  1. over/under runs prediction for today - I will go with 20.
  2. This link is to the stats for all the Arizona players as well.....Craig Langille with a nice start. www.minorleaguebaseball.c...lb&cid=406
  3. Moeller has batted 16x44 in the month of June.....
  4. I thought this was an interesting snippet from a recent Matt Lockhart column....looks like the Brewers are trying to set them up as a tandem. Just last week, Milwaukee's assistant director of player development, Scott Martens, said the organization is content with leaving Iribarren partnered with 18-year-old shortstop Alcides Escobar. Which means despite his gaudy hitting statistics, Iribarren might not leave the Power this year because Escobar still is considered a youngster who needs time to develop at the low Class A level.
  5. First of all Hoffy, I like that perspective...interesting Helena thoughts....nice to see Popeye (little guy w/huge arms) Salome with 4 hits - 2 doubles amongst them; I will forget about the passed ball and throwing error. Braun with a 2 hit, 1 stolen base evening Bell continues to rake Nice outing for 5th rounder Roberts..... 6-0 and counting
  6. Just a quick note that Jemile went 3x3 with a walk and had a dinger amongst his 3 hits in this all-star game featuring some high-profiles prospects. If Weeks goes to Helena, Helena had some nice middle infield prospects....almost too many ALBUQUERQUE, NM (June 13, 2005) ? . The East was able to tie it up at four in the top of the third after Milwaukee Brewer draft pick Jemile Weeks homered to right-center. However, the West took the lead back for good in the bottom half of the fourth as Davis drove in another run that sparked a four-run rally. When it was all said and done, the West?s offense proved to be more dominant earning its way to an impressive 11-9 victory. Ike Davis earned the game?s PlayStation MVP Honors, finishing 3-3 with a homerun, 2 RBI, 3 Runs Scored, and the save. ?This year?s contest proved to be the most impressive yet,? noted Dana Lehner, director of the All-American Baseball Game presented by PlayStation. The All-American Baseball Game presented by PlayStation featured three 1st Round Draft Picks of the 2005 MLB Amateur Draft including CJ Henry (17th, New York Yankees), Henry Sanchez (39th, Minnesota Twins), and Michael Bowden (47th, Boston Red Sox) led this year?s class.
  7. Pratt and Costello both giving Brewer brass a reason to move up Sarfate, Taubenheim and Villanueva at their expense.
  8. Pitcher Glenn Woolard is back with the team, having served a five-game suspension imposed by manager Don Money. Woolard briefly left the team after his last performance. Not sure if I had just missed this and that this was known about, but I find it to be interesting.... edit: 1st Brewer afiliate to give up a run is a rotten egg!!!!!!
  9. 54 total baserunners in 65.1 innings now for Villanueva with a 1.65 ERA. and yes of those 12 earned runs and (2 unearned), there have been 7 home runs given up by Carlos this season
  10. my goodness gracious, can Rickie Weeks fly....wow
  11. A pitch by Church hit Helena shortstop Ryan Crew in the helmet in the ninth inning and Crew went down like a shot. He recovered enough to walk to the dugout. Just to answer the earlier "concern" on Crew's footspeed.
  12. Good luck to Matt, his wife Julie and son Maddux....Matt is one of the nicest people you will ever meet
  13. Nice game from Willcutt, he will be interesting to follow..... check out the articles on Ryan Crew from the draft thread - he has a nice little resume, and could be interesting to watch... Salome's 2 walks were both of the intentional variety, as they were trying to get to Gamel, who had 3 k's to go along with his 2 errors. Also, wanted to note that Jim Callis loves out shortstop Bell, and put him into his list in the 10th round of his dream draft....we got him in the 15th....
  14. I just wanted to add that the time element is a big factor, as the fact that his current schedule prevents the Power 50 being done with the frequency that it once was. That simply means that the corrections are seen later than what some people would like....but that is just the nature of what being busy is all about - less time to sift through the data. We just got spoiled with the pace of the updates in years past. Just to show the difference, here is the listing of the Power 50 submissions in the last few years... 06/07/2005 04/24/2005 03/06/2005 12/18/2004 10/16/2004 09/11/2004 08/28/2004 08/14/2004 07/31/2004 07/17/2004 07/10/2004 06/19/2004 06/05/2004 05/22/2004 05/08/2004 04/25/2004 04/08/2004 02/27/2004 12/04/2003 10/16/2003 09/04/2003 08/28/2003 08/21/2003 08/14/2003 08/07/2003 07/31/2003 07/24/2003 07/17/2003 07/10/2003 06/26/2003 06/19/2003 06/12/2003 06/05/2003 05/29/2003 05/22/2003 05/15/2003 05/03/2003 04/24/2003 04/17/2003 04/10/2003 04/03/2003
  15. One of the keys to this series will be keeping the top of the Cubs lineup off the bases....Dusty, being the idiot that he is, has continued with the Neifi Perez leadoff experience. Neifi has gone 6 for his last 51 with 1 walk..... the Brewers have had good luck keeping Patterson down as well, and the big thing will be ensuring that Lee and Ramirez do not have many runners to knock in when they get their opportunities. this is a huge series for the Brewers, and I could see the Keg being a very tense place this week, with all the Cub marauders filthifying the place.
  16. From the game notes....5 and dive is a cool phrase ``I'm definitely going to buy the bullpen a steak dinner one of these days for picking me up there,'' Capuano said. ``I hate to do the five and dive.''
  17. for a good laugh in regard to 3rd base coaches, catch a Bill Simmons article describing the exploits of former Brewer turned Boston 3rd base coach Dale Sveum. Needless to say, Sveum has made some blunders.....
  18. the seeming baserunning gaffe by Weeks was all on Rich Donnelley on Jenks double..... Weeks can freaking fly by the way.....
  19. horrible job by Cirillo.....a single A player does that and he is benched for a week....
  20. great play by Towers on the Cirillo attempted sac. bunt ruined that inning..... Brady Clark cost us a run bu having a brain lock by not tagging from 2nd on a 375 foot out....brutal, as he then gets tagged out while trying to score..... Brewers are not playing well again today.....if they win, it will not likely be due to their own execution.
  21. nice 3 spot dropped, even if the swings were not all that great....basically awful outfield defense and the ball carrying in the sky(not today)Dome.
  22. Though we all love you and the Power 50, and that, I have to agree with what X ellence said..... Braun has the skills to play third after watching him play...the footwork, pivot to 2nd on the dp, and arm strength were all evidenced in the series v. Nebraska. Considering that Gordon is apparently being converted to the outfield also adds an interesting element to this conversation. I still hold out hope for Jeremy Brown to be a productive pro however.....
  23. From Gammons most recent column: The Royals' 2004-05 first-round draft picks, Billy Butler and Alex Gordon, could be big-league corner outfielders in a hurry, and first baseman Justin Huber will be in Kansas City and hitting next year.
  24. The Texas Collegiate League has named Weatherford College baseball player Jake Arrieta the D-Bat Pitcher of the Week for June 7-12. Arrieta, who is playing for the McKinney Marshals in the wooden bat summer league, pitched 11 scoreless innings in two starts. He issued just six hits with three walks and 15 strikeouts in the two victories. He turned in five scoreless frames with seven Ks on June 8 against Highland Park and fanned eight in six innings on June 12 against Coppell. Arrieta is an incoming sophomore for the Coyotes and a Plano East graduate. He was selected by the Milwaukee Brewers in the 26th round of last week?s Major League Baseball First Year Player Draft. ?We?re excited about his direction,? said Jeff Lightfoot, WC head coach. ?We?re expecting big things from him next year, and I?m looking for him to lead us to a big year in 2006.? In the 2005 WC season, Arrieta ranked sixth in strikeouts in the Northern Texas Junior College Athletic Conference with 63. He went 5-2 allowing just 61 hits over 63 2/3 innings. Arrieta is the second player with a connection to WC to win a TCL award so far this summer. Former Coyote Chris Walsh of the Weatherford Wranglers won the D-Bat Player of the Week Award for the first week of the season. Walsh played in WC?s inaugural season in 2003, and now plays for Abilene Christian University.
  25. Making this the first game since May 4 that Phelps has pitched where the Brewers have actually won the game. I am happy for Sheets in getting that win.....he deserved that sucker.
