  1. Jayme Closs was found alive. Crazy.
  2. I'd take quick slant over quick screen.
  3. Could say the same about Marwin Gonzalez. This would be a valid point if I was banging the drum for Gonzalez but I'm not, so I'm not exactly sure what point you're trying to make. I was kind of agreeing with you and also bringing in Gonzalez since others have been mentioning him. Sorry wasn't so clear.
  4. What they probably should do is just get rid of arbitration and let players become free agents instead. Then players would get their "worth" in their peak years instead of waiting until they are 29, 30, 31 years old.
  5. That's the whole GMs getting smarter thing. 32 year old catchers aren't worth 5/80. Trick is to find a way to pay players more in their more productive years while maintaining competitive balance. Doesn't change the fact that the landscape has changed. If that's because of GM's then so be it.
  6. Could say the same about Marwin Gonzalez.
  7. Before the 2015 season, Russell Martin signed a 5 year $82 million contract with the Blue Jays. He was two years older than Grandal is now. Before the 2014 season, Brian McCann (same age as Grandal now) signed a five year deal with the Yankees for $85 million. The landscape has changed.
  8. Harrison can play multiple positions and doesn't K much. Fits the Stearns profile at least. I'm ok with him on a 1 year deal.
  9. I guess my opinion is that there are too many holes to fill to justify giving up early round picks for Brown.
  10. I am of the mindset that GB signs a guy like Tate rather than give up assets for Brown. Then your top three would be Adams, Allison, Tate...that's a really good starting group not to mention the rookies and Kumerow.
  11. Jared Cook... imagine that. How much did they blow combined on Bennett and Graham? Yeah that was peak Ted.
  12. Might have some kind of religious connotation...about Vermont.
  13. Michael Cohen had a really good article in The Athletic about roster needs and potential FA's. Mentioned Jared Cook, Za'Darius Smith, Golden Tate, Adam Humphries, Cole Beasley, Preston Smith and then possibly Adrian Amos, Earl Thomas or LaMarcus Joyner as possibilities (among others)
  14. I think Jackson is going to move to safety.
  15. Except Bluemound itself... Story Hill is literally one of the safest neighborhoods in Milwaukee. I mean compared to Shiocton? or Mayville? Yes, there might be a few more robberies and what not. But for a small to medium to big sized city that area is incredibly safe. Edit: Actually, I looked it up. Mayville had more thefts in 2016 than Story Hill neighborhood did in all of 2018. There were more assaults in Story Hill but that includes the Miller Park parking lot and Miller Park itself.
  16. I approve particularly if he keeps Pettine which it looks like he is.
  17. Yeah. All either team had to do was pick up the ball and they would have gotten it at that spot. With how things are taught today I'm a little shocked nobody did. This one will probably be changed in the off season. It's just too counterintuitive. To me you are just asking for scrums after the whistle blows the way things stand right now. They have to change that rule.
  18. So if an Eagles player picked the ball up and returned it for a touchdown after the whistle, it would have been a dead ball where he picked it up?
  19. I'm rooting for Chargers vs Philly just because that would be a cool storyline.
  20. That almost makes up for the Packers season.
  21. Valerio is a little dude 5'7". Let's hope for Jose Altuve redux (plus an inch or two).
  22. Yeah you're right. I just saw he had played one year in the minors. Didn't see how old he was. More advanced than the return for Lind.
  23. Just glancing at these guys but it seems like Hill and Valerio are lottery tickets similar to the return for the Adam Lind trade. Valerio tore up the DSL as an 18 year old.
  24. Per Jon Heyman tweet "The Milwaukee Brewers have acquired right-handed pitchers Bobby Wahl and Adam Hill and infielder Felix Valerio from the New York Mets in exchange for outfielder Keon Broxton."
  25. I think “a crap ton” is a bit of an exaggeration. There are like three or four. Also “walking distance” is a bit of a stretch too. I’ve made that walk before and have regretted it about halfway through. If you’ve never actually walked from Bluemound to the stadium it’s a lot further than it seems. And on days when it’s either really cold, really hot, or raining making that walk is absolutely miserable. If you have young kids? Forget about it. As far hotels right by the stadium. Not everyone needs it but some people like it. I much prefer it so I don’t have to worry about either taking public transit or paying for an Uber. Ive been to games in Cincinnati, Pittsburgh and Minneapolis and have stayed at nearby hotels on all three cities. It’s a very nice option. This doesn’t have to be an either or in terms of tailgating or development. As I said there is a bunch of land east of the stadium that probably could be bought up and turned into a stadium district. It would leave plenty of room for tailgating. Right with about all of this..... and who wants to walk that long at 10:00 P.M. in backstreet Milwaukee? This really made me laugh. Thanks!
