  1. Playing with the lead, I have no problem playing for one run. If Brady makes an out without advancing the runner (say he strikes out, or induces any one of the multitude of non-productive outs referenced earlier), here's the expected run situation: 1 -2- 0.69 0.414 That doesn't even include the potential that Brady hits the ball on the left side of the infield, getting Durrington into a rundown. Or an infield hit that fails to advance the runner. After Clark hits, the situation isn't going to be second & no outs. I don't have a problem with reducing the risk of scoring zero runs when the odds of scoring more than one run are relatively minor.
  2. ball game. (FWIW, I disagree with the people who say that the bunt was a bad play. 60+ % of the time, Brady doesn't do any better than the situation created by bunting: a productive out. The Expected Runs table shows that a runner at 3rd with no outs makes it more likely that a single run will score than a runner at second with no outs. It didn't work because the heart of the order didn't get the job done....not because it was a bad move.)
  3. Pshew.... That was close. Warm up the Bow!
  4. WOW! Knew there was a reason I kept watching!
  5. I'm starting to get a "First major league win for Eveland" feel from this game....here's hoping I'm right!
  6. I think this is the first game this season that I've turned off. (Starting to worry that Victor Santos' bad luck is turning into a self-fufilling prophecy....) I'll keep an eye on the GameCast; here's hoping I find a reason to tune in once again.
  7. Haiku night succeeds. Brewers win, six runs to four. Are limericks next?
  8. Three Hits for Jenkins. Starting another hot streak? The patent's been filed.
  9. Delete the lineup! Brian, you should know better. That's not a haiku. Edit: Oops, my bad. You did give yourself an out. I will lurk once more. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/embarassed.gif
  10. Hot tubber Cappy goes for his ninth victory. Runners glued to first.
  11. At the game today....sitting right behind Jenkins (front rooow!). He completely misjudged Fogg's double, but IMO....made up for it throwing a runner out at 3rd an inning or two later. It's just sick how accurate his throwing arm can be. I can't help but wonder how the game might have played out if the Brewers had brought in JDLR after DD....since he's the only reliever in the game who didn't allow a run. That said, even if JDLR throws a complete inning or two, no one else in the pen seemed to be getting the job done. Only two things about this game that don't fall in the realm of disappointing: - the kids (Weeks' HR & J.J.'s doubles) - finding a DD mini-bobble after the game http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/happy.gif
  12. http://images.radcity.net/3251/1051510.jpg Hadn't seen a picture with the T-shirt designs they're giving away up anywhere else (not even on the Brewers' website), so when I saw that pic on WSSP (1250 AM, one of tonight's sponsors), I thought I should post it here. Not a big fan of the yellow T-shirt m'self.
  13. Looks like Hall will be sitting down for a few games.
  14. Bad trip over....I can actually look at the screen again.
  15. I was at one of the games in which Erickson got to suit up for the Brewers at Wrigley last year. I wish him the best. The last part of that press release....about having two open spots on the AAA roster....makes me wonder if DM has something up his sleeve. Especially when combined with Fielder still being in Milwaukee; it makes no real sense to cut someone now, unless you're planning on having someone else fill those spots. Then again, it could just be clearing a roster spot to call someone(s) up from Huntsville (Sarfate, Eveland, Gwynn, Cruz .... plenty of worthy candidates).
  16. Anyone else getting concerned that we're seeing the Sheets closer to years 1-3 rather than the Sheets of 2004? Not striking many people out, giving up a ton of HR's, and not as sharp on his control. I'm a bit worried... Not really: the Ben sheets of 2001-2003 used to beat the Cubs. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/frown.gif
  17. Tomo Arigato! http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/laugh.gif
  18. Didn't see a thread yet, so I started today's. Tonight we find out just what we've recieved for Junior Spivey. Plus, it's another night to watch the kids play (including Prince v. LHP this time around), against a team they should be able to beat. So, will Fossum no-hit the Brewers, or will the bats show up tonight?
  19. It's been mentioned in other threads, but the game is going to be broadcast on ESPN (once it stops raining). [Will Edit when batting lineups are posted, to find out where Braun & Katin are hitting in the order.]
  20. I don't know if anyone heard the Jim Powell interview with our first round pick, but he came across very well. I don't know if 'charismatic' is the word, but his interview was practically conversational. Very well spoken. Nice to know the team didn't have to sacrifice brains for Braun. (I've been working on that line for nearly 3 hours now....could you tell?) He said that, once he's done with the college season (Miami will show down with Alex Gordon, Dustin Timm, and the rest of the Cornhuskers in the Super Regionals), he wants to sign quickly and get to work....which is music to my ears.
  21. Michael Bell (listed as 3b, announced as 2b), # 174 on BA rankings.
  22. Carlos Hereaud was # 198 on BA's rankings (and they list him at SS...his third position of the day. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif )
  23. The Padres apparently missed David Wells so much, they had to go out and get John Madden to pitch for them. * Boom! *
  24. Bill Ripken was no Craig Griffey, I'll say that much.
