  1. I thought it was terrific. Didn't like how the Stanley plotline ended - felt like they couldn't come up with anything better and gave up. But other than that there were some really memorable lines. "I think you have to have sex with a woman......and a man and then compare."
  2. In case anyone cares, we have a thread on the BFan political board for this show. You can discuss without limiting your vocabulary (if you know what I mean).
  3. I'd offer him arby. If he accepts you get a decent utility guy that could be traded at some point if the need arises. If he declines you get a draft pick.
  4. Well yeah anyone can be traded prior to their contract expiring.
  5. So essentially the Bucks are locked in to those two players for two years max. Matching the Sessions offer was locking them in for four years min, right? I'm guessing the roster flexibility factored into their decision.
  6. Are Delfino and Ukic signed beyond 2009 - 2010?
  7. Ennder, Is there any stat that explains McGehee's power spike? It seems to have come out of nowhere.
  8. Was that Conley trade rumor confirmed as real?
  9. Minimum at sports book is $5 I believe.
  10. I dunno. But he still deserves a shot somewhere. Plus he can play pretty much every position on the diamond (I think he played everything but pitcher and catcher). He deserves a shot at a utility role on someone's bench.
  11. I feel really bad for Adam Heether. Guy deserves a shot.
  12. I can see how internally the Giants would be a little ticked. I mean if some other team had done that to the Brewers during last year's pennant race I would have been slightly steamed. But by the same token, there's no reason to go public with your displeasure. Suck it up and move on.
  13. I doubt he approaches .850 OPS again but at the same time how do you explain a big power spike at age 26? I mean high batting average could be due to BABIP but how do you account for a higher HR rate? Steroids was the old answer to that question but it's not as cut and dried as that anymore.
  14. It's really amazing how much better (and different) a garden grown tomato tastes from a store bought tomato. I was lucky enough to have a father that was huge into gardening and I can't tell you how disappointed I was when I got to college and bought tomatoes at the grocery store for the first time.
  15. So does this knock a hole in the old "no free agents want to come to Milwaukee" argument?
  16. Wow. That domain probably sold for a pretty penny.
  17. This is way cool. You can do a search on a site and see what it looked like way back when. http://www.archive.org/web/web.php Here's Brewerfan.net back in 2002: http://web.archive.org/web/20020802233339/www.brewerfan.net/index.jsp ESPN back in 1998: http://web.archive.org/web/19981212013850/espn.sportszone.com/
  18. In the end that results in eating fewer calories which is how you burn fat Right, but most people will take "eat fewer calories" to cut out meals altogether. That's not healthy. Not to mention, most people find it difficult to actually count calories for everything they eat. I agree with the simple equation of energy expended minus energy consumed but frankly most people worry too much about "weight" and don't look at the other ancillary benefits (lower cholesterol, reduced stress, improved flexibility, increased energy, etc.). People should worry about reducing fat rather than reducing weight. Just to point out, the only way to actually get "cut" is to drop your body fat percentage. Muscle is muscle...there's no difference between a "buff" muscle and a "cut" muscle, other than the fact that the person who is more "cut up looking" probably has a lower body fat percentage, so there is less fat covering the muscle. I think the point True Cry was making is that if you want to be a bodybuilder and put on mass ("buff" in his words) this won't do it. But if you want to look like Brad Pitt in Fight Club, this program will achieve that. Brad Pitt was cut as heck in that movie but he didn't have a bulky build like John Cena.
  19. Eating less isn't really a good option - eating more good stuff and less bad stuff is a better option.
  20. "benchmarked against a fictional replacement player as an absolute fact when it clearly is not. Disillusioned elitism imo" What wears on me is when people don't understand how a statistic or metric is developed, don't take the time to understand it, yet dismiss it as "disillusioned elitism".
  21. I haven't used it but a friend did and he looks great. One program I used that looks kind of similar is Core Performance which was developed by Mark Verstegen who runs Athlete's Performance in Arizona. They train a ton of pro athletes and prep guys before the combine. I think the principles are generally the same (muscle confusion, core work, etc.) So if you don't want to spring for P90x you could get this book off of Amazon and try it out.
  22. I'd love to go back in time and watch the Cubs choke it away against the Marlins in 2003. I'd also love to go see any Negro League game from the 30's or 40's particularly one involving Satchel Paige and Josh Gibson. Others I'd like to see: any game from Ty Cobb just to see what those guys got away with. Braves in '57 I'd like to watch Brooks Robinson play defense I'd love to follow the Yankees the year Mantle and Maris were knocking home runs all over the place. I'd love to see Bob Gibson or Sandy Koufax in their primes.
  23. Actaully, Cameron was en fuego the month of August last year (1.200 OPS) and then faded in Sept. Regardless he's still very valuable. I don't think people realize how mediocre most centerfielders are.
  24. The Angels have pretty bad pitching this year but they lead the league in runs so they are in first place. We'll see how that works out for them in a short series but so far so good.
  25. I like McGehee but I have a feeling he was playing over his head in the first half. He never put up huge numbers in the minors. I'd be surprised if at age 26 (or 27 whatever he is) that he suddenly becomes Mr. Awesome. He's a decent player but I hope the braintrust isn't counting on him to get an .850 OPS next year or anything.
