  1. I took up guitar a few years ago and am finally at the point where I can sing and play at the same time. I'd like to record a song and save it on my PC. The built in mic on my laptop blows. Is there software/hardware out there for home use that anyone can recommend? I play a straight acoustic guitar that I can't plug into an amp - not ideal as there will be air noise but oh well.
  2. So Braun was rookie of the month, did they announce player of the month?
  3. From Today's JSOnline: www.jsonline.com/story/index.aspx?id=627725 Pittsburgh - Milwaukee Brewers manager Ned Yost removed Rickie Weeks from the lineup Monday night to give the slumping second baseman time to regroup. Since recovering from an ailing right wrist and coming off the disabled list, Weeks was batting .194 (7 for 36), with no hits in his last 13 at-bats. Weeks collected six doubles in his first five games after being activated but had one hit since in six games. Overall, Weeks was batting .234 with five homers and 19 RBI in 205 at-bats. He hasn't hit a home run since April 25. Yost said the wrist that Weeks had surgically repaired last August was not a factor in his slump. He also insisted it had nothing to do with being moved to the eighth spot in the batting order, ahead of the pitcher. "That's way overrated," Yost said of the claim by some that a No. 8 hitter gets few pitches to hit with the pitcher on deck. "He's getting plenty of good pitches." Hitting coach Jim Skaalen said Weeks' main problem was not staying back on pitches. "He's not letting the ball come to him," Skaalen said. "He's a little quick going forward. We're trying to get him to forget the pull side of the field completely. (After the wrist injury) he's still concerned about getting beat on the fastball." Yost admitted that a thumb injury in 2005 and the wrist injury last season have been factors in keeping Weeks from meeting expectations after being the second player taken in the 2003 draft. While first baseman Prince Fielder and shortstop J.J. Hardy earned all-star berths and rightfielder Corey Hart and third baseman Ryan Braun are breaking out on offense, Weeks is still trying to make an impact at the big-league level. "He's going to be a complete player, no doubt," Yost said. "You take it a step at a time. I didn't put any more expectations on Rickie than J.J. or Prince."
  4. I didn't accuse anyone of anything. Just admitting that when I saw Giles' name the first thought in my head was steriods. My brain apologizes for the Rorshach reaction.
  5. Suggestion to Woogie and group (if it's dumb that's OK - I won't be hurt) - instead of an Inman tracker, can we have an NL ROY tracker? Like Braun vs. Pence?
  6. Maybe I missed it, but did McGwire's head grow? I'm pretty sure he didn't exhibit erratic behavior. EDIT: Anyway, I am with you Mass. As soon as I saw Giles' name I thought 'steriods'. I have absolutely no proof at all, but for some reason that popped in my head.
  7. It's certain he will possibly develop?
  8. And I don't think anyone is arguing that he's better than average right now.....just that it may be premature to say he'll always be average.
  9. - Phillips is a year older than Weeks and is case in point for giving up on a player too soon (although he can't get on base like Weeks so I guess I don't get too excited about him) - Barfield is having a terrible year and has been healthy.
  10. respected news source is an oxymoron. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif I'm just kidding around (note emoticon).
  11. Hey, Graffy had a 1.000+ OPS in June!
  12. This is really weird. www.thesun.co.uk/article/0,,2003560001-2007300340,00.html
  13. I can see your point, JB, but Weeks wasn't exactly lighting it up when he was hitting leadoff and Hardy was on fire. Not sure I'm comfortable putting a guy that is stuggling so badly that high in the order wasting ABs. But I'll admit it may be a chicken or egg thing. I said this in the chat room the other day, I think Weeks is just not seeing the ball well at all. He picks it up late in the pitcher's delivery and is WAY out in front of everything. Even a few of his doubles he hit when he came back from the DL were just wrist flicks to slug them to the wall - he was still off balance. To me, he may be trying to pull everything and needs to concentrate on going the other way to keep his weight back. He played well in the second half last year until his injury and maybe he just needs to play more in order to get comfortable at the plate. Time will tell. One thing for sure, he's not going anywhere and to completely write him off at age 24 is really premature.
  14. Not to take this way off topic, but that wasn't really the reason they built it where they did.
  15. NL Pitching Stats for June A lot of really nice performances in the National League in June form a pitching perspective. I think Sheets has a good shot based on his 5 - 0 record (wins tend to be a sexier stat than others). I think it will come down to Penny or Sheets - even though Zambrano had comparable stats, I think the win/loss record will override any of the other numbers. (Updated thread title --1992casey)
  16. Fairly certain that limes in Mexican beer is an American tradition. www.allaboutbeer.com/features/242mexicanbeer.html
  17. Actually I did see a quote by Jack Z saying LaPorta had the best power in the draft. So maybe not best hitter but in that same article Z went on to say that they continually look for best 'something' when they take a first rounder (be it power, arm, whatever). The article is buried someplace in the draft threads. In any case, even when they say something like that about Braun or LaPorta it's kind of obvious that they drafted for need in both cases. And given that both were college players that could move quickly through the system I can't blame them. I think they needed a centerfielder in '05 when they drafted Braun, but Maybin's arrival date was probably '08 or so and they took the guy that could also fill a need and get there sooner.
  18. Don't forget that they don't sell Miller inside the park so any chance Miller can get to steal some thunder from Bud they will do it.
  19. You're right. He was the darling at the start of the season and then got hurt. He's right in the mix too. Based on stats alone, I'd give it to Braun right now. He and Hart have done their best to carry the Brewers this month.
  20. Pence and Braun had nearly identical numbers before today's game. Tulowitzki has been hitting well of late too but I think he's a distant third as far as position players go.
  21. Wait, you mean.....what? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  22. Why do I feel like it's going to take about 11 runs to win today?
  23. Anyone that wants to say the Brewers farm system improved only because they were drafting high every year need look no further than Pittsburgh to see that a high draft pick is no guarantee of success.
  24. So you want to give them cash so they can turn around and buy food from the same store you don't want them to buy food from in the first place? I know people that work at food banks and they tend to throw out junk food if there is an over abundance of it.
  25. I really enjoy Wrigley when I have really good seats on a nice summer day (I mean, really, even when the roof is open at MP you still feel like you are indoors) but the obstructed views are awful. The bathrooms (when you can find them) are ridiculously awful, the concourses are awful, the food lines are long, and, well, you have to watch the Cubs. But Wrigleyville, to me, is pretty neat. My friend and I were commenting that it's kind of like Regent St after a Badger game - everyone is in a kind of festive mood, everyone is hammered, and there are plenty of cute girls walking around in various states of undress. Granted, they are Cubs' fans so there's not a chance in hades you'd ever want to date them but at least they provide some eye candy. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
