  1. poor sleeping giant berkman bomb deep to leftfield go back to sleep now
  2. Braun and Fielder killed us tonight. Failed miserably with men on base... all game. Thats not usual. Weird game. Wanted a split going in. Got that but the way they lost tonight stings a tad. Thankfully fans usually take these loses harder than the happy go lucky Brew Crew
  3. Another solid start of pitching into the 7th and only giving up 1 run, I'll lobby to change Bushy's nickname from that (Bushy) to Mr. August.
  4. Man this is fun! We've all endured some lean times as fans of this organization from the under performing seasons years following 1982 to the Jervey Lopster days, its not been easy but seasons like this have the ability to make all that seem somewhat endurable.
  5. Maybe Ned sees Craiggers starting as a good luck charm for the team kinda like Gary Coleman in that 1980's remake of "The Kid from Leftfield"...also starring Benson??
  6. Last time Redding pitched against the Crew (late May in DC). The Muscle started that game and went 2 for 3 against Redding with a single and a double. The one out was a deep fly to center that he just missed. Hopefully, he gets the start?
  7. I was just looking at the Nat's recent box scores. Man, this team has changed a lot since we played them in mid May. New players at 2b and SS. Plus 2 of the 3 OFers are different. Here's their starting line-up from the Brewers at Nats on 05/28: Washington Nationals F Lopez 2B C Guzman SS R Zimmerman 3B A Boone 1B L Milledge CF J Flores C W Pena LF E Dukes RF T Redding P Here's their starting line-up from the Nats game the other night: Washington Nationals E Bonifacio 2B Alberto Gonzalez SS R Zimmerman 3B A Kearns RF L Milledge CF J Flores C R Belliard 1B R Langerhans LF J Lannan P
  8. Looks like he features the fastball with an above average curve. Granted this blogger is a homer, but looks like Balester has been a top prospect in the org. I'm just gald he's not a junk baller in the form of Josh Fogg or Jorge Campillo http://firejimbowden.blogspot.com/2008/07/balester.html
  9. Wow. Backe is throwing batting practice. It went from 4-1 Astros to 9-4 Cubs in like 5 minutes...all the damage with 2 outs
  10. Jason Kendall has made me eat my words today. I apologize. Everything I said in page 1 of this thread about the need to give him an off day was wrong.
  11. That line-up makes little sense? Two questions....Why does Ned hate Russ and Mike? When did Craiggers become an everyday player? Maybe we can convince Damian Miller to get in shape and come out of retirement when Kendall collapses? At least, he's familiar with 4/5 of the rotation? I bet Simba can still hit and call a good game....lets make him player/coach. Seriously, though, I know we have some off-days coming up but goodness this is crazy.
  12. I think you might be right bannana. But I'm curious if Homer isn't a lot like Ben Hendrickson. A top organizational prospect who just couldn't make that final jump from AAA to MLB? 11:30 start? That's 10:30 my time out here in Colorado. Brunch game. Jason Kendall has to get the day off right??? Not only is it a day after a night game but the Crew is off on Thursday and Ned usually gives Kendall days off when its followed by an off day? How about a Russell Branyan start? As weird as it is to say Counsell could probably use a day off? He's not a spring chicken anymore.
  13. Defense kill us. Should be out of the inning. Counsell saves 2 runs. Gonna need a lot of runs tonight
  14. I didnt expect a Manny meltdown. This is what use to happen to Parra in April and early May. yuck.
  15. Why to I keep waiting thinking this team will eventually string some hits together against the Mexican Junkster? 25 innings and counting....
  16. This has been a very humbling series. One team hits in runners in scoring position...the other doesnt.
  17. Isnt CC 4 for 4 in the wins category as a Brewer? (COL, CIN, @SF and @STL)
  18. "Oh, Billy, Billy, Billy. This is a biggie! Don't let me down, Billy! Forty thousand dollars...Billy." Judge Smails And He Delivers!!
  19. Bush has been extremely soild for about a month now. I say when Soup comes back move Seth "I'll give you 5 innnings" McClung to long relief and put Villy in those tight 7-8th inning situations Nedley seems to give to Mota
  20. Going into the series, I said give me one of the first two and I'll like to take my chances at getting the series with Sheeter on the mound Sunday. So come on Manny. Still this was a tough one to watch. Lots of let downs. Shouse didn't do his job against the lefty. Mota missed his spot on a 1-2 pitch by about 15 inches. Again, the Crew jumped all over a hot starter but let the oppo's bullpen shut them down. McClung's curveball and those infamous first pitch strikes were non existant tonight and that hurt.
  21. Ricky on 3 times in 3 Abs. Nice to see
  22. I think its the flowing perm out out of the back of his hat that's messing Riske' up.
  23. Its a lefty today and another one in Atlanta on Monday (Jo-Jo). So Billy will get some at-bats.
  24. Big Seth's first time past 90 pitches since 2005 and he hits the wall. Another strong start, though, from the big-righty. I'm starting to wonder when McClung became like the starter I have the 2nd most faith in?? A well-pitched game by both starters. Each made only one mistake...McClung's to Oscar Salazar while Cabrera made his to Hart.
  25. As a DirecTV MLB Extra Innings subscriber I watch a lot of baseball...but not a lot of Baltimore Orioles baseball. They definitely seem to be overperforming pre-season expectations. With that said, I know little about Liz..except that he's been a highly rated pitcher in the Orioles system for the last 2 years. So I went to the ol' trustworthy wiki and saw some interesting tidbits on this kid... "Liz, who is one of 11 children in his family, started playing baseball when he was 16 years old and learned how to pitch in 2003 and 2004" "Liz is known for his remarkably long arms; when he stands with his arms at his sides, his fingers reach below his knees. Liz uses a straight overhand pitching motion and throws his fastball consistently in the mid- to upper-90s and has been clocked at 99 mph. His other pitches include an overhand curveball, a sinker, a slider, and two variations of a changeup. Early in his professional career, Liz received attention because of a clicking sound which is sometimes loud enough to be heard in the stands and occurs whenever he throws a pitch. Some have thought it to be his thumb clicking against his index finger. Oriole's head athletic trainer Richie Bancells discovered that Liz's scapula caused the clicking; although rare, this condition does not hurt his pitching career. To treat this condition, Liz has been doing an exercise program to strengthen the muscles around his collarbone." Some thoughts...He learned how to pitch in 2003-2004 and then 4 years later is in the Big Leagues. Thats impressive. Secondly, if you're at the stadium tonight and hear some weird clicking sound coming from the field...don't worry it's just Liz's shoulder blade.
