get ‘okay boomer’ responses to your ideas if a younger person doesn’t agree with it.
  24. I think the loss of Grandal and Moose, and now the talk of Hader being available, are driving the full tear-down conversations, and not losing players like Shaw and Guerra. I am nervous about the future though. I’d be extremely shocked if we will be able to retain Yelich beyond his current contract. That gives us three more years of Yelich, and I feel like our best bet to win a World Series is while he is still with us. That means Stearns needs to assemble a World Series-caliber team within the next three years. There is a lot of activity already this off-season, especially with players that made the Brewers successful last year (Grandal, Moose, and Pomeranz). It’s hard to imagine that Stearns will be able to replace their contributions and still address the other holes we have this offseason. If 2020 is a step back, then there are only two more years with Yelich, and so on. This is what gets me very nervous, and what makes 2019 so disappointing as I felt we were only a few pieces away from having a World Series-caliber team after the 2018 season, and the decisions that were made did not address those needs in 2019.
