It looked like it live but I think the catcher just whiffed on the catch. The replay going into the commercial showed the slighted change in direction as it went past the bat.

Its true. If the ball is not in play, theres no interference. I took it as it was an unlikely situation because the wall was too thick for anyone to reach over, which wasn’t the case.

well the fingers clearly bent back. But again I don't think it changed whether he was going to catch it. The ball itself didn't' really change its path at all. This was my thought as well
