  1. Health is the big question moving forward. And it's not just how many games he misses, but how many games he plays at less than 100%. It would appear that he is finally getting healthy and is starting to hit as a result.
  2. when was the last time the brewers had a player named phillip that went by phillip? Ouch. My punctuation error caught by the guy who doesn't capitalize anything.
  3. So Phillips jokingly tweeted what he needed to do to upgrade his grade from a 70 to an 80 after his 104 MPH throw. Someone took note and upgraded him to the highest grade possible. http://m.brewers.mlb.com/news/article/254942870/brett-phillips-arm-upgraded-by-mlbpipeline/
  4. I just got an e-mail saying that Bud Selig bought a block of tickets and it giving them away to Boy Scouts and their families for free, limit 8. So it's looking like the weekend will be a "sellout".
  5. No problems getting Sunday tickets. When on right at 10 and got 4 tickets for row 8, section 119. What a great deal for $15. There were no Diamond Box tickets.
  6. I had to look up Caldwell, since he is second in innings pitched for the Brewers. 1604 innings and only 540 Ks. He only broke 100 K's once in his 8 years with the Brewers, and that was when he threw 300 innings. All those 70's workhorses didn't go a lot of innings by striking guys out. Higuera's 87 season is the only one that is both top 10 for innings pitched and K's.
  7. Yeah, that's the one that surprised me on the list.
  8. No not that one. Nelson is now 10th on the single season strikeout list with 192. It's looking like he'll become the 6th Brewer to have 200 Ks in a season. With 5 or 6 games left at his current pace would put him at 225-235, good for 3rd place all time. 1. Ben Sheets • 2004 264 2. Teddy Higuera • 1987 240 3. Doug Davis • 2005 208 4. Yovani Gallardo • 2011 207 4. Teddy Higuera • 1986 207 6. Yovani Gallardo • 2009 204 6. Yovani Gallardo • 2012 204 8. Zack Greinke • 2011 201 9. Yovani Gallardo • 2010 200 10. Teddy Higuera • 1988 192 10. Jimmy Nelson • 2017 192
  9. Will he take his ball and go home again?
  10. And he has more K's than all the starters except Nelson this year.
  11. Yeah, that's bugged me for a while. He's a great announcer for a bad team, where you don't care what's going on. Not so much when you actually want to know what is going on. I've never understood why they still do the alternating announcers thing. It would be better with a play by play guy and Uecker providing the color commentary.
  12. I wonder if they'll try to move up Anderson a day, so he could start next Tuesday. Otherwise, they have to find a starter.
  13. Will Gatewood ever make his AA debut?
  14. Also interesting about Stokes is that he is the only player on the list who isn't on the MLB.com top 30 list.
  15. Colorado Springs keeps rolling, despite roster churn. They already have their winningest season with the Brewers and there's still a month to play.
  16. I would imagine it will take more than one rehab start. He's been out for 5-6 weeks. One game, see how he feels after and another to see how his body feels to a regular schedule. Woodruff gets 2 starts, then they don't need a 5th starter until the 22nd. I imagine it will be closer to that date when we see Anderson. Also, with 4 days off in the second half of the month, I wonder if we'll see a 7 man bullpen.
  17. He was healthy enough to work at Southwest Airlines for a day. https://www.bizjournals.com/milwaukee/news/2017/08/03/brewers-davies-and-vogt-surprise-southwest.html Perez has to catch now, right?
  18. Looks like Wang was optioned back to AAA to make room for Garza.
  19. So we swapped Peralta for Jeffress. http://www.jsonline.com/story/sports/mlb/brewers/2017/07/31/brewers-re-acquire-ex-closer-jeremy-jeffress/524637001/
  20. Assuming Garza has a minimum stay on the DL, they need a 5th starter on August 5th and 10th, then not again until the 22nd, with all the days off. Hopefully, Anderson will be ready by the 22nd.
  21. Looks like he's fitting right in with the rest of the bullpen.
  22. Can Perez pitch? Better than some of the pitchers on the team. So after today, Perez just needs to catch to have played all 9 positions in his career. He has to get a shot in an inning of a blowout, right? Also if he plays 1B and C, he'll have played every position this year. I'm pretty sure he'd be the first Brewer to do it in a career or season.
  23. Cordell would have had more value if he could actually play 3B and not at a Ryan Braun level.
  24. It will be a nice change of pace to have a reliever who doesn't walk everyone.
  25. Cordell has been on the DL for almost a month. Can they trade someone on the DL, or does that only apply to the MLB DL? Or is he considered a PTBNL?
