  1. The other thing is that even if the young defense only marginally improves, if the young offense improves and scores 6 runs a game the fielding woes won't matter so much. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  2. Not surprisingly, the Brewers are among the bottom 5 teams in all the majors in three of four categories mentioned: http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/7168142
  3. What did Rene Lachemann do before coming to Milwaukee?
  4. Your sarcasm is kind of a generalization. A lot of Miss America winners are pretty bright. http://www.missamerica.org/our-miss-americas/2000/2003.asp This one was accepted to Harvard Law. Now, if you had said "Beauty Pageant contestant a moron" it might have worked better. http://static.yuku.com//domainskins/bypass/img/smileys/smile.gif
  5. I'll cut her some slack for being really nervous, but even still.......good lord.
  6. http://cbs.sportsline.com/columns/story/10319067 Article on the strength of the 2005 draft. Attanasio says the choice was between Maybin and Braun.
  7. Installing my DVR this morning. I can record stuff now!
  8. I was at Alpine for Pearl Jam a few years ago and we found this 'secret' little road way near the theater itself that took us right out of there in like 10 minutes. I was home on the east side having a beer within an hour of the last song.
  9. Intervention is about the only show that consistently gets me choked up at the end. Unless it's the episode with the compulsive gambler. I sort of didn't want him to get help. He sucked.
  10. The crazy thing is a Texas reliever actually got the save in this game for pitching three innings.
  11. I remember when the Brewers beat Toronto 22 to something and got 30 hits. I need to find that box score. That was crazy. Man I love baseball reference: http://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/TOR/TOR199208280.shtml Interesting to see the Crew only had four extra base hits. 27 singles. Yowzer.
  12. From the JJ Hardy in the 8th spot thread: "Jenkins still has not gotten his second half streak that many have claim is his birthright," Hauser, Where do you get this stuff from? And why does being the contrarian matter to you so much? Every other thread you have a "everyone thinks/thought but they are/were wrong" comment. As in "everyone thought Bill Hall would be a perenial all star" or " Everyone loves homegrown players too much" or "Many people overrate Corey Hart" or "Many people claim a streak is Jenkins birthright". I'd say in most instances everyone doesn't think the way you think they do but even so, why do you continually have to mention it?
  13. I like the offense right now. Weeks, Hall, and Hardy are all hitting the ball hard - Weeks especially has looked like a completely different player since coming back up from Nashville. Braun has cooled a bit but that was inevitable and given his swing I doubt he falls to the doldrums experienced by Hardy and Weeks this year.
  14. http://money.cnn.com/2004/04/05/news/fortune500/nc17/nc17_films.gif
  15. LaPorta now with 10 extra base hits out of 13 total at WV. He might be pretty good. And Gillespie with four hits in his first 5 ABs between the two games. He's pretty much en fuego - average climbs over .270 for now.
  16. Hall 2005 .836 OPSJeter 2005 .839 OPS Hall 2006 .898 OPS Jeter 2006 .900 OPS I don't think people were all that off base thinking Hall would possibly put up better numbers than Jeter considering he's 6 years younger and was about to enter his peak years.. Yeah, he's having a disappointing year. No one disputes that.
  17. This is the guy I always think of. He was in Weird Science, One Flew Over the Cukoo's Nest, The Hills Have Eyes (original) and about 200 other horror movies (and I think he was the principal in Motley Crue's Smokin' in the Boys Room video). Suffers from hypohidrotic ectodermal dysplasia, where extrusions of the body -- hair, teeth, and fingernails -- are unable to form. http://www.nndb.com/people/968/000026890/13835.gif Personally, I think Mench kind of looks like Sloth from The Goonies: http://www.ilovetheworld.co.uk/images/goonies.jpg
  18. I think if someone traded both Wright and Reyes for Braun they should have their head examined. One or the other straight up is a very fair deal and given Braun's D, the Mets might ask for something else too. EDIT: Unless, of course, all you guys are just kidding around in which case I'd say Braun for Sabathia, Victor Martinez, and Grady Sizemore. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  19. I think this was written by a Cub fan.....still pretty funny. http://www.bugsandcranks.com/the-clubhouse/meet-the-brewers/ And apparently, they read this site....
  20. "Many people compared him to Jeter, Young, and other top SS's all last year. " That's because his stats last year were comparable to those guys. I don't recall anyone saying he'd be a consistent all star. In fact, I think most thought he'd drop off a little. If anyone got revved up about him this season it was because Ned Yost called him a "potential MVP candidate" in spring training. Pretty sure Ned doesn't post here but I can't blame someone for jumping on the bandwagon when the manager says something like that. And why would someone be anti anyone that hits 35 HR?
  21. I think Elias Sports Bureau is the only way to get that kind of info.....or send a letter to Tim Kurjian at ESPN.
  22. Yeah, he wrote The Howling too.
  23. If you like Chris Cooper you should check out a couple of his early films - both directed by John Sayles. Lone Star - about a Texas sheriff investigating misdeeds by his predecessors while living in the shadow of his hero father (kinda slow at times but a nice payoff in the end). And the other is Matewan about a coal mine strike in Matewan, West Virginia. Both are great rentals. Edit: I see from IMDB that Sayles is one of the writers for Jurassic Park IV? That seems really odd.
