  1. Agreed. I think what Ennder has tried to show is that Bush is not really pitching that badly based on a few peripheral metrics and others are saying he is pitching badly at inopportune times (i.e. runners on base) and this is due to a non random issue (i.e. mechanics, mental, etc.) I would like to see Russ' evaluation of Bush out of the stretch to see what those numbers tell us.
  2. I don't think anyone is really aruging that too much, the issue is Gallardo's innings and how best to use them since they are limited. Also, I really wouldn't mind seeing Vargas traded near the deadline, move Villy to the starting role and putting Gallardo in the pen. Not trying to speak for him, but I think Ennder just used those examples because it seemed no one was grasping other stats showing 'unluckiness' like LOB% which he points out many times early on in this thread.
  3. I don't really like Seth Green and the show itself is hit and miss but when it hits it's really good. I love how they get celebrities on there to do three word scenes.
  4. Anyone that wants to complain about letting Sheets finish this game, please speak now or forever hold your hindsight.
  5. Hey, someone was looking for Steve Kline in another thread....there he is!
  6. If someone thinks the all star game is about 1st half performance and not career achievement then that person might not think it's legit.
  7. and there goes the shutout. Oh well.....let's get through this inning with no more damage.
  8. I am really liking this team with Hart leading off.
  9. I thought so too but Lincecum was pitching out of the windup with the bases juiced tonight. I wonder if there's a variable other than pitcher preference in that case. I'm sure there is. Might be a good email for Bill, although he probably doesn't know. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  10. MLB Gameday has Counsell batting #2 in place of JJ.
  11. I was at the game and didn't notice any leaks at all. Yo has such an easy delivery it looks like he's not even trying. I think he hit 93 on the gun but his curve and change were in the high 70's. I was with the group that thought it was a mistake to bring him out for the 7th inning. It was pretty muggy in there and he had thrown 93 pitches already. He got up 0-2 on Feliz, but Feliz hit what was actually a really nice pitch off his ankles for a dinger. Had Villy not given up a jack, I'm not sure anyone would care at all.
  12. I really liked the lineup they had yesterday. I'd like to see that one for a while: Hart Hardy Braun Fielder Hall Estrada Menchkins Weeks SP Maybe yo ucould move guys around after Hall but that'd be picking nits.
  13. OK, in Bush's last game against MN, bottom of the fifth innings, MN had guys on 2nd and 3rd with none out and Bush was out of the stretch. If anyone needs proof checkout MLB.tv at the 1 hour 29 minute mark. Also, in the June10th game vs. Texas in the bottom of the 1st innings, the Rangers had the bases loaded with no outs and Bush was in the stretch.
  14. Dunno. But guys have stolen home on a windup before. I think convention has the pitcher out of a stretch in those situations. Although, I can't say for a fact that Bush does because I haven't really looked. I'll check his last game on MLB.tv to see for sure.
  15. To me, non stretch is bases loaded or empty. Although, you'd probably have to see for yourself if Bush went to the stretch in a bases juiced situation. I don't think that is universal.
  16. But couldn't it also mean that he's missing over the plate? So instead of inside corner on the black, he throws a meatball that gets crushed. I don't think the fact that his walk total is less with guys on tells the whole story about his control in that situation.
  17. Just out of curiosity, how many innings do people think Parra will be allowed to pitch this year? He only threw 86 last year and he's at 80 already. In fact the last time (and only time) he threw over 100 was back in 2003 (138.2). My guess is that he'll start in AAA for a while and eventually be moved to the pen - either in Nashville or Milwaukee. Would they try and stretch him out as a starter all season? EDIT: old thread title was a little misleading (yeah, like Parra is going to throw 2007 innings)
  18. It's just my opinion, but I think Affleck has been awful in pretty much everything he's been in with the very notable exception of Dazed and Confused - most likely because he was playing himself in that role.
  19. Not sure how long you've been following the minors Crew, but back when Parra, Sarfate, Eveland, etc were at Beloit I thought the Brewers would have the best rotation in baseball come 2007. Didn't exactly turn out that way. A lot can happen between A ball and the majors so I wouldn't get my hopes up too much (doesn't hurt to hope though....I still do)
  20. The fact that Ben Affleck was in it meant Woo didn't have much to work with.
  21. I don't think I recall a set of simultaneous promotions that excited me as much as those from last night. All three pitchers deserve it. Can't wait to see how they respond.
  22. Well said. Weeks and Braun were both top five picks that cut their teeth in the Pioneer League before heading off to A ball.....and Weeks signed a pro deal so there was even more incentive to rush him. Send LaPorta where he belongs and where he can have immediate success - West Virginia.
  23. Please enlighten us. I was wondering about Huntsville. Nashville I understand.
  24. Not sure if this is ambiguous, but the ending of The Shining always bugs me. Yeah, he freezes to death in the maze, but what's with that pic from like 1929 with him in it at the very end? That bartender guy says something like "You've always been here." at one point so I assume it's a tie in to that line, but is it a reference to reincarnation and he was led back to this place again and again?
  25. Corey Hart has an .858 OPS. Yee haw, Huck!
