  1. i just don't understand the contact play at all, especially when the infield is in that far. unless a guy like Gomez is on third, there's zero reason to do it.
  2. Whats weird is our manager loves to make weird substitutions and starts due to small sample sizes but refuses to recognize that lefty's have been batting .304 against Loe this year. yea, there's been a few situations this year (and last) where Loe shouldn't have been in there. But I'm fine with it here. And it should have been a scoreless inning. Veras hasn't been very good against anyone (especially LHB), and they're not going to use three different pitchers in the 7th....so it was really Loe or Parra.
  3. i dont have a huge problem with using Loe in the 7th (not like there's really a "good" option so far this year), but that AB vs. Stewart was very very predictable.
  4. Brian McCann might have something to say about that (once he starts hitting. which he will, he's made 6 straight all star teams for a reason). Carlos Ruiz and AJ Ellis are also both off to very hot starts, even better than Lucroy's. Posey and Miguel Montero are both good players as well. Molina is pretty much a lock. I think it's way too early to talk about all stars (even if we can vote already), but Lucroy has definitely put himself in the conversation...much like he did last year with a hot start. There's a lot of good options though, so Luc better keep hitting if he wants to be an all star.
  5. is that nyjer's first extra base hit this season? yes, yes it was. thanks fox
  6. but one of those pitches was a ball and wasn't called a ball. so it evens out! umpires are the best!
  7. there is zero excuse for using dillard there. either leave loe in (7 pitches) or put in Ax. i usually hold off on blaming managers, but that was dumb, dumb, dumb, and it cost the team the game. not getting this call certainly doesn't help, but Dillard was in some trouble no matter what. http://www.brooksbaseball.net/pfxVB/cache/location.php-pitchSel=457422&game=gid_2012_05_06_milmlb_sfnmlb_1&batterX=87&innings=yyyyyyyyy&sp_type=1&s_type=3.gif
  8. if only he would do this with his pitchers. ugggggghhhh, that's frustrating
  9. well, at least they took the bat out of two lefties hands vs. dillard.
  10. corey's baserunning + tim dillard = me agreeing with you. ugh. just pitch Ax! god i hate saves!
  11. i don't really mind it all that much. i wonder if it's one of those things he just kind of has to do to be comfortable, nyjer being nyjer (or nyjer being tony, i suppose). I doubt it has anything to do with it, but he's been pretty calm all year and he's been hitting poorly. that's probably more a product of hitting poorly (and at least he knows to tone it down when he isn't doing much)
  12. The SO and I were just looking at each other and saying, who the hell plays SS now? Sorry, Edwin, forgot about you for a moment. that happened to me when I was at a game vs. atlanta and they pinch hit for izturis (i think it was with Kottaras, the sunday game)....totally forgot they had called up Farris. very glad roenicke seems to usually send someone up for Izturis late in ballgames (although he has used him to pinch hit a few too many times). I would have used Conrad there, but Ishikawa worked out just fine. please win.
  13. i have no idea how that ball isn't caught, but i will take it. very nice AB by ishikawa.
  14. Umm, shouldn't that be saved for when they're actually at-bat? I was wondering if my MLBtv feed was a half inning slow or something. Mine is incredibly show (usually at least a better behind) when i run it through my xbox. it can be very frustrating.
  15. at least veras is getting that bonus few inches on the outside corner as well
  16. times like this i really wish pitch f/x was still allowed to post data during the game. i mean, if nyjer morgan is laying off of it it can't be that close.
  17. it looked like a strike to me. either way it was closer than the next pitch that corey got called out on.
  18. I think they handled Taylor Green pretty well. From a talent perspective, he obviously should have made the roster over a guy like Ishikawa...but personally I preferred him playing every day in AAA to being a PH and maybe seeing 1 start a week. Now that there's an opportunity for him to play quite a bit (although the circumstances are unfortunate) he's up, just like he should be. Hopefully he makes an impact and they keep giving him ABs. He should start most games at 1st against RHB (3-4 a week) as well as spelling Rickie or A-Ram. ugh, Corey.
  19. BABIP and luck doesn't really explain his power completely disappearing though. His infield flyball rate doubled, and his HR/FB rate was more than cut in half in 2011. His isolated power was .118 (nyjer morgan was .116, for a comparison...that's behind guys like Sam Fuld and Roger Bernadina!!) compared to his career ISO of .260. I guess you could put a lot of that on the appendectomy, but just a weird, almost unexplainable year for him in 2011. Someone dropped him in my fantasy league about 3-4 weeks ago (it counts OBP and SLG)...was so upset when I didn't get him with the #3 spot.
