  1. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/embarassed.gifhttp://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/embarassed.gif You ever see the 'Pat' segment on Saturday Night Live? Maybe that's what he was getting at.
  2. RE: quote #1: That's what you pay for, isn't it? Kind of like how you pay people to harvest veggies... RE: quote #2: I try my best to not eat fist.
  3. I'm not sure about mine. I think it is something about the dramatic overtones on the face of the whatever rodent this is that really does it for me.
  4. He didn't say he is doing it for the health reasons, he said he is doing it because of the way animals are treated in the process of becoming food.
  5. One more thing - this may be off base, but if he is doing some file sharing on the internet line, it is possible that the router is getting overwhelmed with connections. Things like bittorrent, etc can overwhelm a router when the settings are left at the defaults. It's a good idea if he is file sharing to limit the amount of connections that the bittorrent client is using. Just an idea. If that isn't the case, I would call tech support for the provider and get a better answer. Hope this helps.
  6. Discount is not needed, these wings are cheap as-is. Try any of the 12 flavors, or mix and match. While there, you can stop by the Rum Runner next door and have a few beers with locals in a bar owned by Wisconsin transplants (my family). Depending on how honest the cabbie is, it's probably a $10 or less cab ride. It's directly down the street from the Trop, on the same street. 18 blocks. We used to have a free shuttle, but it started to get taken advantage of so we canceled it. If you find some spare time with nothing to do (not very easy to do in Vegas, I know) come on down. If I'm there, I'd be glad to buy you a beer. My name is Chris Hill.
  7. How do SP wins measure that exact scenario when the bullpen blows the lead? They don't.
  8. Get some wings at the Badger Cafe! (1801 E Tropicana) Shameless self-promo, I know.
  9. This thread is blowing the H.E.F. meter off the charts. Don't ask what that stands for, I can't tell you.
  10. I'm thinking about going back to school too out here at UNLV. Being 28 years old, I'm sure it will seem a bit strange. At this point in my life though, I am more interested in the actual learning than any awkwardness of the social aspect.
  11. That isn't horribly bad. That is acceptable, but borderline. If you were up around 10%, that would be a problem.
  12. I use freeware called Linux.
  13. If that's the case, just go ahead and try pinging any old site on the web (google works again) with decent sized packets and check out what kind of loss you get.
  14. What I would do is run a traceroute to say, google.com. Find the first hop after your in-house router. Ping that first hop with some semi-big packets. Unfortunately with Windows I don't know if it is possible to change the ping interval, so you may need to do it overnight to get a good sample size. Check this image for a little tutorial: http://img207.imageshack.us/img207/2936/pingitpc0.gif Let me know if you need any help.
  15. I do, really, agree, yes, mmhmm, yep.
  16. How much packet loss are we talking about? I'd prefer a sabrematrician-approved sample size of at least a few thousand packets. What I'm getting at is that there is almost a tolerance for packet loss through wireless connections. Extreme packet loss is another thing. I'm assuming he of course has a direct line of sight, correct?
  17. Kohl was the owner when Grunfeld and Karl led the Bucks to the Eastern Conference Finals in 2001. While I agree in principle that Kohl is a problem, it's not as black and white as you make it out to be.
  18. I actually lived in 5 different places within the lower east side area. You can get a pretty nice place for the price you are looking at. One problem to look out for - the crackheads that break in to cars in that area. I had my car broken in to twice, my roommate had his car stolen, etc. There is really no way around that since secure parking is so hard to come by. Unless of course you shell out for a place with it's own underground parking. Good luck finding a joint like that at that price. I lived on Jackson twice, Pleasant twice, and Cass once. They are all very good locations with the exception of parking and the crackheads from across the bridge in Riverwest.
  19. I was going to recommend both of the above programs. I do find myself using Paint.net more often (when I use Windows that is). GIMP is also available for linux.
  20. I'm going to assume that the phone is 2.4 Ghz, which unfortunately is the same range of frequencies that the 802.11b and g run on. My advice is to get either a 900Mhz phone or a 5.8 Ghz phone. Also running in the 2.4 Ghz range are, believe it or not, microwaves. Edit: seeing as you are looking for a free alternative, you could try adjusting the channel of the wireless access point. It will still be in the 2.4 Ghz range, but maybe there will be less overlap. Try channels 1,6, or 11. These are the only truly independent frequencies in the US range of wireless internet frequencies as dictated by the FCC. I can't guarantee that this will work, but it is worth a shot.
  21. At one of my uncle's bars here in Vegas, a strange occurrence happened today. There were two bottles of beer left outside the bar, on the ground, unopened. What made it more strange is that they were Lakefront Brewery beers - Riverwest Stein and Cream City Ale something or other (I was only a fan of Riverwest Stein, used to drink it all the time in Milwaukee.) Needless to say, it was odd seeing microbrews that were brewed 5 minutes from where I used to live, thousands of miles away. Especially since I have no idea if it is even possible to get those beers here.
  22. There have been multiple Google StreetView pictures of guys coming out of strip clubs, porn theaters, etc posted on websites such as digg.com
  23. Confidence /= telling the media you are going to win the world series. There are some things that make more sense to just keep in your head rather than say out loud. Do I expect the Brewers to feel as though they will win the division this year? Yes. Do I expect them to tell the media about it? No.
