  1. JJ, my suggestion is that you go to the link given above - realgm.com - and explore. A number of your questions will be answered, and there is a current multi-page thread discussing the game by people that were there. If it was being shown that his game need major work developmentally, the fact that he is 22 in all probability would have merit. However it is becoming apparent that the tools are in place, and he is in need of repetition and game refinement. Thus, to me, whether he is 19 or 22 is sompletely irrelevent.
  2. I went to the recent game in Green Bay, and came back with my own impressions: First, Yi has the most pure talent of anyone on the Bucks roster. The guy is an athletic freak. Yi made a move that is viewable on realgm.com that was amazing - the whole arena just gasped when he made it. The guy has amazing leaping ability, and made a block that showed off what will eventually be excellent defensive skills. That said, he is not there yet, and he will make many mistakes...the guy is by no means a finished product....but would i rather have him or Oden at this stage, especially given Oden's knee issues? It is Yi by a long, long shot. I have no doubt that given the right coaching, this guy will be an all-star within the years of his Bucks contract. Also, he seems like such a nice guy. Yi just gives off an aura of kindness and innocence, grinning as he is slapping hi-5's with kids as he leaves the court. Now Charlie Villanueva on the other hand......Yuck
  3. Basically that 7+/3 runs or less stat is a modified quality start index, thought it caters more to a team like the Brewers that have bullpens concerns, with that extra inning - getting into the 8th inning. I have gone through 25 of the top MLB pitchers, and only Peavy and Hudson (with 21) and Indians hurlers Sabathia and Carmona (with 20 each) had more outing of 7 or more innings with 3 or less runs given up in the entirety of the mlb. Suppan had a mere 5 outings, and guys like Verlander (13), Wang (14), and Zambrano (11) also fell far short of Garland's 19. Just saying.
  4. This rumor was posted on the jsonline forum via a Boston Globe article I cannot find. The expensive Garland is almost certainly going to be traded, and initially, I was not that excited about him. However, I looked deeper into his season stats and was taken aback. Garland, whose ERA was elevated due to a couple of very poor starts - (roughly 18 Earned runs in 5 innings), was a guy that pitched very well deep into games last year. On 19 occasions Garland pitched at least 7 innings while giving up 3 Earned runs or less. Compared to Garland's 19, no Brewer starter had more than 5 outings going 7 innings while giving up 3 or less. With bullpen issues being what they are, I do not think this kind of innings eating can be lightly dismissed, because it was high quality - and in the AL no less. Some other pitchers stats going 7 or more, giving up 3 or less: Harang 16 Beckett 14 Peavy 21
  5. Totally agree with joe pepsi, who has been one of the best posters on this site for the last five years. And as brewcrewin2004 stated, Mark A has been nothing but class since he has purchased the club.
  6. My wife and i are going to the Scranton Office convention October 25th-28th. Yes, i am a geek.
  7. Yeah, bringing up Sarfate's father (or step-father) in this discussion is weird to say the least.
  8. Who is bringing the Yost effigy? Or are you going old school and just having a Yost pinata filled with churros?
  9. It is 8:10, and the room is not working, with the same issues for me. Oh, and Rick Majarus is making my ears bleed.
  10. Though Trachsel has had a nice ERA in his August starts, it seems to be an illusion, as with an 18/7 walk/k ratio during that period, and an over 1.50 WHIP, the law of averages will get him at some point.
  11. the in-game chat is acting rather funkadalicious as well Edit: I just tried again to get in, and I was amazed to see only Spanish, with a room full of users....wacky
  12. I wanted this placed here too, though i first put this in a Braun defense thread. Ryan Braun currently has a slugging percentage of .684. If he ends the season at at level, he will join only 23 other players that have slugged at that level in the history of major league baseball. The other players that have slugged .684 or greater in a season - Babe Ruth (10 times), Barry Bonds (5 times), Lou Gehrig (4 times), Jimmie Foxx (4 times), Rogers Hornsby (3 times), Mark McGwire (3 times), Ted Wiiiams, (2 times), Larry Walker (2 times), Albert Belle (2 times), Mickey Mantle (2 times), Todd Helton (2 times), Jeff Bagwell, Sammy Sosa, Frank Thomas, Hack Wilson, Al Simmons, Stan Musial, Manny Ramirez, Hugh Duffy, Tip O'Neill, Chuck Klein, Luis Gonzalez, and Sam Thompson

This talk of his defense is taking away from one of the most amazing season in major league history, considering this is Ryan Braun's rookie year. Plus, anyone with baseball acumen that saw Braun's play in the 8th inning last night knows Braun has the abiltiy to play third - he just needs the repitition.
  14. probably by using their common sense.
  15. 5 more innings of shutout ball with 7 k's for McClung. This may be a great change of scenery for Seth, as he has always had dominating stuff for the Devil Rays.
  16. Lambeau Leap is fully healthy and is waiting on active posters to get really going for the 2007 Packer season. Lets get some nice active conversation going, as there is plenty to talk about from a Packer or fantasy football viewpoint.
  17. Apparently the mind control experiment was successful. Clever, and well-timed.
  18. Thanks mods, you did a great job with locking the threads tonight that needed to be locked. I would like to say more, but I do not want to perpetuate what y'all are trying to prevent with the bickering here. I will say that there are people on this thread that have embarrassed themselves tonight. Thanks mods for doing a generally awesome job.
  19. My silver lining is that I found out that complete baseball catharsis can be clensing, and that sometimes a season's turning point is a tangible thing.
  20. After reading Melvin's comments in the JS I am convinced he will make a move today. I am just steeling myself for the prospects we will be giving up - hoping that we could instead parlay Gwynn and Mench for something useful. My out of the blue thought is that today will be the last day we see Carlos Villanueva in a Brewer uniform.
  21. kgbaseball, just wanted to give you a quick welcome to the site. By judging the content of the first couple of your posts, it appears you will be a valued and knowledgable contributor.
  22. the final trade seems to be with gomes, but i still see differing reports... The best and worst part of this - the Bill Simmons article sports.espn.go.com/espn/p...ons/070730
  23. The initial post forgets part of the trade - it is Ryan Gomes and 2 1st rounders as well as what is shown according to ESPN ticker
  24. Teix hasn't been as much of a stud away from that park Actually, last year his OPS was 200 points higher on the road and this year he has a .906 road OPS. Apparenly Harrison is included in the deal as is a 19 year old that throws 98 mph that is still in rookie ball.
