  1. Willy is having an underrated year thus far.
  2. I hadn't read anything about Hall's velocity but I guess the brass thinks it will come around:
  3. Yeah he got squeezed on a few of those (pitches called balls below)
  4. I couldn't find data from 2017 - 2022. 2023 was just a hair over 30% (30.2%). So the points in orange are estimates based on the rate increase from 2016 - 2023. The big jump happened in the mid to late 90s and it leveled off from 2001 (26%) - 2017 (27.8%) with an increase of about 3% since 2017. The latest increase is probably due to the academies. https://sabr.org/bioproj/topic/baseball-demographics-1947-2016/
  5. You have to go back a lot further than that. Probably the mid 90's. This is 2000 (if anyone wants to feel old, Royce Clayton is 54):
  6. Are we still talking about Bentancourt? Because half the shortstops in MLB were from Latin America in 2011.
  7. He had the defensive range of a pumpkin.
  8. https://www.jsonline.com/story/sports/mlb/brewers/2024/04/16/ex-brewers-shortstop-yuniesky-betancourt-accused-of-insurance-fraud/73340903007/
  9. Monasterio was sent down when Wiemer was called up.
  10. You ask a lot of a guy leading off the game
  11. Hall is throwing his 4 seamer 3 mph slower than last year. Slider 4mph.
  12. He's topped 94 mph a few times this inning at least.
  13. this looks like one of them 13 - 11 games
  14. Chourio sure likes to attack that first pitch
  15. I don't think it's beyond the pale to wonder if there's something fishy going on. The amount of money just seems too absurd to believe a translator would be doing that by himself. By the same token. it's certainly not a foregone conclusion there is anything fishy going on and I think some people will believe that's the case no matter what evidence is presented.
  16. I forget where I saw this but Yount had 2999 hits going into the game where he hit #3000 (duh). The date was 9/9/92 which is 2999 backwards. Nice memory peg.
  17. I am skeptical Ohtani knew nothing. I am also skeptical the government would care enough to cover it up unless Shohei is a psy-op. MLB on the other hand? Absolutely.
  18. It would have been pretty cool to be here:
