  1. Any reduction in prices and subsequent increase in sales volume would stretch their food making capacity, which is already iffy. The pizza wait is at times unbearable, and even the wait for sausage products seems long. I'm not sure they're staffed or equipped to put out 25 or 50 percent more food.
  2. I think it's fine. I think he's asking you to speak highly of him, should someone call or write. A lot of times, subordinates are unsure what supervisors "really" think of them. And if they list you as a reference and then you run through all of their faults to a prospective employer, that would be bad.
  3. Good to know...though they better make a fresh variety for Miller Park. That heat & eat stuff will NOT make me feel cherished.
  4. I don't think they have a hot dog product, a chorizo product, or a polish sausage product-- at least not on their website, or in their current retail product line. But, they were the sausage provider at County Stadium from 1978 to 1988 and the press release said they were producing those (plus bratwurst and Italian sausage) at Miller Park this year.
  5. Klements not feeling cherished at the moment. I hope that the new sausage vendor is awesome. I thought it odd that Usingers was a tv and radio sponsor, but Klements sponsored the Sausages and made the in-house product. If the new sponsor is Johnsonville, maybe they'll have a Charlie Murphy mascot chasing the sausages? One can only hope.
  6. Thanks for the kind words, Bike. You've been a source of good info for me, too. I'm not a Packers or football fan, so there may be other places that specialize in football stuff, but I often go to Heritage for prices on high end material.
  7. There are a few certificates listed on the Heritage Auctions archive. Surprisingly, the priciest piece there is a 1950 issue, which sold for $3,107 in 2014. It's beautiful and has nice football graphics and content. Going back, there are a couple from 1919, issued by the Indian Packing Company. Those pre-date the GB Packers, though apparently, the team grew out of that entity. Those certificates each sold for less than $700. And they also have a couple 1924 Acme Packers certificates that sold for less than $600. Everything I described sold since 2011. The Indian and Acme pieces aren't especially eye catching, though they are interesting documents. I think you'd have to buy and sell it as a piece of art. I don't know if it has any tradeable value on any exchange, or any transferable ownership rights. It's just a piece of interesting paper.
  8. I love the weekly podcast conversations that he and Carson Cistulli share. I'm going to miss that a lot. Cameron is a smart guy who recognizes when stats seem to be missing a bigger picture. He's very insightful and will add a lot to the Padres.
  9. I can't believe the number of first round failures the Brewers had during that stretch. It's really stunning how little value they have been able to get out of those players. Was it a draft failure or a development failure? In nearly every year, there were players taken after the Brewers pick who went on to stardom, or at least valuable performance.
  10. I looked at her Twitter feed after learning of her death and the last tweet before the announcement of her death was only a few hours older than the announcement tweet. It's also how I learned about the documentary: http://www.rosemariemovie.com/. Now I'm interested in seeing it. I wasn't aware that she was a child star, with a career long before Dick Van Dyke. While there weren't many credits in recent years, she still did some work, and that's a 90 year run. Good luck topping that..
  11. Sad to learn about Rose Marie. I was following her on Twitter and she (or whoever may have been managing her account) seemed in good spirits up until the end. There is a very recent documentary about her, and she was able to enjoy some very late in life attention. RIP, Rose Marie-- and thanks for all the entertainment!
  12. Gagne was terrible. Days after his signing he was named in the Mitchell report, made a non-apology, and then pitched poorly. He is not alone on the list, but to me, he stands as my least favorite signing.
  13. August Fagerstrom used to work at Fangraphs and is now in the Brewers front office. Kiley McDaniel used to work at Fangraphs and is now in the Braves front office.
  14. The moves are still there to be made. This Winter Meetings has largely been a bust, because most of them are busts. Deals get made into January and February. If the week ends without any roster activity, it would be boring, but it wouldn't be a failure.
  15. I do have a Dan Thomas, and it's the one autograph that I have that is most troubling to me. It's a note written back to a fan, very polite and cordial. He lived a tragic life that likely caused tragedy in at least one other. Not sure I want to sell it, though if you get me on another day I might.
  16. Good luck on Miguel Fuentes. I've never seen one, though I spoke with a dealer years ago who sold one for $1000+
  17. Morris has a unique resume for the era he pitched in. I used to get worked up about the HOF and inductions, etc. I still love the place, but Jack Morris being there isn't a big deal to me either way. Trammell is certainly deserving, too. I don't understand how Ted Simmons and Marvin Miller didn't get in. With Simmons, maybe I'm just being a homer, but Miller changed the game in an enormous way. Seems like the management side is holding old grudges.
  18. I'm not a club seat holder, though I do get up there once a year or so. I didn't think it was in bad shape, but I guess it's better to make improvements before those customers start to complain. I don't think they're doing anything to those suites, just the common areas, no?
  19. Great deal for the Yankees, as their commitment to Stanton is much less than they would have to pay Bryce Harper in free agency. That said, these big money deals, limited to a handful of teams, are always depressing. The Brewers (and many others) are forced to shop in the discount section while the Yankees and Dodgers have the run of the store.
  20. I miss watching baseball every night, but one good thing is not having to see McConaughey and his stupid contact lenses.
  21. Kevin Keating is the only autograph dealer who I know has handled those guys in the past. I understand he's working for an authentication house now and has suspended sales from his company, though he might be open to individual transactions. The Net54baseball.com community might also be a source of info for you. You might find someone up in GB with a grandfather's collection, etc., but otherwise, both of those guys will be pretty pricey.
  22. I've heard Coppolella speak in interviews and he comes off as really odd. He seems awkward and nerdy and not what one would expect of a high ranking official. He was on Buster Olney's podcast last Friday (9/29) and was peculiar then, as always. Apparently, MLB's offices were tipped by an insider who was put off by Coppolella's style and tactics. Besides the rule-breaking nature of his actions, he was reported to be disrespectful of staff in meetings with yelling, etc. I imagine that he's probably done in baseball. There are enough Ivy League types who have come into the game in recent years, there should be no shortage of people in the pipeline for prime baseball jobs.
  23. Boom! Nailed it! My baseball knowledge is awesome! I missed badly on W/L. I didn't expect anything out of their pitching and was happily surprised. I stumbled into the Travis Shaw pick, but I'll take that win. It doesn't seem like the Jorge Lopez era is upon us. Still hope he finds some MLB success.
  24. I was at the game on Sunday--admittedly a day game, sitting in the family section--but I made the rounds to several places in the park, and while Cubs fans were out in droves, I didn't see any rudeness, fights, etc. Just a lot of people there to support their team. As much as I wanted to hate them, Cubs fans gave me no reason to do so.
