  1. I would actually classify Davis as no defense.
  2. I remember Bombo Rivera. Believe he broke up a Jim Slaton no hitter in like the 8th inning once upon a time. That was the last season at the old Metropolitan Stadium in Minneapolis. Edit: Nope, remembered that incorrectly. Slaton had a no no into the 9th but it was broken up by Sal Butera. Hrbek got a single after that and then Hosken Powell hit a three run dinger to blow the shut out. Confused Powell with Rivera. Probably the first game I remember watching on TV...although guess I don't remember it as well as I thought I did https://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/MIN/MIN198109050.shtml
  3. I've been cut??? Crappy way to find out.
  4. They might be selling low on Santana but I don't know if they are really in a position to risk trying to have him play his way back to high value. He could very well hit 40 dingers next year if he's healthy but I think the odds are just as good he does what he did last year. It's a good risk for a rebuilding team like Seattle - not so much a contender like Milwaukee who has other options.
  5. He was. But he would also have been involved in trading away Josh Hader. Touché
  6. I think Stearns was with Houston when they traded Santana in the first place.
  7. Which board? Not seeing much yet. Northsidebaseball. The Cubs really thought they were bringing in Harper. I really hope he goes to the White Sox. Sliver of a chance but it would be so great.
  8. A lot of people around here wanted the Brewers to draft Homer Bailey instead of Mark Rogers.
  9. Is there anyone entering the last year of their deal that we could trade for? Probably not gonna happen but throwing it out for discussion.
  10. Yes and I think they've admitted as much.
  11. do tell. we have a LF, CF, SS, 1b, and C that are RH, and our park favors LH hitters. I'd like another lefty if possible, especially since most pitchers are righty. I think the need for a RH bat stems from the rotation the Cubs throw at them. Certainly with Shaw at 3rd and Murphy at 2B, they'd have Perez in the lineup at one of those spots against a LH pitcher, but he's not the threat against LHP that either Shaw or Murphy are vs. RHP. . They play the Cubs 19 times. The Cubs have, presumably, three lefties in their rotation. All three of those guys will be on the wrong side of 30 come opening day. Even if they stay healthy all year you are looking at what...11 starts total against the Brewers? I don't think you make roster decisions based on 11 games.
  12. This looks weird. The A's seem to be receiving a lot of their own stuff... Time is a flat circle
  13. Had an 816 OPS at home last year. Seems like a weird split given SD's dimensions. Guess that's because of the 400+ BABIP. I will be surprised if he's on the roster most of the year. Good AAA insurance.
  14. It was great, couldn't have asked for a better way to grow up. This was the mid to late 70's in Southwest Wisconsin. I am still in touch with some of those neighborhood kids, and we often talk about how great we had it...lol You're just repeating the plot of The Sandlot. I thought it was the lyrics to that Kid Rock song about smokin' funny things.
  15. Given they are on rookie deals, getting solid minutes from Brown and Wilson would be huge next season.
  16. That's enough with the political stuff, guys.
  17. Dude made a typo. He admitted it. And I think it was pretty obvious it was a typo even from the start - especially if you add up the money totals - which you did. Then raking him because because his 'something like $40M' actually adds up to $41M? I don't get it. Not really obvious with possible deferrals that the Brewers like to do on big free agent contracts. Then he used a contract the Cubs gave out and tried to relate that to the Brewers which is just an awful comparison. Could I have been a little more courteous; especially on the 40 million? Perhaps. Could posters take two seconds to check their posts before hitting submit? Yep. To quote you: "Sigh"
  18. I'm 46 and my 401K is 100% in S&P index funds. I'm actually looking to move my Roth into an equal weighted index fund...waiting for money to transfer right now.
  19. Seemed like a fairly ridiculous article to me. Eye-test doesn't indicate that Rodgers drop in completion percentage has anything to do with avoiding interceptions. Seems like Rodgers drop in completion percentage has more to do with way too many inaccurately thrown passes. He leads the league by far in throwaways. This blurb is from after the New England game and it's not gotten better since then: The 39 extra incompletions have helped tanked Rodgers’ completion percentage, which sits at 60.6 after eight games. His career-low since taking over as a starter is 60.7, set in 2015. Turn even half his throwaways into completions, and Rodgers’ completion percentage would jump to 66.3 – proof of how impactful the spike in throwaways has been to his overall efficiency. From Dec 10: Going into Week 14, Rodgers had thrown the ball away 53 times, which is an absurdly high number when you consider that no other team in the NFL has more than 30 throwaways this year.
  20. I thought it was a decent article until the right turn into the economy and labor. That was weird.
  21. I think an adviser can be useful in regards to tax and estate planning. But I would never get one for investment advice particularly one that received a commission for any trades you make.
  22. Completely forgot about Allison. Hopefully they can find a viable slot replacement for Cobb.
