  1. Except Notre Dame or other schools who used to be good at sports but need an excuse now.
  2. Actually, I read somewhere that the Bucks' opponents record the rest of the way are below .500. Yay top-heavy Eastern Conference!
  3. Sure they could find a new location, but whats the point? I don't understand the fascination with moving teams from one crappy market to another. Just contract a few (or better yet, create a second division with pro/rel) and be done with it. Why would anybody think that the Kansas City Bucks would be a success? When a franchise considers Sacramento to be a more viable market than your own, you should lose all sports privileges for at least 100 years. Seriously, Sacramento...damn.
  4. I think this means that Penny have a very average season and will be a Brewer next year.
  5. And the subsequent "why do we need a new one, we can't even fill the one we have!" arguments. We should make the richest men in Milwaukee (Dan Gadzuric and Jeff Suppan) pay for it.
  6. If the RealGM boards were a real GM, they would be Sal Bando.
  7. Trade our best player (who is on a very reasonable contract) after a rough three-game stretch? Yikes. I think its unrealistic to expect a player to be great every night. I don't know what's been wrong with his shooting the past couple of games, but overall Bogut has done far more good than bad. The Bucks haven't looked good lately, but they have had chances to win despite Jennings, Bogut and Ilyasova cooling off at the same time. If (when) those guys return to normal, they'll be fine.
  8. Can we please get a sign behind the plate that says "ZAUN'S ZALLEY"?
  9. Ivory Coast has a lot of big-name stars, but much like England, that hasn't always translated to international success. Ghana did beat them in the ACN last year too...not saying that they're necessarily better, but its a lot closer than it appears on paper. G is certainly a group of death from Korea DPR's perspective, but I don't think they would have much of a chance to come out of any group. D just looks tougher top-to-bottom, as all four teams should be expecting to advance (with Germany and Serbia being legit contenders for winning the whole competition). edit: wow, imagine if Yugoslavia still existed. That team would be ridiculous.
  10. You know, there's probably some guy out there who keeps track of that.
  11. I'm not a UW fan, but as an outsider, I consider their program to be very, very strong. Duke is too, but not that much better. In any given season, I'd expect Wisconsin to beat Duke at home most of the time. IMO, storming the court was a celebration of UW defeating ESPN more than anything. edit: typo
  12. I think its cool to do after a really important game (like, winning a championship), but I don't know about this. It almost seems self-deprecating to rush the court after an early season non-conference win. Its not like Duke is some ridiculous unbeatable force that goes 30-0 every year. With Wisconsin's home record, I'd think this should be expected (just like beating, say, MSU or Illinois a few years ago).
  13. Why would we need a 33 year old Dirk Nowitzki when we already have Turk Nowitzki?
  14. If you believe PER (which is questionable, but handy), Redd was one of the best defensive SGs in the NBA last season. Just sayin. Here is his opponent's PER compared to last year's All-Star SGs: Redd 12.8 Allen 12.3 Johnson 13.7 Bryant 14.1 Wade 15.4 Roy 17.1 That's not to say he can definitely duplicate that performance now, especially with the injury, of course. And before last season, he was very average. But...it has happened before! And if he doesn't perform, Skiles will bench him.
  15. Could be. He's coming back from a very serious injury, and its possible he might not ever be the same. I was surprised he was able start the season on the active roster. Now, he just looks gassed the second he comes into the game. It seems like the Bucks have now decided against trying to rush him back, and they're right to shut him down for now. Best we can do is give him all the time in the world and hope he's back to normal. Otherwise, I'd consider Delfino at SG once Mbah a Moute returns. That, or giving Warrick more minutes at SF. Both have been a pleasant surprise defensively, and we know they can score. Another question sure to come up soon: should we trade Ridnour? He's been huge for us, but his hot shooting is bound to return to Earth at some point. The combination of expiring contract + good player has to have a ton of value. We'll need to take a longer contract back, but it should be able to get us a pretty good player.
  16. What was with all of the desperation contested threes with 10 seconds left on the shot clock?
  17. Redd was bad even by Jiri Welsch standards. But 1-6 FTs suggests rust to me. He looked drained the whole time he was out there. Oh, and I know its just one game, but have a look at Carlos Delfino vs Richard Jefferson's box scores. He still needs to show more consistent shot selection, but I think he's coming around. I'll say it again: what can Jefferson do that Delfino can't*? * buy more expensive stuff hurrr
  18. The Bucks are definitely better prepared for this than they were last season. A frontcourt of Gadz/Elson and Charlie Villanueva is frighteningly bad. Time for Kurt Thomas to get into some games, and having a real PF like Ilyasova should help soften the blow as well.
  19. This, and the fact that Redd actually has played pretty well defensively under Skiles. I don't think he's a liability anymore, but it will take him awhile to shake off that reputation.
  20. Depends on how the team is doing at the deadline. I'm a bigger fan of Redd as a player than most (and the idea that he doesn't play defense is outdated IMO), but I still think it makes the most sense to move him if possible. However, if the Bucks are in a position for a top-4 seed in the playoffs, keeping him would make some sense. I don't think Redd is a natural ballhog, I think that in the past, he took the most shots because that's what the team needed. Yep, I thought the same thing.
  21. Alexander was a gamble, but don't forget that the Jennings pick was a pretty big gamble too. He could have easily been Sebastian Telfair. For every Jennings, you're going to have a bunch of Alexanders...nobody is going to get it right every time. Before you criticize the Alexander pick too much, remember that its generally either that or always picking "average at best" type players. It looks *a lot* better now than it did when he was initially drafted. Its obvious that he's been working very hard.
  22. joining the "Cameron in RF" army.
  23. As much as we want to think Hardy would have had more trade value, we have absolutely no way of knowing for sure. Its entirely possible (dare I say, likely?) that this was the best deal on the table. I don't think Melvin can be blamed for what other teams offered in return, and unless he's actually a spy for the Cubs, I doubt he'd intentionally accept an inferior offer. Not to get too offtopic, but you don't think that turned out great for the Broncos? Neckbeard is having a fine season. Plus, ultra draft picks.
  24. Wait, Gomez is pretty awesome defensively, right? I have terrible memories of the Brewers getting hosed countless times on hard-hit balls to CF vs the Twins in recent years. I hope that was Gomez I'm thinking of. Of course, Cameron can do all that too and can hit, but hey.
  25. We have to be getting more than Gomez back...right?
