    Right now it is 4:07 a.m. in Sauk City, and there is about 6 inches of snow on the ground. Those 6 inches have fallen in about 3 1/2 hours. That's a lot of snow in a short amount of time.

    I heard Da Yooper's "Rusty Chevrolet" on a country radio station yesterday. I haven't heard that song in about 20 years. It still makes me smile.

    WOLX plays "It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year" by Andy Williams about 30 times a day. That and "Blue Christmas" by Elvis. Play some variety. Speaking of Christmas music, can anyone ID this alleged Christmas song for me? It's about a guy bumping into a girl he used to know in the grocery store. He sings about his job and other stuff that has nothing to do with Christmas. I've heard it on both Madison and Milwaukee Christmas music stations.

    I always thought it was amusing that the winner of the Mercedes-Benz contest at Miller Park only got a 1-year lease on the Benz. Couldn't they afford to give away the car completely?

    I know I am going to get some hate for this, but I wish eggnog was available all year long. I love me some eggnog.

    Not sure if anyone saw this, but basically ESPN 1070 and Fox Sports 100.5 are going to do a switcheroo come 01-01-2009. 100.5 will now become an ESPN radio affiliate and 1070 will become The Big 1070. 100.5 will air ESPN radio programming along with keeping Homer's show. 1070 will broadcast Jim Rome and Dan Patrick, along with Heller and Murphy. The best news is that 1070 will be featuring a morning talk show with Mike Lucas and Matt Lepay will have a morning talk show. Those are the only 2 local guys that I actually enjoy listening to.

    I don't really have too many positive memories of my father while I was growing up, but the best memories involve riding in the car with him with the Brewers game on the radio. I guess that's how it started. Plus I met Charlie Moore when I was 4 or 5.

    Charter Cable will be carrying the MLB Network. I believe it will be on expanded basic, and not the sports package.

    Every time a huge snowstorm is forecasted, I always think about laying down a tarp across my driveway. When the snowstorm ends, I would simply pull the tarp away. Voila. No need for shoveling.

    Was M. Night Shyamalan's "The Happening" supposed to be a comedy? I think so, because I couldn't stop laughing at the acting. It was so bad it was funny. Either way, it was much, much funnier than The Love Guru. That's 86 minutes of my life I will never get back.

    Chick-fil-A's chicken nuggets and waffle fries are out of this world. Pretty much everything from Chick-fil-A rules.

    I'll 3rd the White Castle comments. I went to the one by Gurnee Mills. IMO, you must have to be high or intoxicated to enjoy their food. I was neither, so I thought it was rancid. The only other one I can think of comes from Southern U.S. chicken chain Zaxby's. Driving back from Florida, my wife ordered their version of a Bloomin' Onion. We had about 3 bites before it made us sick to our stomach. I don't see it on the menu anymore, which is a good thing.

    This Guns N' Roses is certainly more authentic than a Gary Cherone led Van Halen. Even though Cherone was the only change, it just wasn't Van Halen. Can we all agree on that?

    I have a general HD radio question. Do they sell kits that you can outfit to your existing radio ala satellite radio, or do you have to get a whole new stereo? Money is tight, but I am thinking about jumping into HD radio, mainly for my second question. -Does anyone in Madison have HD radio? I recently heard that WIBA-FM has added an alternative radio station on HD. I cried a small tear when Mad Radio left us for the second time a few years back. Additionally, Star Country has added a classic country station on HD as well. I love classic country. Finally, Z-104 has a hip hop station on HD as well. We already have 93.1 Jamz on the FM dial, but I am getting sick of hearing the same song over and over and over. If anyone here has HD radio in Madison, how are the extra stations? Thanks.

    I must be getting old. When buying the album today, the clerk at Best Buy asked me, "Are these guys a band or something?" Sigh. Very, very good. That is my impression after listening to the album twice. Axl really experimented with sounds and vocals on the album. There is also a lack of really heavy songs on the CD. I had heard 5 of the songs prior to release, but my favorite track is If the World. It has a bluesy/jazz feel to it. I like it a lot.

    Did they close schools ? Were there bread and milk shortages at the stores? No, I'm not kidding. That's tradition in North Carolina when snow falls or freezing rain is predicted. I'm the type of guy who complains more about the 100 degree weather than the 100 inches of snow, so I'll take our winter over an Arizona summer anytime,.

    I'm glad that Night Court is getting a lot of love. That show is so funny, yet it rarely gets mentioned amongst the best comedies of all time.

    Wow, I'm really in the minority. If the local Best Buy stores will be open at midnight on the 23rd, I will be there. I cannot wait for this album to come out. For those who haven't heard them yet, wait until you hear Better, I.R.S., and Madagascar. It will make you change your mind about the album.

    Kapler was on the Jim Rome show a few weeks back. He was a great interview. He was only supposed to be in for a segment or 2, but Rome kept him on for a whole hour. Kapler seems like an awesome, awesome individual. Kapler would not commit to coming back to the Brewers. He said he would like to, but that is up in the air. His main focus was going somewhere he would get a chance to play.

    I laughed when they mentioned the butcher was in the back. Like they keep him in a closet or something until someone asks for him.

    The winner of the Frank Mir/Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira match will be crowned the Interim UFC Heavyweight Champion. That match was set up when Couture was having the contract dispute, saying he wanted to leave the UFC. The winner of the 2 fights (Couture/Lesnar and Mir/Nogueira) will then meet to unify the 2 Heavyweight Titles.
