My in-laws live south of Atlanta, and my brother-in-law is a firefighter with AFD. I've been to one Braves game, and I took the MARTA rail system. The rail system won't actually get you to Turner Field. When I was there, you had to get off the train, walk through the Underground Atlanta shopping center, and then catch a bus to the field. Is is safe? If you feel safe walking around Chicago, you'll feel safe in Atlanta. I was approached a couple times by people trying to sell things to me, but I politely declined and walked away. The best thing about Georgia are the people. Most people say Midwesterners are friendly, but I'll take Southern Hospitality any day. Yes, the traffic sucks. One part of I-75/85 is 14 lanes, (7 lanes on each side) and I still ended up at a crawl near the interchange of I-20. Once you get south of I-20, it's pretty clear sailing especially to the airport.
