TH made a good point the other day that the money they saved on payroll the last couple of years has been spent on upgrading other things (concessions, buying the minor league team, upgrading spring training, etc.). So they have money to spend and maybe now are looking to spend it without selling the farm (sort of pun intended).

When I was in school in the early 90's it was first come first seated. Worked great my sophomore year as the team was getting good but still hadn't turned the corner. I remember 60K for a Purdue game and thought it was ridiculous that many people showed up. I guarantee you that if UW had three or four years in a row where they missed a bowl and then all of a sudden had a good team again those stands would be full by kick off. But....that's not really an option since they are always good Frankly, they should just allow students to enter the building and sit like the rest of the fans. You can see the tunnels packed with people at kickoff because they have to wait to get to their stupid seat. University is so scared of another stampede that they've over corrected the situation.

Since the kids in the show are roughly the same age I was when the show takes place there's a ton of nostalgia. Not only that but it's well crafted and very cinematic. I have one episode left in season two. Looking to finish it tonight.

Yeah that is a joke, Paul. That is something the NCAA needs to look at. You should be playing conference games only once non conference is over in Aug/Sept

I think if Archer was 27 I'd be much more inclined to try and nab him but at 29 he has a lot of innings under his belt. I feel like he wastes a lot of pitches which is why he can't go deeper in games. That plus the Rays would continually throw him out there in the 7th inning after he was already at 100 pitches (the is anecdotal on my part. I followed him quite a bit last year). I have no idea if someone tracks pitching performance by pitch count but I'd venture that Archer was really bad after he hit 100 pitches. Since Matt Arnold came from TB he knows Archer inside and out. Brewers will make an informed decision one way or the other.

High end internet is too much internet for a lot of people. Unless you are streaming content on multiple devices at the same time you can usually get away with lesser speeds. Speaking of cell service, I finally ditched my iPhone and Sprint and picked up a Motorola G5 and republic wireless account. Saves me like $40 a month.

Total errors is misleading unless you know total chances. If a guy has 1 error in 10 chances he's not a better defender than a guy who had 5 errors in 100 chances. Even knowing that you aren't getting the whole picture.

Harrison is getting a ton of pub this offseason. Looks like a lot of people think he'll really break out in a big way next year (more than he did this year). -

I'd be real hesitant to part with Arcia. I think he could be a star.. Much higher ceiling than Dubon.

He's extremely tough to hit the first two times through the order. However, the third time through, teams hit .302/.366/.486 off him. The Rays treated him as their "ace" and so they weren't inclined to pull him when he got in trouble before the 7th inning. Used properly and with a good middle inning bullpen, he'd be closer to his FIP of 3.40. The Ray's pen wasn't very deep. No doubt the manager stuck with Archer a lot, and when he did get pulled, the pen let in his runners. So while he's a very good pitcher, with excellent stuff, he's not a true ace as he's basically a 6 inning guy. I'd still be very interested with Santana as a part of a package if the plan is to sign another big bat like Hosmer which would allow them to move Thames to RF in platoon with Perez or use Phillips there when Brinson shows he can hit enough to play nearly every day in CF. A Thames/Perez platoon could be as productive as Santana alone. The key would be replacing the production at 1B. As a Chris Archer fantasy owner, I concur with this assessment. Pretty sure he's got a lot of innings under his belt too.

Agreed and world class facilities are world class facilities regardless of location. However, it could be a hindrance for the Brewers if FAs are considering the location of the Brewers spring home versus every other team in the Cactus League. Granted Spring Training is a month in March, but if you are having to rehab an injury during the year in Arizona, I sure would rather be rehabbing in any other location in Arizona than Maryvale. That's where I believe this deal is shortsighted. I'm pretty sure that would be the first FA in history to use spring training neighborhood as the reason they don't play for a particular team. -

I think 8 team would be about perfect in terms of "fairness" but then you're adding another game onto the schedule and as has been mentioned it would dilute the regular season even more.

I think Cobb is a good buy-low kinda guy. You could potentially get #3 starter performance out of him at a discount due to the recent Tommy John surgery. Brewers were much better on D last year so that means the lower K rate might not be as big a deal.
