  1. did that actually happen? That's crazy. I just thought it was no commercials or ticker with score updates....stuff like that. didn't think they lost any broadcasts.
  2. rickie's hit a few balls hard...looked decent minus the Romo AB. Sac bunt and a walkoff for Rickie, let's do it.
  3. careful what you wish for. he probably would have brought in Dillard. Dillard has arguably out pitched Veras. Dillard's tERA is 4.07, Veras's is 5.51. They basically have the same xFIP. I guess what I am saying is I have no clue why Veras keeps getting high leverage innings and pitching all the time. fair enough. I guess if all things are equal you try to get two innings out of a guy in case this thing drags on. And Veras looked solid in his first inning.
  4. he has to have tweaked something. They didn't double switch, and even if they had Aoki would have made perfect sense (although moving the pitcher spot from 9 to 2 or 3 doesn't really change much). Hopefully its just a cramp.
  5. Would have used him for Kottaras. If you bring him in for someone else, Bochy likely puts a RHP right back in. Although George is a very patient hitter, so that works too.
  6. agreed. a small part of me kind of likes it a little bit, for the "you want to get some more ABs Carlos? OK, go win this game against a RHP" attitude. Probably not the right time for it, and I'm a fairly statistical driven person so I don't really like saying this....but it's nice to see faith put in a young player. Someone else still should have been used. And if the brewers lose, disregard this message.
  7. Or Lucroy. But yea, Gomez was the 4th or 5th best option there. Pretty strong show of faith from Roenicke there, and it backfired. I guess he wanted to save the PH for Izturis/pitcher spot. Still don't really get it though. God, Ax in a tie game is so terrifying. It's so bizarre how much he can struggle sometimes
  8. Saving Luc for an AB with guys on base I guess? I don't really get it either, especially because the Giants likely won't be pulling out an LHP in the last two innings (Romo and Casilla are both RH, not that Luc can't hit a RHP). oh well, get it done Braun.
  9. Also, in the past 5 seasons only 5 catchers have started 135+ games. Kendall (149!!!), Russell Martin twice, Suzuki, Molina, and Mauer. It's not a range that is hit very often.
  10. Only problem with that is the actual math. Lucroy has played 37 out of 41 games this season, that's 90.2% of the games. Over 162 game season Lucroy is on pace to play 146 games. Not trying to be confrontational, I just think the way Lucroy is being used is good for the team and it sure seems to be working for him. I'm talking starts, not games played. Not to be a jerk, but then use the same stat for Molina...he's started 135-140 games once in his career, the past two have been 130 and 132. I would like to see Luc hit 130 as well, and he should if he sits out all of Wolf's starts. Throw in a few day games after night games and it drops to about 125 (although those could be canceled out some if he DH's in Wolf starts during interleague). It will end up being a difference of a few games.
  11. And for what it's worth (I'm putting this here because this thread has kind of a Morgan vs. Aoki feel) Morgan has a .286/.394/.304 line over his last 20 appearances (on April 22 it was .119/.119/.119 before, egads). The slugging is still abysmal and I realize that it's definitely boosted by the past two days, but even if you take those out it was .250/.345/.271. Again, the slugging is abysmal...but even before he had a great two days he was starting to pick it up, and it's nice to see that AVG and OBP split. This is not a "Morgan should play over Aoki" post, but more of a "lets find room for both of them" post. Hopefully Morgan can keep that OBP up in the .345-.355 range (a double here and there would be nice) and Aoki can keep producing. With Hart moving to 1B more often (idk how often, hopefully at least against LHP), there should be enough room to get each consistent playing time.
  12. Cain's deal is 6 yr/$127.5M. I agree with you that Greinke will get $140M on the open market (maybe more), and I think milwaukee could get Greinke to stick around for the Cain deal (maybe bump it up to $130M). That may be more than they want to (or should) spend. It's very debatable. If I had to guess they probably initially offered a contract around what you thought Cain got ($112M over 6 years) or similar to what Weaver got (5 yrs $85-90M). More likely the 5 year deal. Then Cain got his contract, that set a bar, Greinke said "we need at least this" and talks broke down. Total guess, but makes sense to me.
  13. or you could just read my next post rather than be condescending and assume that the only way I can make a decision is by typing a name into a website and looking at some numbers. And my use of defensive metrics in the initial point was to refute the person that called Morgan a "bad defender". I also stated I thought he was a better defender than Aoki, and my reasoning was better clarified in a following post which you chose to ignore.
  14. yea, that's right. his contract kicks up to 7-8 million in those option years, with the buyout decreasing from 2 to 0.5 million. I wouldn't be against taking a shot...looking at his peripherals he's had some pretty bad luck so far this year and isn't THIS bad. The question is though, even if he bounces back...is he any good? He hasn't really played well since 2009. I think even if he bounces back some this year, he won't be that different from Taylor Green.
  15. that play actually worked though.....
  16. I thought I read Chapman isn't available to pitch today, which seems odd (he can't pitch back to back days??). But we shall see, maybe they'll use Arredondo.
  17. that kind of sounds like building a bullpen in general though. most relievers are pretty inconsistent
  18. I understand that, which is why I said I can understand the complaint of wanting Ramirez in there and Green at 2nd. But Ramirez needs a day off, and i feel as if turborickey has been someone (correct me if I'm wrong) who has wanted Weeks out of the lineup for some time. This lineup is what happens when you have injuries and bench underperforming players. It is definitely one of the worst brewers lineups I've seen on paper in some time...but given what is at his disposal I don't think there is very much Roenicke could have done differently. There are so many critiques about him being set in his ways (which have some validity) "Lucroy has to bat 8th", "CF must bat 2nd", etc.....and now he tries to change what isn't working (and good for him) but he still gets criticized. i just think it's a little over the top sometimes.
  19. Why bother questioning RR any more? The guy is an absolute horror of a mangaer. I want him gone, end this charade. what would he have to do to make you NOT question his lineup? I'm not asking this to be a jerk, and I would have asked it whether or not the team had 8 runs right now. It's a team with flaws, and those flaws have been magnified by injuries so there's going to be holes in the lineup. I can see wanting Ramirez in there (not that he's been great) instead of Maysonet...but he's a 33 year old with a history of missing time due to nagging injuires, and he's played 10 straight days. Guys need days off.
  20. I think that Roenicke knows most of those "normal person" reasons (save for the outs on the basepaths, the jury is out on that one), but he's not the type to call his players out for underperforming. Most managers would handle interviews like that, in the words of John Axford most managers go with "cliche...cliche...another cliche" approach
