  1. My parents took a picture of said display at Barnes and Noble. I'm sure my dad told everyone walking by that his son wrote a book.
  2. It started out with a Google News search. He found a bunch of newspaper headlines from the Milwaukee Journal that were online. From there it was off to the Wauwatosa Historical Society, Milwaukee Public library, Wauwatosa Police, etc. etc. Found some relatives of the deceased (not sure how...maybe Ancestry.com?) and went from there.
  3. Trout could win MVP and ROY the way he's going.
  4. Hey people. My brother recently published a book about the murder of a young boy in Wauwatosa back in the 20's. The parents of the murdered child (case never solved by the way) ended up moving to a different part of Wauwatosa and then sold that house to my parents. Our "quirky" neighbor lady was the first to clue us in on the death of the young boy. So we have sort of a personal connection to the story beyond growing up in the same general neighborhood where everything took place. If this sort of thing interests you, check it out: http://www.wuwm.com/programs/lake_effect/lake_effect_segment.php?segmentid=9475
  5. 1) No, his 2011 performance was pretty consistent with his 2008-2010 averages. B) The only season he ever had that was close to 2012 was 2006 when he was injured and only pitched 56 innings. No "regression" - age, or statisticaly anomaly - would have projected anywhere near this performance. Actually I take it back. He hasn't regressed that much (not that regression for a 35 year old should be a big surprise). His secondary numbers are right in line with what he's done the last few years. The only significant difference is a slight uptick in home run percentage and a decrease in LOB %.
  6. So banned members from the old system can rejoin us anytime they like? Do they know this???
  7. There was also the guy who claimed Brian was trying to sell the website to someone and therefore deleted posts that were critical of Brewer management.
  8. Brendan Katin - 24 back in 2007 Matt LaPorta had 20 in 84 games the year he was traded. Cringed looking at that lineup and seeing Angel Salome's line (.360/.415/.559). Oh what might have been....
  9. Hendrickson's dad was my all time favorite. Also enjoyed the guy who was, how should I put this, very proud of being Jewish. He lasted about three days before getting the boot. He threatened to ruin the Brewerfan tailgate. It never ceases to amaze me the number of people that just can abide by the forum rules. That number has dwindled over the years. I suppose word gets around other boards that this place is actually moderated.
  10. Wolf pitched over his head last year. He was due to regress.
  11. Fire Roenicke's replacement!
  12. Pretty sure Eric Ferris would be starting at 2nd base if JB had his way.
  13. If you go to the comment section on JSOnline and mention Brewerfan, you can find all sorts of former posters
  14. Burgos just struck out the side in the 6th all on swinging third strikes.
  15. I'm guessing that's because the offense and starting pitching have been pretty good. I bet most crappy bullpens are on teams with either bad hitting or bad pitching in general. Just my guess anyway.
  16. Burgos was roughed up for two runs in the first inning and then K'd two in the second. Same thing happened when he made his first start in AA. Khris Davis is on some kind of tear. 3 for 3 tonight so far. Average up .386 (yow). Realize he doesn't have many AB's but he certainly can hit. Wonder if he'll stick in the OF? Segura with two hits now...
  17. So I think we're going to not only see Hiram Burgos making his Nashville debut today, but Ariel Pena making his debut as a Brewers player as well. I have nothing to confirm that Pena will start today, just an educated guess at this point. That Huntsville team is loaded now. They should be favorites to win that league...assuming no one else gets a promotion.
  18. Because he is forced to advance to 2nd there. In your analogy of trying to stretch a single into a double, he is awarded a single because he reaches 1st base safely but then chooses to try to to stretch it to a double. He is not forced to advance to 2nd. Morris was upset with your explanation and hit a home run to show you who's boss.
  19. Fiers bad!!!!! Er, uh, good!!! http://www.marywshelley.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/12/frankenstein.jpg
  20. Oh. Great. [/blue] At this point, who really cares? Tank the season and improve the draft position.
  21. Worrying about Itzuris over Bianchi is like wondering which chair to save on the Titanic.
  22. Hey if Wayne Franklin can get Carlos Villanueva anything is possible.
