  1. Yeah, definitely. To me, these stories basically just say "look, this pro athlete does things that normal people do!" and we're supposed be shocked by it.
  2. There's a report that the Bucks had Shavlik Randolph and Alexander Johnson in for a workout. Scott is usually right on with rumors related to D-League players, so I definitely believe it...but whether or not they sign anybody is another story. Johnson has been tearing it up lately, so I'd really like to see what he can do.
  3. Ah, thanks. The 2008 numbers I saw were from here (wonder if maybe ESPN didn't count split squads?), but it seems pretty clear to me that Sheets doesn't worry much about results in spring training.
  4. He had an ERA of 9.56 in 2008. Don't have the numbers in front of me for previous years, but yeah, I think you're mostly right. I'd guess that his performance thus far is a combination of rust, "working on things", and not being as good as before.
  5. Jeffrey Hammonds too. Its not like Doug Melvin hasn't ever been willing to dump big contracts. Possibly, though it might almost be better to trade him + cash (most likely, $11m or so) for something negligible, like Brevard County roster filler. That way, we'd save a teensy bit of money, and not have the very same issue with another overpaid vet blocking better, younger players.
  6. Its ok, the ticks are now diamonds.
  7. Hmm, didn't know that the division winners were guaranteed a 1-4 seed. Could have sworn somebody got 5th while winning their division a few years ago, but I'm definitely imagining things. If the Bucks can somehow catch the Celtics AND the Hawks, they can get the 3rd seed, but 4th seems pretty much impossible, oddly enough.
  8. So uh, in a few minutes, we'll be only 5 games out of the 4th seed. With two games remaining against both BOS and ATL, 3rd isn't out of the question.
  9. Was he hurt at the start of the season too? I don't know how you can say this unless you think he was hurt in every game he pitched poorly. And despite the low ERA in those games, he was still giving up plenty of hits and BBs.
  10. Huh, I can't imagine a TMZ sports site to be much different than Deadspin anyway. At least we'll have another place to turn for OMG MATT LEINART WITH A BEER BONG!! SHOCKING!!! WE GOT THE DIRT!
  11. I don't understand why UW intentionally fouled down by 3 with 40 seconds left. Plenty of time to get a stop and go for the tie...I'd think the odds of making a three have to be better than that of playing the foul game.
  12. Freddie Owens is an assistant coach for Montana!
  13. I think that for a lot of things, its hard to say this with 100% certainty. I've done quite a few things in my life that at some point, I thought I would never do.
  14. :raises hand: Others for me: never smoked a cigarette never inhaled never saw any Harry Potter movie For a long time, I refused to see Titanic just because I was bitter about it making more money than Star Wars. But Leo is just so dreamy.
  15. I think his jump shooting is mostly fine for a rookie - not saying its good, but about where I would expect. He just needs to get A LOT better at the rim. Bulking up will help that, and experience certainly can't hurt. He'll be fine.
  16. I agree. When you pay a professional, you're not just paying for their equipment - you're paying for their experience (such as gathering people for group shots) and creativity. Not to mention, an entry-level DSLR alone is going to be pretty bad for indoor photography. The other thing is that friends and family are going to want to enjoy the wedding, not be busy taking pictures. A pro won't have any sentimental attachments, and won't miss any shots because they're busy doing what people do at weddings. That isn't to say it can't work, but is it worth the risk? On the other hand, there are a lot of awful wedding photographers out there, so it certainly doesn't surprise to hear people say that their friend took better photos than the hired pro (in these cases though, that just isn't saying much). Anyone can put together a portfolio of a few good photos, so when you're looking to hire somebody, I would ask to see an entire wedding's worth of samples.
  17. YES. Prince Fielder rules Its true, and Barry Zito knows that a man's gotta do what a man's gotta do.
  18. Do you like blue astroturf or not? That should probably be the only question to ask yourself.
  19. I know this is an old post, but its been bugging me. What exactly is the point of having ice dancing AND figure skating? As far as I can tell, the above description is exactly right - figure skating for less athletic people. To me, this would be like putting men's slow-pitch-with-keg-on-second-base softball in the Olympics. Or better yet, bumper curling.
  20. Hope he doesn't go back to Mountain Dew after this.
  21. It wouldn't surprise me if Tony Kornheiser doesn't even know what it means. I am SHOCKED that he would say something obnoxious. Though, I did think the Chris Berman comment was pretty funny.
  22. Bring back the Olympic Triplecast!
  23. just so I can post this again: http://lp.imageg.net/prod?set=key%5Bname%5D,value%5BbRYANT%5D&set=key%5Bnumber%5D,value%5B24%5D&set=key%5Bdisplaysize%5D,value%5B220%5D&load=url%5Bhttp://chains.imageg.net/graphics/dynamic/chains/p5322947_customback.chain%5D Other notables include (potentially) Dirk Nowitzki, Yao, Tim Duncan and Carmello Anthony, for sure Tony Parker and Caron Butler, and a bunch of other guys who used to be good. Lots of quality restricted free agents too.
  24. My response to that one has always been "neither is Canada!" Who says it has to make sense? When they did "gopher rejects" for the first time, a UW fan sitting behind me said "you know, you could say the same thing about Wisconsin". I lolled.
  25. There's that St Cloud defense I know!
