  2. Sorry, I missed this. Ring of Honor was at its best in 2005. Their roster was stacked. At one point or another in 2005, the ROH roster consisted of: CM Punk, Colt Cabana, Samoa Joe, Jack Evans, Homicide, Bryan Danielson, Nigel McGuiness, Brian Kendrick, Jamie Noble, Austin Aries, Jay Lethal, Alex Shelley, Christopher Daniels, Low Ki, plus many more. I'd start there. The Ring Of Honor DVD Joe vs. Kobashi (10-01-2005) is a must watch. A couple random thoughts: Is anyone here playing WWE '12? I'm enjoying it a lot. The Road to Wrestlemania can drag on for awhile, but I really liked the Jacob Cass storyline. Man, I miss WCW. If anyone plays online with the PS3, feel free to send me a friend request. I'm at: silly_penguin_ Finally, I always knew the WWF had racist tendencies (Booker T vs. HHH feud, every black wrestler dying their hair blonde, a female valet with the name Sapphire, etc.) in the past, but the Jive Soul Bro video is one of the most blatantly racist things I have ever seen. I won't link to it here, but go on Youtube and search "Jive Soul Bro full version." You'll be sickened.
  3. The Knockout division is like one big stupid storyline. I can understand having a women's division when you have that centerpiece star like a Sable, etc., but just having one when you have no star is just pointless to me. The sad thing is, I believe that when they break down TNA's ratings, the Knockout segments are generally the highest rated ones of the show.At one point in time, the Knockouts division was the best thing in TNA. Gail Kim and Awesome Kong (WWE's Kharma) had an amazing feud. They still took a backseat to the WCW and WWE castoffs, but at least they were treated on an equal level as the X-Division.
  4. Why do people at certain professions have a higher level of suicide? or substance abuse? To immediately suggest that the ONLY reason MLB players have a higher % of ADHD diagnosis than that of the gen. pop. is that MLB players are using it to gain a competitive advantage is a pretty big stretch. Maybe I should have phrased it this way: How many people in the general population have access the medical care that MLB players get? There are a TON of variables at play there and suggesting it is solely for performance enhancement is......... well, just flat out wrong imo. Baseball is an intense game which requires a high level of commitment and focus to excel at - it would not surprise me in the least bit if the higher % was simply a natural occurrence. Patrick worded my thoughts better than I could. Major league baseball players are being prescribed drugs like Adderall and Ritalin to get around the amphetamines ban. That's why so many MLB players are diagnosed with ADHD. http://www.thedailybeast.com/newsweek/2008/02/05/baseball-s-other-drug-problem.html
  5. Because it's an easy way for athletes to use steroids. Tons of fighters use it to get around the rules.Ding Ding Ding In the same respect, 103 Major League Baseball players have a therapeutic use exemption to take an ADHD stimulant like Ritalin or Adderall. 103 is roughly 8% of all MLB players. Compare that number to the general population. Only 1 to 3.5% of adults are diagnosed with ADHD. So, why do so many MLB players receive a therapeutic use exemption so they can take banned stimulants? The answer: It gives them a competitive advantage. http://bleacherreport.com/articles/643751-adderalls-on-first-ritalins-on-second
  6. I have the opposite opinion as brewtank34. In my line of work, I deal with a lot of "Not MY child" parents. Example: "Ma'am, your daughter was arrested for drunk driving. A concerned citizen following her for two miles called 911. According to the citizen witness, your daughter could barely keep her car on the road. When officers made contact with her, she stunk of booze, performed poorly on field sobriety tests, and then was arrested. Her BAC was a .15 when the Intoximeter test was administered." The response I've heard, "Not my child. You must be mistaken. Someone must have spiked her drink. I don't trust the police. This better not appear in the paper. I'm getting a lawyer, and I am going to sue you guys." Another example: "Ma'am, your daughter was arrested for retail theft. She was in possession of $45 in cosmetics that she did not pay for." Response, "Not my child. That doesn't sound like something my child would do." My response, "But ma'am, your daughter was caught on surveillance camera looking around for employees, and then seen placing the cosmetics in her purse. Response, "Not my child. You are wrong. I know my daughter, and she is not capable of such a thing. She probably just forgot she put them in her purse." Just like there are people condemning Braun, there are people showing blind loyalty to Ryan Braun. None of us actually know Ryan Braun. You may think you do, but you don't. Our heroes are capable of making foolish mistakes. Good people do stupid things. The FACT is Ryan Braun's sample tested positive for a performance enhancing drug. Braun's camp admitted to such. You can play the conspiracy theory game and say his sample was switched, tainted, etc. However, the phrase being thrown around by Mark Attanasio and others is "no intentional violation." That scares me. That sounds a lot like Barry Bonds' flaxseed oil and arthritis cream defense.
  7. The following quote is from an MLB.com article after A-Rod was linked to steroids. We will see if Braun still feels the same.
  8. I was there at about 1:00pm on Saturday. Really disappointed. About 75% of the clothing available was NL Central Champs and playoff gear. Tees were 10 and hoodies were 30. No jersey shirts left. I overheard a guy say there were many more clothing racks out the day before. There seemed to be plenty of open space compared to years past. The nameplates for the lesser known/unknown players were spread out across a table. The prices were posted on Post-It notes. Many of the Post-Its had fallen off. I'm curious if any people did a switcheroo with the prices. I think the laminated nameplates were supposed to be $1 and the thicker, more detailed ones were $5. With the exception of playoff hats, the only fitted caps available were my size (7 3/4), but they were ugly and not worth $15. Lots of Brewers records and shot glasses left. I purchased an NL Central champs hoodie, a couple packages of Silly Bands for the kids, and a Hernan Irribarren nameplate for 5 and an Allen Levrault spring training nameplate for a dollar.
  9. I'd love to see it, but I don't think they would turn Cena heel. Too much money in merchandise sales. Plus, he is the #1 wish granter with Make a Wish Foundation. If you have Netflix, the WWE documentary The John Cena Experience is streaming. Dave Meltzer has commented how involved Cena is with charities, but I had no idea. I have nothing but respect for the guy after watching that. An interesting side thought on turning Cena heel... Do you remember how the Hart Foundation (Bret, Neidhart, Davey, Owen, and Pillman) were heels in America but super-babyfaces in Canada? I'm curious if there is a scenario on how Cena can be a heel to adults, but still be a babyface to the kids. About 50-75% of adults boo him now, but it would be interesting to see him 100% heel.
  10. Rosenthal also tweeted that Sveum has been offered the Cubs job. Matheny, now potentially Sveum. Are there any manager spots open for Pat Listach?
  11. I hate to keep plugging Dean Ambrose (the former Jon Moxley), but he and William Regal are in the middle of a terrific feud in FCW. This is their first match. Regal is snug as can be with his punches, and pounds the snot out of Ambrose after trapping him in the corner turnbuckle. THEN, Ambrose works the final 1/3rd of the match with one arm. His other arm just hangs there dead. Terrific work. . To top it off, the Regal promo in the second video is outstanding. Real emotion. Moxley plays the psychopath perfectly. This promo is a million times better than anything I've seen in the WWE in years. ?
  12. The show has really just been spinning its wheels the past few weeks. Completely drawing out the Sophia and Carl storylines. Did anyone actually think Carl was not going to recover? HOWEVER, business is about to pick up next week with the return of Merle.
  13. I've tried to like TNA, but the goofy storylines and booking has turned me off again and again. I also hate the look of the Impact Zone in Orlando. It reminds me of WCW Saturday Night or WCW Worldwide. The Orlando fans drive me nuts too. Many are more interested in getting themselves over with their stupid chants. I'm going to give TNA another chance due to both Bruce Prichard's promotion to head writer and the fact they are doing more Impact tapings on the road. --- Changing gears, has anyone been watching the new Ring of Honor show? The show airs in Milwaukee on both Channel 18 (Saturday 1pm and Sunday 3am) and Channel 24 (Saturday 9pm and Sunday 10pm.) In Madison, the show is on Channel 47 on Saturday night at 11:30pm and 3:30am. I like the pacing of the new show compared to ROH's old HDNet show. However, I do not like the commentary team of Kevin Kelly and Nigel McGuinness. I vastly preferred the HDNet commentary team of Mike Hogewood and Dave Prazak. "SLAP THE PORPOISE!"
  14. I'd hate the Cardinals a little less if Matheny would become manager. One of my favorite ex-Brewers and one of the toughest guys in baseball.
  15. If you search YouTube, all three matches in the Ambrose/Rollins series are up. Ambrose is amazing. He is completely different than anyone else on the main roster. I can't quite put my finger on who he reminds me of. A little bit of a young Roddy Piper, with some Brian Pillman and Matt Bourne added as well. William Regal can't help but gush about him on commentary. As a matter of fact, Ambrose and Regal wrestled at the last tv taping. Can't wait to see that one.
  16. The new Apple iOS 5 update. I lost approximately 1 out of every 10 of my cover artwork with the new update. They also changed the way artists and their songs are listed on your Ipod. For instance, say you have two of (fill in artist here) albums saved to your ITunes account. You also purchased a couple of singles directly from ITunes. All of those songs will appear under the artist name on your IPod. However, songs by the same artist will no longer appear under the artist name if the song appears on one of your saved compilation albums. I have numerous compilation albums (Now That's What I Call Music, soundtracks, Time Life collections, etc.) saved in my ITunes account. Example: Before the update, I could select Johnny Cash, select all albums, and then select all songs. I would have my choice of about 20-25 songs. After the update, I only have a choice of the songs I saved from his albums American IV and The Essential Johnny Cash. The Johnny Cash songs that appear on compliation albums like Time-Life Contemporary Country or the Time Life Classic Country no longer appear under Johnny's name.
  17. If you don't like it you can hit that fancy interact button and then ignore user's posts instead of complaining about other posters. Seriously, there is an ignore button? I've been a member here for 5+ years and I had no idea.
  18. I hope they don't resign Yuni mostly so I don't have to read Logan's posts trashing him nearly every single day. It made me stay away from the Major League forums for awhile this season.
  19. How rare is the Corey Hart Bowling Green Hotrods bobblehead? (Given away on 08-18-2011, featuring Corey in his high school uniform.) I had never seen one listed until recently. The ccd7 guy has one up on Ebay, with a B.I.N. of $89.95. Anyone get it cheaper? There haven't been any sold on Ebay in the past 15 days.
  20. The first two songs on my stereo last night prior to game 4 were Written in the Stars followed by All I Do is Win. It worked last night, so I listened to both songs about five times each on my commute to work this evening. GO CREW!
  21. http://stlouis.cardinals....ting/postseason_info.jsp You can still order tickets directly from the Cardinals website for all 3 games in the series. Pathetic. Brewers fans aren't passionate? Brewers fans aren't loyal? Brewers fans are a bunch of bandwagon jumpers? Playoff tickets in Milwaukee sold out in a heartbeat, yet there is a chance that the games in STL may not sell-out. I guess Cardinals fans are really taking this "Act like you've been there before" mantra to heart and not showing up at the stadium.
  22. So CM Punk and HHH are buddies now? It was pathetic seeing Cena, Sheamus, and Punk kissing up to HHH. Not to mention HHH burying the entire roster with his broomstick comment. All the momentum they had after Punk's promo was killed on one horrible edition of Raw.
  23. Hopefully it will be Saito, K-Rod. and Axford the rest of the way. EDIT: Actually, If I had my way, the Brewers would pile on 9 more runs so Narveson and Estrada can finish it up.
  24. YUNI BOMB!!!! fgfjgifjgfdgdfgifigdfig As frustrating as Yuni's approach at the plate has been this game, that was a heck of an at-bat. Added: Way to go Luc! Love your defense this postseason. Need to get your bat going too.
