  1. Garza is getting his 4th start today, just like the others. Peralta has been in the WBC. But why has Nelson only had 2 outings? Did I miss something (minor league start, injury)?
  2. Houser was hurt while pitching in the minors. Barrios was hurt in spring training while on the active roster.
  3. The difference is that the 40 man isn't full of a bunch of dead weight that can easily be cut like last year. I don't recall an injured minor leaguer ever being placed on the 60 day DL. I think Joba is really the only one who has a shot at being added, but is he better than the guy you would cut and risk losing?
  4. I can't shake the feeling that they're going to do something crazy like go with a 6 man rotation. That means a 13 man pitching staff, no Aquilar, and Perez or Gennett backing up 1B.

  6. So do they put him at A+ or AA?
  7. I imagine Colorado Springs will impact the placement of pitchers, more so than position players. I see them being more careful about which pitching prospects get placed in AAA, but I don't think it will impact the position players too much.
  8. People seem to forget his 800 OPS as a 21 year old in the pitcher friendly Southern League 2 years ago.

  10. Looks like it might be Garza again, but he was in too good of shape? http://m.brewers.mlb.com/news/article/216465662/brewers-matt-garza-poised-for-bounceback-2017/
  11. I thought this was funny. Kris thinks they're shooting a BP video when the "sound guy" starts throwing curve balls past him.
  12. I read that once May rolls around and Braun hits 10 years, he can veto a trade to any team.
  13. Anderson lost his arby case and will make $2.45 million.
  14. Saw an article that the Brewers are suing ATI for breach of contract. I wondered what this meant for the ATI Club and see that the Brewers website already lists it is as the "Right-Field Patio" Not a big deal, but found it interesting. Figure this doesn't bode well for an ATI club to make it into the new Buck's arena. http://www.bizjournals.com/milwaukee/news/2017/02/10/milwaukee-brewers-sue-ati-physical-therapy-owner.html
  15. Counsell is talking about the possibility of a creative solution to deal with 6 starters. The article seems to hint at a 6 man rotation. Not sure how this would work, but none of the six are a dominant starter. In fact, none of the 6 have thrown 200 in the past 5 years. http://m.brewers.mlb.com/news/article/215698864/early-25-man-roster-prediction-for-the-brewers/
  16. That was a given wasn't it? Perez proved he can play anywhere in the OF last year. It comes down to a 13th pitcher or an extra infielder. I think before the trade, there was a chance they kept a 5th OF over Rivera. Then Gennett and Perez would see most action in the IF.
  17. I think it means that Nieuwenhuis is the only backup OF, which means Perez and Gennett better get their OF gloves ready for spring training. And I don't think they were sold on Rivera, so he goes back to AAA.
  18. Being a lefty actually hurts him this year, since you already have a lefty at 1B and 3B and a switch hitter at 2B. But he could potentially get some time in the OF if Nieuwenhuis is the only lefty out there.
  19. You do when your AAA affiliate is Colorado Springs.
  20. I think his numbers point to him being a reliever, and Hader and Suter are the only lefties on the 40 man.
  21. Diaz was a tough situation. If they added him to the 40 man, it's likely he would have used all 3 options before reaching the majors. They gambled that no one would take a low A pitcher and lost.
  22. My big question is about his defense at 1B. I see that he won the gold glove in 2015, for whatever that is worth.
  23. You figure they will be looking to add some infield depth in the off season. Right now, Perez and Rivera are the only backup infielders. And not much immediate help in the minors.
  24. Question I have is, if the Brewers don't win a championship until well into the late 21st century and even into the 22nd, will there be stories, etc. about how THEY'VE gone 100+ years without a title? I suppose it would all depend on how many (if any) "heart-breaking" losses they have over that span, eh? I won't be a story until it's more unique. 8 of the 14 expansion teams haven't won a championship. And 6 of those were 60's/70's expansion teams.
  25. Now only 3 teams have a longer championship drought than the Brewers: Cleveland, Texas and Houston.
