The interview on Golic & Wingo made it sound like he was not all too happy. I know there will be a crowd that just says he has no business in coaching decisions but it still could create a rift between Rodgers and management. Comments like that reinforces my thought that he may just play out his contract and move elsewhere. Just like Favre.

IF the Brewers were to sign Darvish and still want Archer, I would have to think Santana and Davies would headline the package.

The max I would give for Yelich? Brinson, either Diaz or Hiura, either Ortiz or Woodruff. If the marlins don't like that, walk away.

I think the Browns could also draft Saquon Barkley and be ok though I do agree with you that trading for multiple picks would be the best strategy for them. That's exactly what they should do, draft Barkley first and trade down from four into the area of one of the two Notre Dame OL are being slotted or a DE/OLB in that area. Honestly, watched the Browns twice and come away a little impressed with Kizer, yeah he does suffer from judgement errors, but a lot of them are correctable with experience and coaching. Give him some help and i think he will flourish. If I'm the Browns I would let it out that it's 50/50 they draft Rosen, just to mess with him and let the rest of NFL know what his character is. If the Browns go the QB route, the Packers should inquire if Kizer is available. How about Hundley for Kizer? lol

That's what I read as well, excellent fastball/slider. Changeup is inconsistant. When/if he can control that changeup, then you have a TOR, until then, don't put him in a position to fail. You never get to work on a third pitch coming out of the pen in the situation he does. You’re limiting your best arm and never allowing him progress. Understand that POV completely, don't get me wrong I really want Hader in the rotation. but I also don't want him getting shelled every 5 days for lacking that 3rd pitch. I only hope they are working OT with him to get more consistant with that changeup. He's what 23? He has time to work on it. Actually I'm confident he will find that 3rd pitch and you just may have an Ace in a Brewer uniform!

Now that the speculation is over and let us assume the 40 man roster remains the same, who do you possibly see being drafted? Tristan Archer is a given, some pitching poor team will give him a shot. Kyle Wren, have to admit love The Wren, perfect 4th outfielder. Play all three positions, speed, would be great coming off the bench as a pinch hitter. IMO, those two are gone. Possible: Nate Orf, let me channel my inner Ned Yost, he's a scrappy battler! Would be worthy of being the 25th on many teams roster. Let me put two more names out there. Josh Uhen and Tyler Spurlin. Given the state of pitching today i would not be surprised if someone takes either of these two and buries them deep in the bullpen.

If that's what is being offered for both Stanton and Gordon. I would offer Santana, Ray and Ortiz just for Stanton and (gasp!) take on his contract! Let the hate flow!! lol

I'm with you on Shaw due to age. I understand what you're saying about Knebel, and relievers in general, but the four years of control takes him to age 29 which is right in the middle of his prime. As is the case with any extension, it would need to be a good deal. If it is, then I'd be okay with extending him. Reliever numbers are volatile because of the small number of innings they pitch each season. One or two bad outings can seriously inflate numbers. Also, many relievers just aren't that good and that's why they ended up in the 'pen instead of the rotation. Knebel has great stuff, and he has a history of being able to control it, as is evidenced by his career MiLB WHIP of 0.93. He may not always be as dominant as he was this year, but he is unlikely to "go Turnbow" on us. Part of the "draft and develop" strategy should be extending good young players. That allows you to "control" players for 7-8 years instead of six, which is very valuable. But you still need to keep developing. Let's say we extend Arcia this offseason, and in a few years we have another good SS who is MLB ready. We then have the option of trading away Arcia, who by that time will be an MLB veteran who is just entering his prime and still has multiple years left of a team-friendly contract. From that trade, we would be able to stock our farm with multiple high-level prospects. All development can't come solely from the draft. Agreed, Arcia and Davies fit that criteria and I would not have an issue extending those two as they have shown improvement since they arrived and I'm a sucker for a upward trending graphs! But Shaw, Knebal and Santana I have my doubts. Maybe it's the ghost of Bill Hall bothering me! It seems like every year we see a player perform outstanding, last year it was Villar, and everyone starts promoting an extension. Yes, Shaw, Knebal and Santana performed very well last year and I sincerely hope that continues, but to run up and offer serious money based on one years performance is reckless. Let's see if Shaw and Knebal can duplicate last year, if they can great, look at extending then. May cost more, but at least we would have track record of more than one year. As far as Santana, that is this teams biggest trade chip.

trwi7, I agree with you. No reason to extend anyone, draft and develop! As far as trading Knebel and Shaw at their highest value. I understand the logic, but I do not see anyone capable of taking their place in the system for next year.
