  1. Those times are based on a hand held stop watch if I'm not mistaken. There'a a ton of variability there.
  2. I haven't seen that on a message board before. Well played.
  3. ".500 at June 1st means that all is good? By that time Cubs could easily be 15 games over .500. " What were the Brewer and Cub records last year on June 1? With Gallardo out, we are kidding ourselves if we think we can hopskotch the rest of the division and make the playoffs.
  4. "You are 100% incorrect. jhart05 is 100% correct. Out of all the silly criticisms I listed, yours was the silliest. " Most posters around here aren't quite that condescending. I have an opinion, someone else has an opinion - they don't have to be the same.
  5. Use the splits filter to see whatever info you want: http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/teams/batting?team=mil&season=2008&seasonType=2&split=0&type=reg
  6. He probably was getting a bunch of emails on it and decided to check it out for himself. Instead of responding to each email, he posted in a blog. I really don't see the big deal.
  7. A lot of people (Ennder for one) called for a regression in his stats this year. He left a TON of guys on base last year and his luck has run out in that regard.
  8. I think TH's sources are more reliable than a bloggers - unless that blogger is consistently right which no one really knows since his blog is mostly about politics.
  9. Small ball has a place - just not in the second inning with a guy in scoring position with a .300 hitter at bat in a one run game. Ned? You reading this?
  10. "He's not a team leader because he didn't run hard on Fielder's double -- if you think this, you weren't watching the game." I was at the game. When you are worried about getting doubled up, you go half way and stop you don't casually jog to second.
  11. I don't think we can call TH's blog post "irresponsible journalism" at all. It's a blog - he's posts topics for discussion. He stated very clearly that the source in question is sketchy but it makes for a fun topic that generates banter. It's not like they stopped the presses and put this news in the latest print edition.
  12. I wouldn't be surprised to see an episode in the next season or two about the ship The Orchid that wrecked on the island. My guess is that's where the whole mystery of the place started and that one guy that is an Other (he played the Cuban dude on Suddenly Susan) was captain of the ship. For those that didn't see it, he was there when Ben was a little kid.....hasn't aged a day.
  13. Agreed. Hart could very well be much faster than Brantley. Too bad MB doesn't play 2B.
  14. I think Russ was exaggerating to make a point. 4.25 is still pretty bad.
  15. I'd really like to see the team leader actually run on long fly balls from Prince rather than assume they are home runs.
  16. I don't understand the Twins comment. They've scored fewer runs than the Brewers.
  17. Gillespie with another dinger. He's quietly having a really solid year.
  18. I"d be interested to see how the age of the poster compares to answers in this thread.
  19. And here I thought Fallon's 15 minutes were just about up. Didn't know you could renew for another 15.
  20. http://stoneywageslave.files.wordpress.com/2007/04/guillotine.jpg
  21. I said "closer type". Doesn't mean the guy had to have been a closer in the first place. Just a guy that could be a closer.
  22. Think I'm sitting near Pesky's Pole on Friday. Not sure about Sat.
  23. I mentioned something along those lines in another thread (maybe yesterday's game thread). Guys like Errecart, Gillespie, and Salome are being overshadowed because of the kooky numbers LaGamel is putting up. Another reason might be that Salome hasn't had enough ABs to qualify for the league leaders yet.
  24. "Lets see what two players get drafted with the linebrink picks. it wasn't just trading those guys for part of a season of linebrink." True, but given the nature of the draft that's a risky proposition. I'd have preferred a closer type pitcher with another year on his deal to 3 months of Linebrink and some draft picks.
  25. Check out the team batting stats: http://web.minorleaguebaseball.com/milb/stats/stats.jsp?t=l_tba&lid=111&sid=l111 I think the Stars lead in every positive category except walks and stolen bases.
