  1. The wife and I have to make it from Hartland to Richland Center. I'd like to leave Wednesday night, but we both couldn't get off Thursday. It's looking like we might not make it to Christmas at the parents' if we have to wait that long.
  2. The newest wrinkle to this trade has Toronto spinning off Taylor to the A's for Brett Wallace. Thoughts behind that? I don't know much about either one, other than Wallace has been traded for a Holliday and a Halladay.
  3. I'm not in Madison, but I'm not pleased with the street department in Hartland or the highway department for Waukesha county. Major highways seem to be fine, but anything else is also covered in packed snow. Coming back from the store last night, I was driving slow coming around a curve on Capitol Drive, my car slid sideways, I tried to correct, it caught, slid to the other side of the street, and hit into a snowbank. A lot of the roads around here are terrible. I'm more than used to snow covered roads, and driving in less than desirable conditions. I'm from the Richland/Crawfod/Vernon/Grant county area, and back roads there seem to be better taken care of then more major roads here. It's a joke.
  4. ESPN's winter meeting stream is saying that any Hart for Maine swap would have to wait until the Mets finalize things with other pitchers. Could that be Randy Wolf? What if the Mets had to sign Wolf before trading us Maine? Personally, I wouldn't be too heartbroken because I'm not sure how I feel about the amount of cash and the length of the contract Wolf might get. You have to pay for pitching, but $9-10 million per for three years scares me.
  5. I have to admit, I'm a little excited to see snowstorms again and this thread is one of my favorites to read. However, my attitude might change as I now have to drive 15 miles to work every day. It's gonna be an adventure.
  6. I went for the first time and I thought there were a lot of neat items. I bought my dad a Charlie Greene locker nameplate, bought a yellow Hardy T-shirt for my wife, and a Thurman batting practice jersey for my older brother. For the life of me, I couldn't remember who Thurman was, but I took it over my second choice (Alec Zumwalt). If I had more money to spend, I would have bought a lot more.
  7. Complete joke that Prince wasn't ahead of Howard Howard did have eight stolen bases.
  8. I know. No offense intended. I knew you were more than credible. I was scared of the thought of Prince being actively shopped. I thought if you were mentioning it, foamboy, it was a foregone conclusion. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  9. I saw that foamboy started this thread, and all I could think about was Ulice Payne. I was scared.
  10. I never used to wear my hats backwards, but now I do at times. It started when I bought my first fitted Brewers hat. I made the now laughable mistake of buying it when my hair was longer, and I then got a haircut a couple days later. I looked just plain goofy with a hat that was too big, but I wasn't about to stop wearing it. So, I started wearing it backwards because it didn't make me look like a 5-year-old wearing daddy's ball cap. After that, it kind of developed into a habit that I'm just now starting to break. My new favorite hat is the current batting practice hat, which I love. It stretches if I have too much hair.
  11. According to the San Francisco Chronicle, Ron Wotus wasn't too pleased with the Brewers' celebration. "Did you see that celebration?" bench coach Ron Wotus asked. "You would like to think professionals would have a lot more respect for the game and their opponents. That was choreographed." Did Wotus ever work with La Russa? ;-)
  12. I only got 65 for the Cy Young winners, but after I saw the rest of the answers I had a couple of "d'oh" moments.
  13. Getting solicited to buy sports apparel while working out.
  14. The Sobelman Burger at Sobelman's is my favorite outside of In N Out. Just freaking awesome. 19th and St. Paul - a short 3-4 min drive from Miller Park. Sobelman's was the first place I went to eat when I moved here a couple of months ago. I had the Sobelman Burger and it was just awesome. I'm still trying to work up the nerve to try the double Sobelman.
  15. I was hitting baseballs in Merton an hour ago and was watching some pretty crazy clouds passing to the north. It looks like Hartland's just on the edge of it now. I really hope that something strong passes by while it's still light. I'd really like to get some nice photos.
  16. Is this a way for Sam Zell to sell off some of the pieces that he received as part of the purchase of the Tribune Co.? If I recall correctly, the purchase of the Cubs came with the partial ownership of Wrigley Field, part of a local cable network, and assorted other assets? If that's the case, would bankruptcy protection give Zell the ability to sell of "toxic" assets, such as Wrigley, separately from the team? (similar to GM selling off individual brands like Hummer?) If so, wouldn't that make the purchase of the team more appealing?
  17. I like to stay active, so I'll do things like running, biking, hiking, lifting weights, and , just recently, rollerblading. I've also enjoyed hitting baseballs in my free time. Turns out there's this little ball field in Hartland and I was able to do that for about an hour yesterday after work. I'm also a big fan of taking photos and I love history.
  18. I always choke up when I see the My Wish segments on SportsCenter. I've also found that I'm really starting to turn into a babbling fool around babies.
  19. You could always do what I did: buy a $20 electric razor and have free haircuts until it breaks.
  20. It might just be me being impatient, but I'm not enjoying the weather living near Milwaukee. It hasn't been incredibly warm in the last month, which I miss. Also, the family seems to be getting better storms in SW Wisconsin. Last summer was really enjoyable in that regard. I like storms and it seemed like we had a nice thunderstorm every three days or so. I'm probably just not giving it enough time.
  21. I don't know that I'm shocked. I never expected that Ramirez 'roided, but at this point, I'm not surprised when anyone tests positive.
  22. You could do what I'm doing and try to teach yourself to play the guitar. Otherwise, I like photography, reading, lifting weights, running, biking, and golf.
  23. Well, this is how it seemed to work out. We've been searching for a while now, taking a day last week and one this week looking for apartments. I've never been too picky throughout the whole process and would have been happy just about anywhere. The wife-to-be was more focused on outlying areas. Also, I had less than two weeks to find someplace close enough than the three hours away I am right now. We settled on a two-bedroom in Hartland. It's a bit farther than I would have liked, but we are also able to go month-to-month in case we find something we like better once we have a little more time and a little more resources. I'd like to move again after that time, but we'll see how it goes. Now I just have to worry more about the commute.
  24. The job itself is in Wauwatosa. We are focusing more on the suburbs of Milwaukee and trying to avoid downtown. The price range might vary depending on whether you're talking with me or my fiance. She wants to stay under $650, I'm up for being a little more flexible.
