  1. Hopefully tonight’s pitching doesn’t show up too often, but I’m worried that we’ll see this a lot. I didn’t like that we let Miley go, we broke up our strong bullpen to make starters that we aren’t sure how it will go, and now the anchors of the bullpen are injured/ailing. Wish we had one more established starter and another strong bullpen arm.
  2. Is it just me, or does it seem odd that Molina’s chest protector is branded with the Air Jordan logo?
  3. While I can see why they didn’t overturn that call, it sure does seem that the replay calls rarely go the Brewers’ way.
  4. Ump called that a strike on Thames but not the one last inning?
  5. I don't understand it. So the old couple "wants to go back" to when they won a car. But when they won the car was like 2010, and in 2017'ish they're not 35 years older?! Based on the grunge clothes, I’d guess the flashback was in the early-to-mid-1990s, and they appeared to be in their mid-twenties then. This would put them around 50 now, but they look like they are around 70 instead. So, yes, it doesn’t make sense.
  6. Uggh, the fans acted like that routine fly ball was a home run. What are we, the Cubs?
  7. I’ll be in the Molitor lot at 10:00, consuming multiple beers and brats (but not as many as in my younger years). Then we can escape from the craziness to our sanctuary on the Club level.
  8. I don’t think I could take it if the Brewers were finally a strong World Series contender and then a strike killed that chance (a la the 1994 Expos). There’s a good chance I’d have to give up baseball forever (unless the Brewers already happened to win it all prior to then.)
  9. I don’t feel like a jerk, at least not for this... I still stand by the idea that Miller Park was probably the best possible name for theBrewers stadium if it had to have a corporate name. Insurance and financial institution names just don’t have the same feeling towards them. On a separate note, I wonder who is paying to replace any signage on the stadium. It’d seem that replacing the big Miller Park sign on the exterior of the stadium would could $1 million by itself. Is American Family really that much worse though? I don't think anybody is arguing against Miller Park being a perfect fit, but if it's going to be something else American Family might be the best alternative. There's nothing wrong with the words "American" and "Family" being associated with a baseball team. Just searching other corporate sponsors of the Brewers; Associated Bank, RE/MAX, U.S. Cellular, We Energies, West Bend Mutual Insurance, Aurora Health Care, Delta Dental, Johnson Controls, Lubar & Co., Northwestern Mutual, Johnsonville, Klements. Are any of those any better? American Family Field sounds a heck of a lot better to me than Fiserv Forum for example. I consider all of those worse than Miller, with the exception of Johnsonville and Klements, although Miller is better in my opinion. Financial/insurance/medical companies just screams corporate more to me, likely due to them not having a close tie-in to baseball.

  11. Injured really isn’t accurate as the player may no longer be injured, but instead are rehabbing in the minors. They just are unable to play in the majors yet. What could you call someone that is unable to play? “Dis-abled” would seem to be a good term for that as it’s the literal definition of not being able to play.
  12. Actually, some pitchers excel at getting hurt running the bases.
  13. I’m surprised at the lack of love towards Miley. I thought he was our best pitcher over the entire season, and especially at the end of the season and postseason. $4.5 million is nothing for a quality starting pitcher. Even though we have a lot of young talent, you can never have enough depth, especially at that price. We won’t be able to sign a better FA pitcher for anything close to $4.5 million per year.
  14. Heck, could be a reduction. From what I've heard, the Miller deal was $40 million for 20 years and the AmFam deal was $30 million for 15 years, so it ends ups being the same amount. That doesn't give the Brewers any extra advantage with the new deal, unless the alternative was keep it Miller Park for free. I keep hearing that stadium naming rights has gone down in value since the 1990s. That just seems odd to me as NOTHING else in the world has decreased in price since that time. I also was very surprised to hear that it was only $2 million a year for the original deal. Heck, I say in 15 years (assuming stadium naming rights keeps decreasing), that the fans just do a GoFundMe page and buy naming rights for the next 15 years. We can even get someone with the last name of Miller as part of the group and name it Miller Park after them. Sadly, after that we'll probably be seeing the discussions about building a new stadium to replace "The stadium formerly known as Miller Park presented by American Family Insurance on Hank Aaron Field".
  15. Unfortunately “American Family Insurance Park” meets his criteria.
  16. It doesn’t even sound like there is additional revenue because of this. If true, the talk about this being a move to further help the franchise is false. It would only keep the status quo financially while hurting the brand.
  17. It should just be renamed to "1982 AL Champions Field".
  18. I thought the Miller deal was $40 million for 20 years and was signed in 1996. So in 23 years (25 years when it's in effect), there was no increase in value of the naming rights? When I heard the $2M/year in 1996 I thought that was VERY low. I would have thought in 2019 dollars we'd be in the ~$15M million/year range. No increase makes this even more disappointing.
  19. It’s “American Family Insurance Ampitheater” at the SummerFest grounds. No reason to think that “American Family Insurance Park/Field/Stadium” is out of the question.
