  1. Absolutely hate that, but it could always be worse: you could be dealing with the group whose musical tastes you can hear from a hole or more away, because they don't care enough about anyone else on the course to operate their Bluetooth speaker with a modicum of restraint.
  2. I keep thinking about the Yelich / State Farm commercial with the kid and the dad, driving to a Little League game. The commercial ends with the kid getting out of the car, and the dad - still sitting in the car - wishing him luck. Why isn't the dad getting out of the car? Is he not going to watch the game? Shouldn't he at least be reaching for the car door?
  3. Hard not to be optimistic in the middle of a run like this one. Go Brewers!!
  4. They have that; it's called rosin. Pitchers have found new substances, partly because of technology, and partly because of lack of enforcement gave them relative freedom to do so.
  5. For what it's worth, Taylor is starting today in CF, hitting 6th.
  6. For all we know, Aaron - who happens to be in Hawaii getting photographed with the fiancée - could be making it up to players who opt out of OTAs.
  7. With Feyereisen as part of the deal, I can only assume the Rays scout assigned to the Brewers took the week off. Trevor Richards (https://www.espn.com/mlb/player/_/id/39912) also coming to Milwaukee, per ESPN report. All things considered...we traded Arcia why, exactly?
  8. The UW dropped baseball when Alvarez was a football coach (if not before), so a change in the AD position doesn't mean anything. I think it is likelier that the school would drop other mens programs, rather than adding new women's sports, for budget purposes. Could the school ditch men's soccer, rowing, swimming & diving, etc., without most of us batting an eye? Yes. My suspicion is that the budget for baseball - particularly traveling - is more prohibitive than the number of scholarships themselves.
  9. His ability to connect on the deep ball (one of his best skills) was severely lacking in 2019, at least as I remember it. Is it possible the receivers he was throwing to (particularly MV-S) dropped a few more than they would have in other years? Possibly, but my recollection is the missed throws weren't really catchable balls. (Is there a "Next Gen Stat" which can track that sort of thing?) It is really the critical difference between last year and the ones which came before, and why I do think there was a real case for Aaron's skills declining when the Packers drafted Love. The real question is whether this off-season will give him the same chip on his shoulder that he thrives on.
  10. https://www.yahoo.com/sports/sinclair-bally-sports-rsns-look-140029958.html Sinclair is working on a direct-to-customer streaming service next year, which would be why they don't particularly care about being removed from streaming cable providers.
  11. Zimmerman has announced his (re-)retirement.
  12. So long as the player and team sources are both staying quiet, there's little to report on until (virtual) mini-camp occurs, which Rodgers will likely skip. Beyond that, training camp doesn't start until around August, so there can't really be a holdout / retirement before that.
  13. https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2021/05/06/do-packers-prefer-an-aaron-rodgers-retirement-to-a-trade/ I thought about posting something along these lines, suggesting the Packers front office should take a hard line approach; PFT says it better than I would have.
  14. Semi-unsolicited advice - before you do anything, find out whether your community / county has shoreline zoning.
  15. It was released right before the NFL Draft, and largely overshadowed the largest event of the NFL offseason. Aaron Rodgers has any number of means to go to the press and tell "his side" of the story (if not circumvent the press altogether, and take to Social Media). He didn't (hasn't) said anything, other than the PR non-denial reported to Mike Tirico. If this didn't come from Rodgers' camp, he has all the power in the world to squash the rumor....and he hasn't. IMO, this is coming from his camp. I'm just curious as to how he thinks the prima donna card plays with the decision-makers at Jeopardy (which is a job he very clearly wants).
  16. Can I claim to have called it? NFL Network gave Amari a Randall Cobb comp. Hope he can live up to it.
  17. Like the Myers pick (though admittedly curious as to the differences between him, Humphrey, & Meinerz...who hasn't been picked yet). Looking down the road to the next pick, ESB's brother is projected as a 3rd round pick at WR. Otherwise, if Amari Rodgers gets picked, does Aaron get to put his full first name on the back of his jersey? (That's a 2-for-1 deal!)
  18. The one bright side in this: presumably Aaron has seen Jordan Love in practice. If Love stinks (apologies, J. Geils Band), #12 would be a lot less worried about his long-term security in Green Bay.
  19. Gradually warming to the pick. Most of the sites I looked at put a 2nd round grade on Stokes (CBS had him listed as their #63 prospect...behind the other CB from Georgia, Tyson Campbell), which left me with the instant impression they could have traded back and still got their guy. That said, I know the Packers put a premium on athleticism, Stokes ran well at his pro day, and I did see his name come up as a late first-rounder (probably because of the 40-time). Boundary corner was a long-term need (you can never have too many good CBs), and he doesn't appear to have any significant injury history (Newsome worried me on that front the more I read about him). I like the idea of moving up in the 2nd round...until I look at the value chart. Those extra 5th-7th rounders aren't that much ammunition; I'd rather make a pair of picks on Day 2 than just the one.
  20. It's like you read the text I sent one of my friends before I even hit 'send.'
  21. It's like you read the text I sent one of my friends before I even hit 'send.'
  22. The Bears & trading away future 1st round picks: name a more iconic duo. Sorry Mr. Fields.
  23. Until I see a trade announced, I'm believing all of this is drama, and possibly Aaron lobbying for the team to go a certain way with tonight's pick. Packers would have to agree to some sort of contract restructure just to trade him, if I understand the cap picture correctly.
