  1. Their offense isn't all that innovative and why would Fitzgerald give up the security of a contract that runs until 2030? His contract runs through 2026. Assuming he makes $3.5 million per year that's about $28 million. He'd probably make more than that on a five year deal in the NFL. Maybe he wants a new challenge? And he has a relationship with Mark Murphy. Not to mention the guy is only 43 if he flames out in the NFL he can always return to the college ranks. I'd be willing to bet Northwestern would take him back with open arms. At any rate, I'm just throwing out a name for discussion.
  2. Watched Ballad of Buster Scruggs on Netflix last week. I can't say it was the best Coen Bros thing I've ever seen but I really enjoyed it. They just nail that old western dialog. My only qualm was that of the shorts only one or arguably two had a discernible beginning, middle, and end. Most felt like Act I of a three act play. Tom Waits in particular was great. He needs more acting gigs.
  3. Stalker was first on my list.
  4. Whoa. I liked Corbin but that's a bit steep.
  5. McCarthy went into turtle mode in that NFCCG with the play calling. He's not solely responsible because a lot of that was just bad luck but he didn't help.
  6. I like Pettine but I am also ok with the new guy bringing in whomever he wants.
  7. Yes McCarthy worked hard. Yes I think he was a decent coach. Yes I'm glad he's gone. Am I toasting cocktails? No, but I don't really feel sorry for the guy either. He lasted 13 years in a job where the average is probably like 3. He was very well compensated and he'll most likely get another head coaching gig.
  8. I wonder how much injuries plays into the bad special teams? This assumes the Packers have suffered more injuries the last 5 - 8 years than most teams and I don't know if that's the case. But if it is then you are continually putting new guys out there on special teams who are either cast offs from other teams or practice squad dudes.
  9. I really like Fitzgerald but I wonder if his rah rah thing would work in the NFL? His teams are always very solid and they have an innovative offense.
  10. I think firing him with a month to go thus saving him four weeks of rumor mongering could be considered doing him a favor.
  11. At this point I am totally fine going 4 - 11 - 1. That's a top 10 pick.
  12. I think that's the key that people have a hard time wrapping their heads around. You can live for 40 years on $1million if you live a certain lifestyle. The issue is that most people don't want to or can't do that. The thing that would prevent me from ever doing FIRE is health. In this country your life savings could be wiped out in a year if you got some genetically related disease.
  13. Great road win over, Iowa. I like this team.
  14. This is the real issue. You will guess wrong on some moves or non-moves, but you have to make the moves for the right reasons. Once they decided to acquire Moustakas and play Shaw at 2B, they should have crossed Schoop off the list. In a vacuum, I would have been fine with taking the gamble, and even with gambling on him again next year, but I think they had an itchy trigger finger at the deadline and that's not a good way to operate. If Schoop had a .900 OPS for the Brewers there'd be no talk of "fit". He didn't hit. Period. If he had he'd have been a fit.
  15. Didn’t he cry when he was told he was traded to us?
  16. How far along are you? I've been meaning to watch more Bergman but the fiancee would make it about five minutes so I need to do it while she's not around. I definitely have a few Tarkovsky films on my list for the near future.
  17. Thing is the defender is usually backpeddaling so falling down isn't much of a stretch. Just let momentum and gravity do their thing.
  18. Wow... a Ricky Olson comp. Haven't heard that name in 30 years. Dude would have scored twice as many points (he scored over 1700) if the three point line had been around back in his day.
  19. Welcome back, Robert!
  20. Thanks for the heads up. I was aware of the Filmstruck disintegration but didn't know Criterion was doing their own thing. Didn't they used to have a deal with Hulu? Anyway, this is great info.
  21. I don't have time to look but wonder what MadBum's numbers are early in games vs late.
  22. Some people want to donate money upon their death to a charity.
  23. Didn't play that great and still found a way to come back and win. I like this team.
