  1. I really need to watch that series recap they had right before the premier. I've forgotten all sorts of plots points and character interactions.
  2. brewcrew, The Big Ten is probably tied for third best conference in the country with the Big East. Not sure where you're getting "average" from.
  3. I started a thread over on the political board since it's starting to look like this one is headed downhill. Feel free to post over there and mock others opinions openly and without regret. http://brewerfanpolitical....com?topic=754/master/1/
  4. Man how much has Jordan Taylor improved from last year to this one? PG is in good hands the next two years.
  5. Yes, I realize that.
  6. They're doing it from Milwaukee to the Illinois line.
  7. This would further dilute the already more or less meaningless in season games.
  8. Paul, Who has mentioned traffic in Milwaukee? And no one has said travel from Chicago to Minneapolis accomplishes what they need. It's like a 7 hour trip as it stands. Again, this is less about MKE to MSN and more about the overall project of improved service of Chicago to MKE to MSN to The Twin Cities.
  9. Anyone drive up 41/45 from Milwaukee to Appleton? 45 splits right after Lake Butte Des Morts. We used to take the two lane highway back when I was a kid and it took about 1 hr and 25 minutes to get from Oshkosh to my dad's hometown. Now that same highway is four lanes almost the whole way. It takes us 1 hr and 10 minutes to get to my dad's hometown. So for how ever many millions it took to expand that stretch of highway, I can now see my uncle's farm 15 minutes earlier than I used to. And did we really need to make Hwy 10 four lanes from Appleton to the booming metropolis of Fremont? Now we're spending about a billion dollars to expand I94 from Milwaukee to the Illinois state line. This one really confused me - I drive that stretch at least once a month and there's never any traffic problems. Even now that it's at two lanes due to the construction there's no traffic problems. We have enough roads and enough lanes to go around - more than enough in much of the state (although I'm sure Wally in Winneconne is grateful that he can get to his ice shanty on Lake Winnebago 5 minutes earlier in the morning). WiDOT can easily afford a $7.5 million allocation towards trains as long as they stop with the irresponsible over building of roads and highways.
  10. And you better believe I'd be taking the train from O'Hare to Madison instead of Van Galder bus line, which can take 3.5 hors in rush hour getting out of Chicago and/or in bad weather. The last five times I have flown back to Madison I've had flights canceled and had to take that bus. If this train can cut that in half I would definitely use it. --------------------------------- Sorry to burst your bubble but the train doesn't go from OHare to Madison - well not directly anyway. You'd have to take the EL from O'Hare to downtown and then take the Amtrak to Madison. There's no Amtrak service to OHare or Midway.

Thanks, Al. I'm actually in grad school so I could get insurance that way, but there's a clause that says any pre existing condition cannot have re-occurred in the last year. I need to get more details on what that entails (1 year after you sign the policy? 1 year in general?) but this looks like my best option right now.
  12. I've seen all sorts of stats on this thread from 110mph to 60 mph from one stop in Madison to two proposed stops. I've seen Amtrak only makes a profit in the northeast but ridership has doubled on the Milwaukee to Chicago line - that line loses money? Anyone know where we can go to confirm all this stuff?
  13. Anyone have ESPN Insider? There's a Keith Law article on sleepers for 2011 and one of the pics is a pitcher from the T_Rats. Pretty sure it's Peralta but was wondering what the write up on him is.
  14. I am also curious about the "success" of the Milwaukee-Chicago rail line. It has seen recent popularity increases, but I wonder if that will be the cas3 when the 8-lane I-94 is finished. Most likely, people will choose to drive. I have gone to Chicago many different ways, including the train. I found that the most convenient/cheap is to drive to the northern suburbs, park for free, and take the commuter rail into the city. A group of 4 of us once took the train to Chicago: the total cost was $160! Gas is going to have to cost about $10/gallon to make that a smart decision for a family. -------------------------------------------- A few points on that: - ridership began to increase even before it was announced they were widening this stretch of road - There was never a traffic problem on that section of highway....there still isn't and it's down to two lanes on the northbound side. - It will always be faster to take the train at rush hour. Always. The traffic issues reside once you get about 10 miles from downtown Chicago. The train is almost always a 90 minute ride downtown to downtown. A car is 90 minutes on Sunday morning - and might be 180 minutes at rush hour. - It will always be cheaper to drive an entire family than take a train or fly. The cost benefit of a train is topped out at a group of maybe two people - travel by car may be cheaper in real dollars, but you still have to drive, pay attention to the road, deal with accidents, etc. My time is valuable and worth something too. If I can work, read, sleep, drink, etc. that means a great deal to me.
  15. I think the point to emphasize is that this is part of a larger plan for high speed from Chicago to the Twin Cities. I live in Chicago and you better believe I'd be taking a train to Madison instead of driving I-90. That's probably where the bulk of the eventual ridership comes from. The Milwaukee to Madison part is just frosting.
  16. Right but if you have to wait for a bus and then ride a bus, that's an extra 30 - 40 min to your trip which sort of removes the "high speed" from high speed rail and will knock down ridership quite a bit, IMO.

No, still single. Know anyone? Preferably female...

The thing with my pre-existing condition is that the medication I'm on makes me susceptible to a bunch of other things. So maybe I have a pre-existing condition to everything. That would suck.
  19. I would think the "Badger Express" from MKE to MSN would be pretty fun on football gamedays. Be cool if you could rent out an entire car for a party.
  20. I'm considering quitting my job to start a small business. Problem is, I have a pre-exsting medical condition. I'm on medication and haven't had any issues in almost two years but there's always a chance of a re-occurance. I was wondering if I could even get insurance? I would be happy to pay for it out of my own pocket and realize I'll probably have to pay a bit more than most due to my health background. This is really the only thing holding me back from pursuing this. Anyone have experience with this? And please, don't insert your political feelings on the matter - there's a big long discussion on the political board about health care.
  21. Also, has anyone heard of where the stops in Milwaukee might be? A downtown Madison to Miller Park stop would make me really happy. --------------------------------------- The stop in Milwaukee is downtown. You can bus it from there to MP - or take a quick cab ride. Also, the stop at the airport in madison is dumb - they should have one downtown.

  23. Man, that was a fun game to watch. UW is getting in a habit of these late game comebacks.....just fell a little short this time. Would have been nice if the refs had called that foul on Hughes' three ball......c'mon - the guy missed by four feet and there's no call? Oh well....that wasn't what lost it for them.
  24. Don't bother.....although at least comments on the Brewer blog tend to stay more or less on topic - unlike the Packer blog which is like Attica.
