  1. It's hard to hail a guy when your face is all melted.
  2. As someone who likes Community entirely too much, the episodes weren't intended to air on consecutive weeks. The die roll / alternate universe episode was supposed to be the third episode of the season, but took longer to film than anticipated, which meant it got bumped back an episode. (During the opening of the episode, Troy and Abed's apartment is # 303; before the door is opened, one of the guests says they thought it was supposed to be 304. This is how insanely meta Community can get.)
  3. I don't think there's much chance that K-Rod accepts arbitration. He wants to get paid like a closer, and the only way to do that is to close games. Even if he could get more money in arbitration this year than he can on the open market (which is by no means a given), he's not looking for a 1-year deal.
  4. Casey is one year removed from leading the team in RBI (with Braun and Fielder hitting in front of him), and back-to-back .800+ OPS seasons. He bats from the opposite side as our in-house Fielder replacement (Gamel), and isn't exactly going to break the bank in arbitration (not sure if he hit 3 years service time, but would probably make super 2 if he didn't) coming off that season. If he can be used in a trade to bring in a useable piece for next year, I could see him traded. Otherwise, he'll get a chance to redeem himself as the backup 1b/3b next year.
  5. NLDS Game 5 was the most exciting baseball game I've ever been to in my life. Now it's up to the GM and the scouting department to start rebuilding. No regrets from going all-in. This has been a great season to be a Brewers fan.
  6. In all fairness: Marcum - 1 IP, 4 ER Narveson - 1 2/3 IP, 5 ER ...so pretty much anything short of asking both Yo and Wolf start on short rest wasn't going to work. (And we're a little over a week from Wolf giving up 5 ER in an inning.)
  7. Swapping avatars has worked for both the old and new hitters! :D
  8. Time to get Rickie going full-steam (...and error-free).

  10. The flipside of that thinking is that - if you lose game 5 - you still need to win 2 elimination games. Since Yo can only pitch in one of those two games, you'd expect him to pitch better on normal rest (ie., Game 7). If you can't win game 6 without him, you wouldn't win game 7 without him. Better to get the full outing from him than a shorter outing due to irregular rest.
  11. v. Garcia Hart Hairston Braun Prince Weeks Betancourt Gomez Lucroy Pitcher v. Carpenter Morgan Kotsay Braun Prince Hairston Weeks Betancourt Lucroy Pitcher v. Jackson Hart / Morgan (cf) Morgan / Kotsay (rf) Braun Fielder Hairston Weeks Betancourt Lucroy Pitcher Game 5 - Greinke Game 6 - Marcum (on a short hook, Narveson on hold) Game 7 - Gallardo - With how hot JH Jr. has been, I think Prince gets harder to pitch around with Hairston immediately behind him. Rickie's on the upswing, and I wouldn't hesitate to move him back into the 5 hole in the Series (knock on wood), but for the next 3 games I think you win more with Weeks in the 6 spot. - It's a lot easier to say that you'll hold Yo for game 7 when you're tied up 2-2, or up 3-2. If you need to win two elimination games in Milwaukee....my heart says pitch Gallardo in game 6 to try and force a game 7, but my head says you have a better chance of winning 2 games with Yo on full rest. - Marcum gets the hook immediately if he gets down 2 runs, or if he loads the bases. I use Loe to finish the inning, then bring Narveson in to start a clean frame. (This should give him enough time to stretch out and be as 'ready' as he's going to be for extended work.) Assuming he pitches well enough to win, he takes Marcum's spot in the rotation. - Kotsay plays in RF against Carpenter....but I don't start him in back-to-back games, unless Hart is still under the weather. EDIT: realized I didn't factor in a LH starter tonight. Lineups adjusted accordingly.
  12. Completely agree with this. Moreover, the pressure just shifted to the Cardinals in a big way. This series is now a best of 3, with 2 of those 3 in Miller Park....where the Brewers don't lose often. Having to win back-to-back games as a road team is practically a death sentence. I want to slam the door tonight; force TLR to pitch Carpenter on Sunday on short rest just to stay alive (leaving Yo with a much better matchup in game 7 on normal rest). Greinke gives us the best chance of winning tonight.

  14. Ahead in the count, that was definitely not an intentional HBP.
  15. 3 of the 4 hits are from this year. http://espn.go.com/mlb/boxscore?gameId=310811124 http://espn.go.com/mlb/boxscore?gameId=310907124
  16. Was going to post this part myself. This season, Kotsay is 3-4 with a double and a walk against Carpenter. Considering the number of bad plays Morgan has made in the field in this post-season (failing to catch a ball 2 steps away from him in NLDS game 5, misplaying balls near the wall in Arizona and in NLCS game 2, etc.), Nyjer's range advantage hasn't translated into good defense. Despite the storied road woes of this year's Brewers club, they always managed to take at least one game on each visit to St. Louis. Getting one tonight would be extra sweet.
  17. ...at least we know tonight's first pitch won't be a strike.
  18. Morgan's 4-for-23 against Carpenter for his career, with a sub-.500 OPS. Gomez has never faced Carpenter. I'll go on-record and say that I support the decision to go with GoGo in Game 3. Not only is his defense better, but RR avoids giving the Cardinals any emotional boost out of getting T-Plush out. It also allows them to bat Hairston (6-28 lifetime against Carpenter, but swinging a hot bat in the postseason) in front of Braun and Fielder.
  19. Even though I know that #2 is the strict percentage play, I still find myself leaning towards #1. You can't win the World Series if you don't get there.
  20. Nyjer Morgan is not good at catching the ball near the wall. That should have been an out.
  21. Ironically, just got a 502 error trying to load this thread.
