  1. You know what's overrated? Me...yeah, that's right. Deal with that!
  2. That is a really good guess, LTR. Makes perfect sense. Kinda PO'd you mentioned it because now it won't be a surprise. I hate your face. (see drunk thread)
  3. Leyritzed. sndjiafuiednfviudsdAFSDfjoagjnioudfasngvjkdfa
  4. "All I kept thinking was "Number Johnny 5 is Alive!" or expecting the cat to come with tomorrows newspaper." You know that guy (Fisher Stevens) dated Michelle Pfeiffer at one point?
  5. I think Hardy is definitely one of the slower starters for sure and I bet Gwynn and Gross have him too. My personal ranking (not sure how accurate that 60 yard deal was last year during ST) Weeks Hart Braun Cameron Hall Hardy Fielder Kendall Prince may even have a step on Hardy - hard to say for sure.
  6. Thanks, bthurley. I forgot that was a ship they found. Interesting how it was Penny's dad who won the bidding for that ship's ledger. I don't know why, but I like when they have those "outside world" ties to plot lines on the island.
  7. Yeah, I'm almost positive the casket contained a 'him'. And where else does Black Rock occur? I've watched this season and the last two within the last couple of months and forget some of the details that don't happen every episode, but I know I've heard black rock before.
  8. I agree that's what SHOULD happen but if a team is struggling to win and a guy is in there that sells tickets, they'll keep him in there until he's eligible for AARP enrollment.
  9. MIke Schmidt did. Cal Ripken ended his consecutive game streak.
  10. Is marijuana addictive? Edit: I guess it is Is marijuana use addictive?Long-term marijuana use can lead to addiction for some people; that is, they use the drug compulsively even though it often interferes with family, school, work, and recreational activities. According to the 2001 National Household Survey on Drug Abuse, an estimated 5.6 million Americans age 12 or older reported problems with illicit drug use in the past year. Of these, 3.6 million met diagnostic criteria for dependence on an illicit drug. More than 2 million met diagnostic criteria for dependence on marijuana/hashish. In 1999, more than 220,000 people entering drug abuse treatment programs reported that marijuana was their primary drug of abuse. Along with craving, withdrawal symptoms can make it hard for long-term marijuana smokers to stop using the drug. People trying to quit report irritability, difficulty sleeping, and anxiety. They also display increased aggression on psychological tests, peaking approximately 1 week after they last used the drug.
  11. "well, I go to watch certain players and I made it a point last year to see one of my all time favorite players play. That guy was Biggio. " Exactly. Which is why a hall of famer on a severe decline needs to take himself out of the lineup - if he's still selling tickets there's little chance management will do it.
  12. I foresee Faraday pulling some shenanigans in order to keep his 'constant' from getting away from him.
  13. Brussels is close to Amsterdam. Done deal.
  14. How much of a difference would LH, RH, RH (Prince, Braun, Hart) make vs. RH, LH, RH? I know managers sometimes prefer the alternating approach to avoid some of the later innings mismatches with the opposing bullpen. Not sure that's enough to change someone's mind but maybe it would factor in a little bit.
  15. The fans still want to see them play, and the organizations have trouble letting go. Agreed. It's up to the player to figure out he's done. Mike Schmidt comes to mind as one who didn't want to embarrass himself.
  16. I was going to suggest Bacchus but couldn't think of the name.
  17. I dislike you because you look like Drew Carey.
  18. I think people dislike people that like Nickelback more than they dislike the band itself.
  19. Evrything wull cost at leest 11teen million dollers.
  20. Not to mention, I think a lot of owners simply put all their trust in their GMs - like any good businessman would - to do the right thing and most GMs did not graduate magna *** laude from Yale (although that trend is starting to change).
  21. "Dusty may have done some things that don't make a ton of sense to a baseball fan -- but he keeps getting hired for millions of dollars. I'll sign up for that gig -- he must be doing something right." Or there are a lot of owners/GMs that don't know what they're doing. Not to mention, having Barry Bonds and a healthy Kerry Wood and Mark Prior tend to make a manager look pretty bright.
  22. To paraphrase Bobby Knight: If you start listening to the fans, pretty soon you'll be sitting with them.
  23. I did a little digging on the web for some info on lineup optimization and came across a cool Lineup Analysis tool on Baseball Musings. You plug in a list of players with their corresponding OBP and SLG then the application generates the most productive and least productive lineups. For each of the most productive lineups it has Kendall 8th then the pitcher 9th. Also, has Weeks leading off every time but after that it's kind of all over the place (Although Braun hitting clean up shows up a lot). The most productive lineup it generated (scoring 5.228 runs per game) is: Weeks Fielder Cameron Braun Hart Hall Hardy Pitcher Kendall I used the Marcel projections for 2008 for the hitters and the Brewers team numbers for 2007 for the pitching slot. The Lineup Analysis can be found here: http://www.baseballmusings.com/cgi-bin/LineupAnalysis.py And if anyone knows how to insert a hyperlink like we used to be able to, please let me know. Here's an article I found that talks about LaRussa's experiment with batting the pitcher 8th. http://www.hardballtimes.com/main/article/is-larussa-right-to-bat-his-pitcher-in-the-eight-slot/
