  1. to try his luck against craig counsell instead of rickie weeks.
  2. Yep. Rickie knows it too...pretty sure i could lip read "are you afraid of me?" as he was walking towards first.
  3. who else would you have pinch hitting here? edit: how's two big hits work for you?
  4. I really don't understand how you wait til Wilson is up to have Morgan hit. why why why does yuni get an AB there.
  5. if only the brewers had $30 million to throw at a reliever.....
  6. It was for replacing Chipper Jones. He got in because he got the 2nd most votes. He might even end up starting. Polanco isn't going to play either. NL 3B, yuck.
  7. WOW. Rickie is lucky Cozart can't jump a half inch higher. i'll take it.
  8. Jeff Cirillo. And are you serious? He's about a million times better than Rock. He is the one who is terrible. Cirillo offers good insight, and doesn't sugar coat and make excuses for everything.Cirillo just doesn't have a very good announcing voice. I agree that he provides good insight (and do prefer him to Schroeder)...but he just doesn't have a strong voice. Doesn't feel like he should be announcing games.
  9. Like 7 IP, 4 H, 1 ER, and 10 K? I understand what you're getting at (we'd all like to see those starts a lot more), but he has had some nice starts. That rays start I mentioned, 7 IP 10 K against Washington. Before the Yankee game he was in a pretty good stretch with 5 of 6 games being quality starts (the lone bad one being that Cubs game). I understand, and share, the frustration....but a lot of people make it sound like he hasn't shown anything so far this year. He has, i just wish he'd show it more often.
  10. According to fangraphs, only 40.7% of Greinke's pitches have been in the strike zone. That's far and away a career low for him, and about the fifth lowest in the league among starters. You can't say this for sure, but a logical conclusion would be fewer pitches in the strike zone=fewer mistakes
  11. A .690 OPS would be rank 11th among shortstops. I understand that almost all of that is offset by awful defense...but it's worth pointing out that that isn't a terrible line for a SS. I agree with just about everyone that I would be happier if Yuni wasn't playing SS...but I don't think that problem has a solution unless Melvin makes a trade
  12. if we could do it last night with yuni and kotsay leading off the ninth, surely we can come back with the top of the order right now. right? please?
  13. he was warming up in the fifth inning. true story.
  14. Why should they be comfortably in first? What even is "comfortable"? I don't think there's a team in the whole league that is comfortably in first. The team is playing to expectations, and their record reflects how they've played. Yes a few things could have gone better and led to a few more wins, but a few things could have easily gone worse and led to a few losses. They're right where they should be.
  15. Seriously? Just because we are in 1st place doesn't mean we can't criticize players. Grienke has not been very good. Sure his peripherals look great, but that hasn't translated yet. We should be comfortably in 1st. Simply throwing up your hands and saying we are in 1st so shut up you whiners is asinine, because if we keep playing this way we won't be. Given the talent and the way most have played thus far we aren't playing to where we could be IMO. The team is on pace to win ~88 games, which is right around what most projected for the team. Wins in the mid to high 80's, with the potential to get into the 90's while competing for the division. The team's run differential is +6. Third in the NL in OPS (sixth in runs scored) and tenth in the NL in ERA. They've played above average baseball, and that is reflected in their above average record. I don't see how they should be comfortably in 1st.
  16. kotsay HR (and triple) and a betancourt walk? what the heck is going on out there?
  17. Prince got more votes. Jeter was elected a starter and he's on the DL.
  18. I guess it makes sense to have all hitters. Pitchers will have a chance to make the team because of that Sunday starter rule. Hopefully Marcum or Axford can find their way onto the team, but i doubt it. Oh well, I'm still happy with three starters.
  19. Both Wilson and Vogelsong have had really good years. But to leave CC or Haren off in the AL, and Tommy Hanson in the NL is really really tough
